Just sold my CBR500R today and am going to look (and most likely buy) a 2011 white hayabusa with 22k miles on it for 6,900$ tomorrow.
It has ceramic bearings and swapped/tuned exhaust already.

Yes off road the weight difference is noticeable, on road though no.

Not like you are throwing the bike around single trails at 10-50kmh on the road which is pretty much the main place weight plays a factor for enduro bikes...

As far as the x trainer doing wheelies easier than your wr450, the xtrainer has more bottom end power than a wr450, wr450 has way more mid range and top end though.

So is my 300, doesn't make it nice to ride on the streets though.

Dude is best off getting a 701 unless he actually plans on riding off road as much as he plans on riding on road and even then a 701 can go down most enduro trails without a worry.
>>
>>17277948

>>
>>17277969
80 pounds is 80 pounds. You will feel it on the road, not as much as the dirt, but you will 100% feel it. The extra weight basically cancels out the extra HP of the 701.

At that point you are looking at

>701 for better maintenance intervals
>501 for better thrills

Lets face it most people get bikes for fun, so he should go with the bike he will have the most fun on, the 501.
>>
>>17277929
>passenger with poorly secure backpack hanging off

shouldn't that be lowering the COG and helping the bike corner faster though?
>>
>>17277991
501 would be wasted on him.
Its just spending more money for the appearance of having something better when you don't even know how to use it.

Gotta remember he is talking about getting a racing dirt bike exclusively for riding on the road, he isnt taking it off road, ever.

It would be like me coming on dbt and asking for advice on which 600cc sports bike would be best for riding off road, sure they CAN do it, does not mean they should though.
>>
>>17278003
Hey, given the babby shit most bikers call "offroading", a 600cc sport naked is probably the ideal choice because then you're not stuck with a shitty DS or pigfat grandpa bike for spending 98% of your time on pavement.

What do y'all think about ethanol free gas for bikes?
>>
>>17277991
Getting thrown around by the slightest bit of wind isn't exactly fun. Neither is having a ducked up steering geometry from putting the wrong size wheel on the bike.
The 701 will be more fun. He will absolutely feel the extra power on the 701 and he would absolutely feel the extra oil changes and rebuilds on the 501.
Yes it is heavier but that's not really as bad of a thing as you're making it out to be.

>>
>>17278037
It is probably better, especially for older bikes not designed for 10% ethanol gas.

However there's none in my town and the places that do sell ethanol free usually overprice it to the point where it's not worth it.
>>
I've been filling up my 05 Buell with non ethanol gas it's been reasonably priced. Although I've noticed the bike runs a little warmer. Could be the whole air cooled v twin in the middle of hot as fuck Texas. Could it be the higher BTU output of the ethanol?

>>17278037
It's mandatory for classics unless you've gone out of your way to put modern rubber and carbs in that won't dry out/corrode.

I mean absolutely mandatory. Fueling system failure and engine damage could result otherwise.

>see a 72 CB750 filling up with E10
>shudder
>>
>>17278037
fuel injected bikes wont really mind the ethanol, but carbureted bikes will since the ethanol absorbs water from the air and since the fuel sits in the carb the water in the fuel rusts the inside of the carb.

this is less important for bikes that are ridden a lot since the fuel wont sit in the carb for long, but if you only ride on the weekend, or are about to park the bike for the winter putting in some ethanol free gas is a good idea

thats just fuel with ethanol in it, ethanol is 110 ron so adding it to normal fuel increases the octane rating.

I was dating a girl for a bit who weighed 90-95 lbs. She was like 5'3" or so and was really petite. Her doctor wanted her to get up to at least 100 lbs because she was underweight but she liked being under 100.

>>17278182

>>
>>17278182
Don't lean as much and don't go as fast, all gear all the time.

Its the starts and stops and having her get on will be the hardest parts, Throttle control is a must.
>>
>>17278125
is it actually RON?
just check what your bikes manual says to use, make sure it's the correct manual for your region and that you're actually using the right fuel index.
Higher octane resists preignition and detonation better than lower octane.
Whatever your bike says to use is going to be safe within margin.

Cars with anti-knock sensors and variable ignition timing can take advantage of a higher octane fuel by advancing ignition and get a touch more power.
I actually don't know if modern bikes have antiknock sensors but there are probably people who have advanced ignition or raised compression on whatever model bike you have and strictly only can run high octane if you really want to go down that path.

>>17278133
Here in Australia we widely have 98RON with no ethanol
>>
>>17278202
I mean, I'm a weeb, but how does one get to that level.
Also, personally I like my women a little taller than average, and not too skinny. Ideally I like women as tall as I am, but that doesn't happen often.

Because they are just closet pedophiles that watch anime because it makes their little willies stiff.

Not really much else to be said, like sure there are plenty of anime fans who arent pedos but the weeaboos are about 95% pedophile, if they came into contact with a child they would be thinking shit like "i bet she would love her pussy being licked just like how they do in the anime"
>>
>>17278037
Bikes with paper, cork, natural rubber, neoprene rubber or SOME silicone rubber (form-a-gaskit) hoses or gaskets in the fuel system will have trouble. AFAIK the Japanese haven't used cork carb gaskets since the early sixties / late fifties.

The Japanese generally use Butyl rubber for their hoses and O-rings and so on. Those turn hard and shrink just as fast in Ethanol as regular gas. Rebuild with Viton if you can afford it.

The only real problem is Fibreglas tanks. The resin melts and ruins everything. I'm still looking for a solution for my old Triumph framer project.

>>
>>17278262
I went to school with someone who is now in prison for having thousands of videos/pictures of child porn, didnt seem like a pedo when we were at school but you know how it is, people can be good at hiding things.

Anime is just a cover for pedophiles to gather, thats why 95% of anime depicts children in sexual situations.
>>
>>17278219
Its better for her not do anything at all until she learns how to properly ride.

Her timing could be off and throw the turn out of whack.
>>
>>17278244
I don't consider someone a pedophile unless they like actual children.

Ever seen a little kid naked? They don't look like midgets or anything, they barely even look human. Anyone who's ever had children, or known someone with children, knows what children look and act like. That's what make them think pedophiles are disgusting. You don't truly hate pedophiles until you see what they think is sexy in person.

Some 4'1" jap girl with B cups is a little weird and you might think the guy is trying to avoid "strong womyn", but pedo it is not. Pedo is a whole new level of disgusting. Actual pedophilia is so disgusting that not even weebs can stomach it, so all their little anime girls have tits and hourglass figures to make their age play fantasies more palatable.
>>
>>17278279
Yeah nah, you want to fuck like a 13 year old m8.
Thats what your anime depicts, 11-13 year olds.

its fucking disgusting.
you trying to defend yourself from being a pedo is pretty pathetic too, this is 4chan not reddit, we all know exactly why you like anime m8.
>>
>>17278285
More like a 16 year old, legal where I live and normal for my age. if not extremely normal, it's hard to find a married couple who didn't meet in school while being 3-7 years apart, with the husband already working to start both off in life before his wife even graduated.

Either you're much older and must be disgusted, or you're an autist trying to gain some normality by aping what you think people with sex and social lives do.
>>
>>17278227
>Americans use MON, which is a more accurate measurement.
>93 MON = 98 RON.
no, and that's not how it works

America almost exclusively uses AKI (anti-knock index) which is (RON+MON)/2 or the average of the RON and MON

RON is usually higher because of the way they test the fuel which is in more optimal conditions
MON is lower since the fuel is pre-heated and the test is at a higher rpm

but these numbers will vary depending on the fuel composition as different fuels will lose octane more than others especially with heat

the AKI system which is used in America takes into account the more ideal octane number along with the higher stressed number

I might not get a safety pass depending on how anal the tech is, I had no tail-light around that would fit that denim black paint set I put on but I had a kury tombstone light kicking around so I mounted that and built a new harness for it, problem is the license plate lamp shoots out the top of it and I fabbed up an aluminum bracket to hang my plate below the fender.

So I mean, technically regs says it needs a license plate light... which it technically has.. we'll see how technical this technician is.

KTM's are the easiest bikes to work on because they break so often KTM was nice enough to make every bit of maintenance really easy to do.
like you can change the air filter on a KTM without undoing a single bolt, you literally unclip 2 things and the air filter is out, or you can take the entire sub frame off by undoing 4 bolts.

tomorrow I'm going to go meet a craigslist guy and hopefully buy his jacket, tank bag, bike cover and maybe his gloves and boots.

Wouldn't know, I make all my "speciality" one-off tools like clutch basket holders, cam plate tools, tensioner crap etc.

I've got a double bay shop with a full metal shop so it'd be dumb not to use it. When I was removing the primary on my dyna up there to install floorboards HD had a special tool for the primary chain tensioner as well as a stop for the chain.. nothing that two twist ties to pull the tensioner closed and a chunk of 2x4 wedged into the chain couldn't fix.

The difference between a mechanic and a technician is that a mechanic knows how to tap and thread holes, build machines etc, a technician knows how to follow instructions to replace parts.

I bought a dyna because no other frame other than a harley touring frame interests me. I'm not old enough to want a 1050lb bagger yet so here we are.

Even those little hobby lathes are insanely useful when it comes to motorcycles, I turn axle spacers, bearing caps, neck cups and all sorts of shit on a little $600 lathe. My advice on a drill press is unless you're doing heavy stuff just get a $800 milling machine so you can do accurate drilling... inexpensive drill presses seem to have insane run-out on their chinese chucks.

For $1200 a bench top milling machine and a 1 horsepower 4 jaw hobby lathe would let you build almost any part you'd need for a motorcycle. An inexpensive TIG would be the next purchase after that.

they are top heavy compared to road bikes though.
its like my cb400sf weighs 440lb but to pick it up off its side takes no more effort than it does to pick up my 230lb 300 because most of the weight on the cb400 is low to the ground.

>>
>>17278927

also a used dyna can actually be a lot cheaper if you're patient and know what to look for.

Case in point. Bike was $9K Canadian used with 11K km on it, The tins that were on the bike (front/rear fenders and gas tank) were a numbered collector set from HDs color shop, so that's $3800 Canadian right there to sell. Buy a used denim set for $800, 3 grand in profit.

The Screaming Eagle HB intake, $800, Sissybar assembly, $800, Battery and electrical covers, $250, derby cover, $50, forward controls, $250... Harley charges a fortune for their parts so even knocking 10% off used nets you a quick sale and a good deal of money back.

Agreed on the touring frame. At least there's the road king I guess. I reckon within 5 years I'll have a reasonably set up shop with air, a lathe, hung tools, and so on. You just need to be established in a place before investing time/money in that setup.

>>17278983
You get the instability of light weight, big cross sectional area for side winds to blast, and very nervous handling. It's not noticeable if you are a city riding cuck, but have fun touring at 70+.

Everything else equal, a 300kg, low c-of-g roadbike will be easier to hustle than a 150kg, high c-of-g motard.

These are cop bikes is there any wonder they're shit? They're loaded up baggers that have to keep the same crappy stock exhaust and can't get non-epa compliant tunes...

Literally the first thing you do with a Harley is remove the bone stock restrictive exhaust and air cleaner and richen the AFR.. It's not Harleys problem they need to meet EPA requirements and the police department is too stupid to buy a different bike.

If you mainly ride in the city and don't plan to change the bike from stock then don't buy a Harley, period.

Don't know if you've ever been brought into the ER but they don't remove your clothes normally. They cut everything off to disturb you as little as possible. Especially after a crash with unknown injuries. the EMTs most likely sliced through as much as they could before he even hit the ER.

When you find how your gear held up, can you post about it here and name the exact models and stuff? There are plenty of reviews like "I just bought these gloves and I love them, they're super comfy" but reviews that like "I crashed in these pants and slid thirty feet on my butt and all I got were some mild friction burns" are a lot more useful.

Yeah you can probably get some pain meds if you just mention how you're feeling to a nurse.

dilemma lads
gf of only like 2 months basically told me she loved me last night. I told her i needed to compose my thoughts and go to bed. What do? dont really think i 'love' her yet, i really like her and there's not another girl in my life or anything, i'm just not sure what i feel is actually love? we've been together for such a short time... what do i tell her?

captcha related? close call ? is it a sign?

It specifically exists for countries not like Indonesia you retard cunt. Brake area corresponds to the amount of energy that has to be dissipated and that's not much for two bikes topping out at 180kph and under 200kg.

I don't know why you're so fucking proud the engine in your expensive beginner bike marginally outperforms a much cheaper one, it's like furiously masturbating over a supersport being quicker than a 650 twin.
