Yo /hg/, any experience on eBay turbos? I'm running a stock b20. I do not care about doing a legit turbo build as i really don't plan on keeping my teg for that long anyways.

It has gone 30k miles, is that alright? I'm hoping the guy whom owned it did oil changes, and didn't go too hard on the transmission. Going to test drive it soon.

30k is like a little baby, just check for gunk on the oil cap from lack of oil changes, and if the transmission isn't shuttering when it shifts through the gears as you drive, and you'll get something nice.

Will do.

Either the cat or maybe a blown out resonator?
>>
>>17274071
I dunno, I've gone bangin' around under the car before, and it seems like it was coming from the inlet of the cat.
When I got the car inspected I had to get a flex pipe replaced that's right before the cat. It started buzzing after that, and I thought the guy messed up with the welding or something somehow. So I'm thinkin' maybe the whole reason the flex pipe went bad was because the CC is bad.
I'm gonna get a thermometer from harbor freight this weekend and test out the temps on it at least.

Should be easy to find out if it's the culprit. You got emissions? My local shop would be offering a straight pipe for $40. kek

SO what’s up /hfg/

I got this lil’bitch with 250k-ish miles from a friend for $300 – how’d I do? It does run, just the exterior looks like shit, faded paint everywhere and some scratches. No major dents thankfully, nor rust. (New Mexico) Both bumpers look like they want to fall off, particularly the front. Interior was trashed as fuck as was the engine bay.

Mechanically speaking it is pretty good actually. I really should have done a before pic due to all the dirt inside of it but whatever. The spark plugs were swimming in oil and there was a bit of an oil leak coming from the valve cover. So all of the plug gaskets and valve cover gasket have been replaced. Thankfully the valve train looked super clean - no gunk anywhere. I’ve got some new axles waiting to go in, but I had to get the “inner” axle seal online as Vatozone only had the outer. The VSS needs to be replaced as the speedo is kinda intermittent in operation.

>Can anyone tell me which side is which before I get under the car? I know I’ll figure it out when I see it in a few days buy any help is appreciated.

That aside, I’ve done the thermostat and waiting on a new radiator, and water outlet seal/gasket. Already got the hoses, gotta scoop some coolant too. Trying to think of any other shit I’ll need.

>Timing belt and water pump kit will be in the very near future. And Front Brakes.
Anyone here do the distributor-less upgrade? I’m a part time pizza guy looking to help out muh’mpgs. And thinking of the mini-me swap.

Aaaand anyone know of good parts website that also has decent part diagrams, I need to replace some vacuum hoses too :\

Hey /hg/, I've finally decided wtf to do with my life, and I've ended up finding the Honda PACT program offered in San Diego. Becoming a mechanic and learning about cars is something I really want to do, and its a Honda/Acura focused course so it seems like it would be a perfect gig.
Anyone have any experience or opinions on it? I've heard its not worth it, and dealerships will just hire people for easy work off the street anyways, but it seems like having training is better than no training, plus the ASE certs you get from it seem like it would be a plus.

my 1998 honda civic has a transmission problem. It only has 134k miles but the tranny doesn't seem to know when to shift. Also, if you take off from a stop, sometimes it jerks pretty hard. What's causing this? I checked the fluid levels and it looks fine.

I'm not sure if the honda pact program offers ASE. From what I know Honda doesn't acknowledge the ASE's, they have their own qualifications. I'd say go for it, it's easy. Show up, pass the class. You'll be at 60% completion for a master tech just by dicking around in a classroom. If you already work for a Honda dealer most of them will pay for the tuition.

Your favorite color is primer???
:^)
>>
>>17280547
The dealer I work for, just got 1 New 2017 Civic SI, I didn't drive it, but my buddy did, sat in the passenger. I'm not sure How I feel about it, the turbo lag is real. He drove the shit out of it with only 10 miles. We probably fucked something up, but oh well. kek. Best thing about it is, rear seat cup holders are on the doors, and have 2 slots. Seats are nice, they hold you in well, but not like race car bucket seats. You also have to use the electric parking brake to turn off the car. It does have a nice kick to it though. grip isn't too bad. I think the sticker price was $24,775.
>>
>>17280655
It kinda is my favorite color actually, and having a glossy finish is really sexy.

Alright boys, I'm gonna go buy a harbor freight floor jack today. Should I get the steel or aluminum one?
>>
>>17280954
Steel one weighs nearly 80lbs but can lift twice the weight. I like the aluminum one because it's easy to carry over my balcony railing. 1.5 tons is more than enough for my 2000lb hatch.
>>
>>17280954

Whatever can jack your car up. The aluminum will be lighter. I have a steel jack and the bitch is nearly 100lbs. Carrying it from the shed to the cement pad sucks so an aluminum one would be nicer for that.

Tonight I was bored as fuck because the power was out in my house and parts of my county so I took my shitbox for a spin to get gas and check out how surreal not having any lights on the road was like. Coming home I pushed it a little too much and I saw a cop turn my direction so I turned into a neighborhood with the power out, got onto the side and pretended to stall and put my hazards on.

The cop followed me into the neighborhood and was following me but took off after I put my hazards on.

I fixed my fog lights tonight. Turns out the frame for the passenger fog light was blowing the fuse when it bumped into the grounding point for my horn. Wrapped that part of the frame up in electrical tape and it's all good, now.

Piston rings are toast, walls are heavily glazed, not scored up, car started misfiring so its time to replace the rings and gap them to turbo spec. I already got my full turbo setup ready to go together. Might replace the bearings. Also swapping a B18c5 ITR Cylinder head on. Had ITR Cams already in my B18c1 head, but I want the slightly ported and polished manifold from the factory, and pnp'd head.

Automatic right? Check this diagram and match the one you want with the part number. Then just search that part number on Amazon. Check eBay too. They are usually good about cheap OEM stuff.

A newer accord engine or an H22 VTEC from a fifth gen prelude?

Sounds like my passenger side ball joint has gone. Gonna have to get that done some time. Do I have to do both at the same time? Huh, weird, I happen to have a very similar question:

Is there any reason I shouldn't be rushing out to check this out?? Unfortunately its automatic, but it has 4 wheel steering, no rust visible, and it sounds like it was owned by a boomer who took care of it. Asking only $1500 so not much to lose.

Love the look of this gen. and always wanted some of them pop up headlights.
