I just got really lucky and happen to be going from one thread to another and saw it.
Leaving lowe's next week, no more going across the city on shitty highways to work only 5 hours
who honestly designs a highway to go from 3+1 exit lanes to 2 lanes only in the middle of downtown and expects it to not be shit on, then become a toll road

Where are you gonna be working now?
I know I posted this in the other thread but Im seriously thinking about selling my '08 civic and buying this
How much should I offer? Should I start at $3200 and work from there?
>>17205296
Is that the coupe?
>>17205323

I don't think he'd take that to be honest with you. If you pay more than $4k then you're getting scammed bigly.
>>17205395
>I don't think he'd take that to be honest with you.
I said I'd start at $3200 and he would make a counter offer.
I don't know how you do craigslist deals but I try to start low then work my way up slowly. If I could get it from $3500 or just under $4000 I'd be ok. But Im unsure how much EF hatches actually go for, esp here on the east coast.
>>17205372
I scooped this thing up for 2900. No rust 115k miles. I love it but I wouldnt pay more than low 3's for one
>>17205380
I believe it was a coupe, seemed short enough. Never really got a good look at the side.

I thought about how well this car has treated me, and felt bad that I had considered trading her in just because she's a little lacking in power.
100,000 problem-free miles and I'm pretty sure many more will come. At this point, I'm almost curious to see how long she runs before there's a major mechanical problem.

>>17206377
I'm surprised it didn't report the accident where it got rear ended leaving las vegas when I was a boy, the bumper cover doesn't even match the paint because of it. That carfax is some good shit since I don't have all the maintenance receipts, she clearly loved this vehicle.
>>17206387
Got any plans now that it's signed over? I assume the top part of your lights are the DRLs since they're fogged up more than the rest of it.
>>17206396
I'm gonna fix the AC because riding with the windows down at 80 mph sucks, get new headlights because they're both scraped really bad from hits, slowly fix the body so it looks really good, and just keep it running.
>>17206419
I think it would look great with black housing headlights. AC would be my top priority, though. It's so nice to have this time of year.
>>17206446
That would look pretty good against the silver, Even if I see OEM ones on the list of craig for cheap, I'll grab em cause it'll spruce it up.
>>17206455
As long as it isn't those goofy looking rice projector ones. Always so weird looking on all cars.
hey /hg/ I need help. I just converted converted my 4wd orthia to manual and used a prelude shifter. My problem is now the up/down gears are backwards (reverse is where 5th should be, 3rd where 4th should be etc..) I need to know what common vehicles have the cable shifter where the up/down movement are opposite of what a f/h series gearbox would be. Preferably something old that I will most likely find in a junkyard?
>>17206476
>Wannabe LEd looking things on an old CM

>>17206483
If it's 4WD I assume it uses similar stuff as the CR-V? Maybe a manual CR-V linkage will work? Don't get too many posters not from the US so there won't be much knowledge on the Orthia most likely.

yep 4WD, same as a CRV setup only different ratios. sadly they're hard to find here too which is the main reason I'm looking for other vehicles to donate a shifter

Would Honda fanboys get mad if they saw RSX OEM wheels on a new Kia Soul? I like them and they're a perfect match measurement wise.
>>17207943
Big enough to need $8124 worth of work on the front, the CM5 is built kinda retarded where a low speed crash wrecks the front.

Should be ready Wednesday. Might make it to a meet organized by Team Mad Society which is a majority Honda group. A lot of the members know the guy I bought my hatch from so I'm sure they'll know the car if I show up.
>>17211385
The parts CB7 that I have shows as 365k miles, iirc. That was obv before the auto on it went. Mine is estimated to have around the same amount, if not more.
>>17211654
Might be still kicking if it had a manual. Love that I see so many still despite being older than my EG.
>>17211697
Probably. I've thought about swapping it but I think the driveway will be her last stop after I get the parts off. There's also the option to completely mad max it, since I'd like to learn how to weld, paint, etc. and it'd be perfect for that.
I got the complete shaft bearing set for mine and replaced them, along with some seals (synchros looked fine, though if I could get smoother ones, then I'd like to replace them), because dummy me thought the transmission bearings were going bad (manual CB7, >>17208898 ) but it ended up being the front driver side wheel bearing. D'oh!
>>17211719
I've done like three wheel bearings on my car. Hopefully won't be doing that again for a long time.
Doesn't feel as good as my car, but it's fucking nice for a $500 car.
>>17211736
I'd tell you to clean up your bay but I am not one to talk right now, lol.
I haven't checked the rears yet; I probably will sometime next year since it rides pretty okay so far. It needs a lot of work right now, and I'm too afraid to write a list out right now honestly.
For $500 it sure doesn't look bad, though!

There's a couple more egs in my area damn. Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll be rolling around in something (just in time to get rekt by winter jej)
>>17212370

I have no experience with winter driving but I hear they're really good at it with the proper tires. They rust life crazy though unless you are actively preventing it.
>>17212399
Yeah the driving isn't what I'm scared of it's the rust. I feel like any 90s civic I'll see will be rusted to shit because winter gets pretty brutal here and it's kinda discouraging. I think building a "rally" civic could also be kind of unique and practical at the same time.
>>17212419
Yeah winter a shit. I'm sure with the proper coating it could do well, though. Bonus points for a garage. They're way more common in the southern US since winter and rust isn't really a thing here.

Whatcha guys think? Good deal or nah?
How would one go about seeing if a weild isn't stopping water?
Im a bit paranoid about the weilding on where i peirced the bottom. I get nervous after each time i work on this.
Did a few little fixes today.
Tried to get the front lip a little more flush. It was missing some bolts, and I got it lookin' better on the passenger side at least. I broke/lost one of the weird little clip things the bolts screw into near the middle though. Rip in piss.
Other than that, I finally got some power steering fluid and topped that shit off. Also got some screws for my sun visor clip things, so no more squeakin' happening.
Still have no clue on my timing problem. Too lazy to test things :^). Been thinking about getting the transmission fluid flushed. I have no idea of what state it's in. Probably bad.
>tfw it'll never be this cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-Wzk1VI01A

>>17212821 If it's like my manual transmission, you can always just pull out the speed sensor and dip something like a zip tie in it and put that on a paper towel to see the condition of the fluid.

After a few days of talking, we finally settled on an official date. This Wednesday is OFFICIALLY when I will get that Accord.
He's got the title (clean), and a bill of sale ready, so come Wednesday after he gets off of work, we'll do the deal and I will have my first car.
Of course, my drivers test isn't till June 6th, so in the mean time, lots of cleaning will be done.

Posted this in the QTDDTOT,
Have: 06 Civic Coupe DX-G - 315,000kms - works okay, alternator and clutch probably have another 15,000kms left. AC compressor shot. Dents, scratches, etc. Bought it at 200,000 with recently replaced engine block and new clutch. Bought for $3500 @ 245,000kms, can probably get $1500-1800. I'll keep my Pilot Sports & SI rims to put on the sedan.
WTB: 07 Civic Sedan EX-L - 143,000kms, very clean, paint only has a few rock chips. Interior is in amazing condition. Asking $4000, same guy I bought the coupe from (coworker's brother-in-law).
The Catch: The sedan has never had its engine block replaced and I feel if I buy it, it will be a ticking time bomb and within ~50,000kms I'll have to start looking for a R18 to throw in there.
What do? I know the upgrade isn't that big, but I feel like I've outgrown the coupe and the black paint has started to dull and doesn't look as nice anymore. It'll be a daily driver just like the coupe, just with pilot sports an SI rims, nothing else.
>>17216891
The EX-L sedan seems pretty nice, the the oil cap for gunky buildup to see if it's been oiled somewhat regularly, that'll give you an idea of what shape she's in, 143km is a little baby of an engine.
>>17216920

>>17216920
Good idea, from what I've been told the it's got maintenance records from the dealership and hasn't missed an interval. The engine block is the most worrying thing I have.
I change my oil and trans fluid at the dealership and buy parts all the time, and if I come in to ask for the engine block TSB I feel like they'll tell me to kick dust.
>>17216945
I wouldn't worry about the block, they really don't go to shit with age, my block is 13 years old with low miles and it runs like a champ.
>>17216953
Original block from 06-08 R18s?
The thing with these blocks is that they crack randomly, some say it happens more often around ~70,000 miles, and some have cracked with 150,000 miles (like my coupe). Literally playing the lottery.
Friend with an 07 thats turboed has his original block but I feel like he's just been lucky.
>>17216862
Doing some research there have been birds that are attracted to the side mirrors, because they think their reflections is another bird in their territory so they spend hours screaming and shitting on the car.
I just bought a 52" long 'realistic' rubber snake on Amazon. Hopefully putting the snake at different places will deterrent birds from sitting and shitting on my car every fucking day.
>>17216995

(Same car I've talked about a few times, getting it tomorrow for $400.)
>>17217441
Must have been that radiator cap that came with that radiator. It built up too much pressure and killed the head gasket. He's gonna try a sealer first and see what happens.
>>17217459

>Change gasket tomorrow
>Little more torque on the head bolts

>>17217508
you can get the head flattened out at a shop for a lot less, and you don't know what you're getting with a used head.
Honestly I'd just get everything flattened out, throw a headgasket on there, and go home
>>17217521
I need it ready by tomorrow night if at all possible. Dunno if they'd be too busy to get it done in time.
Maybe give it a look by hand with a straight edge. I don't think it ever got hot enough to warp it. Just enough to let the gasket go.
>>17217531
Yeah definitely check it first. If you need it that soon then your best bet is yolo new headgasket. thats life sometimes
>>17217549
I can do that. Should I get new head bolts or just add more torque to my current ones? I read all over that extra torque is just fine for them. Nobody around here really has them in stock.

>>17217700
Supposedly has build quality issues with interior plastics rattling. It's too soon to buy. Best one will be the last year of that generation when they fix minor issues
>>17217688
I've read a lot about it. A lot have reused them five to six times with no problems. They also say they used updated bolts in these engines that aren't torque to yield like the older D series like the EF ones.
I did buy new ones for the last head gasket last November so I bet they're fine to be used again.
The coolant in the cylinder is still clean so maybe the head is still good. I'd imagine it would get some kind of crud in it if the head warped.
>>17217705
Not that I know of, but I will be sure to check it when I buy the car. The only notable thing he did to the car per replacing wise is a belt (can't remember if he said serpentine or timing) and the battery. But given that he isn't that much of a car guy, we can assume it could be something like that or is a pulley related thing.

None of them.
I just hide in my basement and thank god I have ridiculously good insurance

I've never driven a Del Sol before, but they sound like a recipe for fun. The light weight and the short wheelbase probably makes it super fun to throw around. My LS Integra isn't fast but feels remarkably well sorted to be so heavy comparatively. I have a ton of fun with just carrying as much speed as I can through corners. I'd be satisfied with just a bit more torque with intake and exhaust mods for the sound, since I daily drive my car.

It'd be going in an 2000 LS. I wouldn't mind having to get a head and block separately, as long as they don't need to be rebuilt. I'm unsure of what else I would need to make it work besides a transmission/clutch and ECU.

Since it's already a b series chassis most of the work is done for you already
A head will run you ~400
a block will run you ~400
shift linkages ~100
clutch and flywheel ~130
ECU -> ~150-200 if you stay obd2
distributor 50-100
intake manifold 50-200 (current one doesnt fit)
best case: 1280
Worst case: 1530
Also you may run into issues with the header, but you might be okay too.
You'll also need to add the wires for vtec. If you buy an ebay subharness, add ~35 bucks
If you sell your entire swap for ~500 you'll be in it for:
780-1030
Prices are in american freedom dollars

Forgot you need a different mount to swap to manual. On hasports site it's $150 but there may be other options.
Don't know if you need a different t bracket

It's already a manual, I just wouldn't want to use the LS gearing with VTEC. I'm mainly toying around with the idea of this versus just keeping my trans and getting a stock B20 for the time being, but it sounds like I could potentially piece together something for not too much money.
