Couldn't get that cold air intake because there wasn't enough ports for my sensors.

There's a sensor that goes into the air box and it didn't look like it was short enough to fit in the intake if I tried cutting a hole into it.

Didn't know the 05 Accord had that many changes with emissions, compared to an 03 or 04.

I found one that's in good condition but it had a LHD conversion. Are these conversions reliable?

Also, is it good on gas?

Hey guys. My ignition lock hasn't worked ever since I got the car, and since a tweaker busted it even further, I'd like to use a push button and switch setup where the radio used to be. I've ordered the toggle switches and will get the S2K button, but first, does anyone know where I could get a custom or OTS metal (preferably anodized) plate I can drill the holes for the switches on?

Currently my only option seems to be to get the stock plastic radio blank but it's unaesthetic.

I have a '93 Accord and can measure it out if need be--I'm hoping to spend less than $50 on a panel though with the appropriate hardware. Should I use a double DIN kit and attach it to there, or is there another means of securing it that you guys might recommend?

Yes, I will be using other means of disabling the car so it's not completely vulnerable. Thanks again guys.
>>
Car gave it a hell of a shot but I couldn't finish my shift without the temp getting into risky levels. Started the day at an average of 170F, then as the day went on the average went higher and higher. Jumped the radiator fan to keep it on and it helped for about an hour but it wasn't enough. Way too much air in the system now. I'm gonna tear it apart tomorrow hopefully and find the source of the problem.

Is it possible for it to be the intake manifold at all? The air getting into it is clean. Coolant still looks brand new and isn't contaminated with exhaust at all.

I wouldn't bother with getting a kit if you have the skills to just fab the mount yourself and have it attach via whatever type of fastener you choose (visible screws on outside, magnets, metal velco, cabinet hardware, etc.) Inventables has 12x12 inch anodized plates for $29. Personally I would just grab a sheet of steel from Home Depot, coat it in an enamel or vinyl wrap, and clear coat it. They should have a size large enough to do the mounts and the front for ~6-8 dollars. All double din stuff should be about 7"x4".

Are you not going to be having a stereo at all in it? Because a single din would fit and you could put all your switches on a plate in the bottom tray. Also there's this for $11 from China
>>
>>17183243
The only place coolant is involved on the intake manifold would be the Fitv if you have one or the Iacv. I don't really see how you'd get air in either.
>>
Time for oil change i guess.
How bad are Bosch filters?
>>
>>17183776
Should be fine, I use whatever cheap shit the oil place gives and run my 5000 miles with no leaks.
>>
>>17183706
It's the biggest mystery.

>air getting in somehow
>not exhaust since it's not making the coolant dirty
>oil is clean

I do hear air getting sucked in somewhere that I haven't figured out yet but that may be an isolated problem. When I turn the car off and rest my foot on the brake I can feel it pushing my foot off the brake.
>>
>>17183691

It's the securing I've been curious about. There's a plate that I found for miata tombstones so I'm going to send them an email and see how they mount it. I'm thinking about putting in L-plates on the back and securing it to the dash that way.

I'd like to have a head unit, but I don't want it to get stolen, so I'm going to be buying a discrete bluetooth receiver that will output to an amplifier under the seat or in the trunk to play music to. My dad has a bluetooth receiver unit, about the size of a small phone, hooked up to his ghetto rigged home stereo which is how he manages to listen to music throughout the house.

As for powering it on/off, a simple switch will do to cut both, I figure.
>>
>>17183776

You'll be fine. I splurged for K&N for my last change though because I keep going for around 5k miles without a change, plus there's dust of the piston rings breaking in still around. Oops.

Changed knock sensor about 350 miles ago. Connector fell off so I soldered on a length of wire to the wire the connector was on, then soldered on the new connector to that wire. Made it easier to maneuver. CEL came back on today with knock sensor code. My brother is the one who soldered the connector to the wire and it was a pretty shit job. Gonna have to see if I can get a new dupont connector and make an actual good connection and hopefully that fixes it. Erased the code and went driving for a little, car is noticeably jumpy, like it's fighting for gas at times.
>>
>>17183854
Gotcha, Yeah then I'd have it screw from the front onto a brace you could fab up easily. Simplest solution. You could use security screws if you want.

Another option is to affix the sheet metal to the plastic blank. Then you wouldn't have to work about making anything to hold it

Hold me boys, I am picking up that '93 Honda Accord LX for $400 either tomorrow or the day after, and I am bouncing off the walls in excitement. Will post pictures when I officially get it in my hands.

Stock car save for some minor things like a new battery, and a new timing/serpentine belt (can't remember which one he said it was), upgraded headlights from the plastic housing to glass, potentially only two owners but could have been more.

243k miles. And despite the price tag and miles, it is a very clean and straight car. Baby'd as fuck by the current owner and only used pretty much to go to and from work, so I can expect it to last awhile before I would have to think about a new motor.
>>
>>17184087
That mileage is nothing if the engine isn't worn and pushing a shit ton of blowby when you check it, I've seen worn out motors with like 100k because lack of oil changes.
>>
>>17184095
Yeah the engine has had basic maintenance done, however my step dad and his friend, and cousin are all certified mechanics, and have access to a shop with tons of tools.

So we plan on taking apart the engine bay almost to get a closer look at everything there is.

>>17184018

Ye, I'll take a look into a double DIN solution and hopefully it won't get jacked easily. I'll definitely be using security screws countersunk for maximum aesthetics.

>>17184087

Nice find. Mine has at least 350k (est.) miles (bad odo), but rebuilt the engine 5k miles ago because my uncle and my dumbass turned the main crankshaft bolt the wrong way and had it shear off inside. Keep it clean, and post pics.

I'll most likely give that a shot. Been parking in clean spots and haven't noticed anything, though.

If we can't figure it out, I think it's best to just take it to a shop to diagnose it. The hunt for the source of the problem is the worst thing.

What. It slid off the area to jckstand into the underside cause the surface i had it jacked on was uneven and it was bearly on the frame.
Doesn't seem to hard to fix. At least i dont have to paint it. This bottle jack has always given me trouble though. Only thing keeping it from peircing further was the jack stand stoping the car from falling. I don't make the safest decisions.

Hydraulic jack and jackstands. Cars to low for scissors jack i have to lift the front from ground. I might try ramps or a floor jack at some point.

At the time I really wished it was an AE86 instead but looking back, that was probably one of the nicest condition cars I owned.

So I've mentioned before that I am getting a '93 Honda Accord LX. Hopefully tomorrow or the day after... Owner is trying to get in touch with his uncle to get the title from him, and a bill of sale (Owner is an idiot and didn't get the title registered in his name immediately.) Soon as he gets both, I'll have the car.

While I will keep it stock for awhile, down the road I was thinking that a H22 DOHC VTEC would be fun to swap in, I've heard it's fairly easy and doesn't need too much difficult work.

Any thoughts on that?
>>
Soldered new wire onto the knock sensor wiring harness, didn't get anywhere with CEL. Only other step is ordering a new knock sensor connector and actually removing intake manifold so I can solder it directly to the wiring harness.

They fucked up at this year's first round of Super GT too, with all but one NSX DNFFing on the opening laps. Quite embarrassing.

But they are good nonetheless.

Here, to heal your faith:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdEYM2BXsP0
>>
>>17191232

A soldered a longer wire onto the knock sensor wire because it's short and hard to get to, then I attached the connector to that wire. It worked for about 350 miles and then CEL came on again with p0325. Knock sensor for RSX S is different than any other k20.
>>
>>17191477
Did you reset the code after you did that? Because it's possible it wasn't fixed and was just delaying the code. Although it'd be interesting if the knock sensor went bad; it's just a microphone
>>
>>17190940

From what I've seen, it's an easy swap. Personally, when my F22 dies though, I'm going to splurge for a K24 swap instead. While the H22 is nice, I'd like something a bit more modern and efficient.
>>
>>17191513

I erased the code. Comes on now a little while after it's reset. Car felt fine to drive, certainly felt noticeably boggy after the light came on. Like it's fighting for rpms and jumpy on the throttle. I ordered another connector. I'll have to take off the intake manifold and connect it directly to the knock sensor wire and see if that fixes it.
>>
>>17191603
Yeah if you erase the code it won't necessarily come back right away, even if the same problem is there. I doubt that that's going to fix it but we'll see. Lemme know what happens
>>
>>17191638

I don't know what else would fix it. Where would you take a car for electrical work?
>>
>>17191719
Well the only other thing I could think of would be that the knock sensor itself isn't working.

I wouldn't know where to go for electrical since I pretty much do all of it myself. But if you got yourself a multimeter you'd have a good idea of whether or not the signal is making it to the ECU. Continuity testing goes a long way.
>>
>>17191962

There's people that switch out the k20 knock sensor for the one in the k24. But I suspect those people have hondata and can just upload different basemaps for their ecu that regulate the knock sensor.
>>
>>17192188
The knock sensor is just a microphone, so i really doubt the computer knows/cares.

Our credit card system is fucked. People who are broke can sometimes get a payment through for only part of the total and unless you check to see if it paid for the whole thing, you'll see "Approved" on the machine and assume it covered the whole thing. It's really easy for drivers to miss the "Amt Due" part at the bottom of the ticket and that's what she did. Apparently the customer knew this and took the chance to get all that food for $2+$5 tip.

I've seen it happen to pretty much every driver and even myself a few times. It's extremely easy to miss it when it's getting hektik.

Hey guys, wondering if anyone can help. I recently bought a 2001 Integra and it's been running pretty smooth so far, but there's one issue I've started seeing.
When stopped at lights, pulled over or just going to idle in general, there's like a 50% chance that my temperature meter will start going up (all the way to max if the lights take particularly long to change). As soon as I start moving again though, it rapidly goes back to normal (just below halfway point)...
Any thoughts on what this could be?

I was removing the sensor so I could give it a clean and retorque it. I have a k24 knock sensor I can try, but I don't have the pigtail for it. Called around here and no yard has an 02-06 RSX S.

Have a k20 connector on the way, think I'll buy another knock sensor and try to fix it, then if that fails I'll have to take it to someone with the parts.

Yeah. that's a 90 - 93 Accord.

Very easy solution to do a proper fix instead of all this wiring.

You'll need a 10mm socket wrench. A stubby short Philips screw driver, a long Philips screw driver, a flathead screwdriver, a pointed punch and a hammer.

Go to a junkyard. Remove the lower hutch panel under the drivers side. Remove/break the clamshell around the ignition. Unplug the pig tail from underneath the dash. Use the pointed punch to loosen the break away bolts that hold the ignition onto the column. Once you break them lose just hold the ignition up with your hand to remove tension on the bolts and they'll come right out.

Voila! Ignition is removed.

Go the glove box. Remove glove box lock(2 phillips screws)

There's a 4 digit keycode on the glove box lock that should allow you to make a key for the ignition. It should be between 5000-8000.

Take it to your local honda dealership and ask them to a cut a key by that number, or local locksmith. Should cost you around $10. The ignition maybe another $30.

If you want the ignition keyed up to your door, the locksmith can do that too. Usually around $50.

Just do it right.

Finally have a picture of my Accord with its new topper.

It's funny... on certain days I look at this car and am like, "This car isn't very appealing..." but most days I see potential in it being a racing machine, with it's decent wheelbase and good suspension, like I understand why it's able to pull off what I give it when I drive.

Because the 7th gen, and 8th gen, US-spec Accord is sold as the Honda Inspire outside the country, while the actual 7th and 8th gen Accord, which it's known internationally, is sold as the Acura TSX in the US. In the 90's, the Honda Inspire was originally sold as the Honda/Acura Vigor and Acura TL.

So, in other words...

The rebadged Honda Inspire is a poor man's Honda Accord.

I was literally just about to call the local locksmith to see if they could key it up to the door, since I have another complete CB7, same model and features (aside from interior/exterior color and it has an auto), that I was hoping to get the ignition lock out of. Going to just swap that one in. I have the keys and the codes for both cars (they're on the keys themselves).

I just wish I could keep the spare one, it's just the transmission that won't let it run.

Coming from experience. I can tell tweakers etc that are into stealing cars hardly ever use a screwdrivers to steal cars.

They either do one of two things.

1. Hit the ClamShell with a hammer
2. Slam that framing hammer down on the ignition then sheering it off the column.
3. Remove the switch off the back of the ignition
4. Start it with a screwdriver.

Or they just use a jiggler key. Which is far more common. In the 90s there weren't that many jigglers keys, so you don't really see the first technique very often anymore.

The worst that happens is they Break their worn ass key off in the ignition.
>>
>>17203349
actually to make matters worse in older hondas you dont need to remove the lock cylinder/shear bolts in order to get the ignition switch off.

All it takes is a 7/8mm socket (cant remember which off the top of my head)
