Yeah that's my bike
>maintenance
It's shaft drive, hydraulic clutch and front brake. So basically just oil changes and checking on the rear brake cable. Everything else I do once a year
>or two
I'm bored of the power from mine desu, it's faster than most cars but it's not fast for a bike. If you're not looking for speed it's probably more than good enough though.
Only things I don't like:
>gears are fucking short
I will sometimes get to third before clearing an intersection from a stop
>footpegs are low
It's a cruiser obviously, I scrape my pegs a lot on turns because I don't ride it like it's designed for.
Honestly it's a good bike. I think you'll like it if you get it. I'm just not the person the bike is made for.

They're not like full bar risers, just at a slightly higher angle, more parallel to the triple clamp rather than bent down. PO said they were the highest ones he could fit under the fairing and I haven't fucked with them because I like it.

miles really don't matter. Practice matters. Some people ride thousands and thousands of miles and never git gud because they never put in the effort to practice and learn good technique.

So make a conscience effort to git gud and you can be a "good" rider (by comparison to average) within 6k miles. You can probably be good enough to ride a supersport as well as anything else after a single day of practice on whatever beginner bike you choose.

My commute is about 65 miles roundtrip.
I ride everyday if it's above freezing.
Just start with like once a week, maybe you will enjoy the ride there and back more often.

you seem to be under the impression that both cylinders get the ignition on the same rotation in V-twin engines.

They dont.

Same with the 270° setup of the trixie, the timing is exactly the same. You could have a 270° parallel twin and a 90° V-twin next to each other and have them run entirely synchronised.

RHD cars are native to 10.942.555 kilometers or 6.799.388 miles or 28.2% of the world's road networks.

In Germany it's legal to drive vehicles directly from your home to the registration agency or inspection and back without plates if you already have proof of insurance for it. Is it not the case for the Netherlands? Does everything without plates have to be transported to the inspection?
>>
>>17196621
Uhm no. I had the german guy (he and his eife were really kind btw) deregister the bike, then put it i the van and drove home. my gf and I had some schnitzels and french fries. Really great good man.

Anyway, I had to make a one-day number plate to ride the bike to the inspection, pic related lol. The bike also had to be on private property until it has the permanent plate.

What's fucked up imo is that it's illegal for someone from the Netherlands to use a non-dutch vehicle on dutch roads. My mother in law wanted to import
>muhhh porsche

Took the calipers off to check the pads, still got some left for the track sessions tomorrow, will probably have to replace them afterwards though.

Gave the old chain a good clean with wd40 and relubed it, feeling a lot smoother now. I think I'll tighten it a tad bit and all in all bike seems to be okay, still have to put the maintenance covers on the side back in.

Let's hope I don't get any surprises tomorrow.

Yes, no reason to just go for a 400, but I quite liked the idea of a lightweight bike to prat around on
>>
>>17196688
Most 400s you'll find are going to be heavier than modern 600s unless you buy an MX racer.
>>
>>17196688
dirt bike with dual sport trim or motard wheels would be your best bet then if you are worried about being cramped.

alternatively look at bikes like the Kawasaki ER-5N/Ninja 500 or maybe the newer Honda CB500F or cbr500

Little bit here.

How important are crush washers when changing oil. Thinking of just using the old one. Also don't have a torque wrench, but my arm is pretty well calibrated.

How far am I from dumping my oil on the back tyre?

It's OK to reuse the washer and tighten the plug w/o using a torque wrench. Unless you are a monkey or an imbecile you'll be good.

300. Every time.

I made the restricted mistake; "oh I can just unrestrict it later and save money when I pass" The most miserable bike to ride, slow, doesn't idle well, bad at turning, everything wrong.
>>
>>17196795
Go for an A2 unrestricted. Like with 125s, they hold value reasonably well (don't buy it new you mong!) and you won't end up with a bike that enforces constant short-shifting.

Why is a permanently cucked bike better than a temporarily cucked one?
>>
>>17196784
K5 gsxr 1000
>>
>>17196887
Because the permanently "cucked" bike is made to use its entire rev range, and will also be lighter. The temporarily cucked bike is basically a large bike that kills the throttle at half the rev limit.
>>

>>
>>17196345
he posted last week and said he was superbusy and stuff
>>
>>17196887
I imagine because higher cc bikes are heavier. Restricting them to the lower cc doesn't make them any lighter, which fucks up the power/weight ratio they're designed for

>swim unassisted at x speed in water?
>or use a motor designed to push you at x speed through jello, but restricted to only have as much power as a human swimmer?

idk, that analogy is stretched but whatever
>>
>>17196917
I forgot to specify you're still going through jello in the second option
>>
>>17196896
>tfw same but 28
Not insane though, probably gonna start on a 600 Revere. Dat standard bike look with dat (in comparison to Harleys) high revving V-twin sound (it's basically a Japanese Ducati!), also dat single side swingarm with integrated shaft drive.
>>
>>17196887
You say temporally cucked as if you don't still have to ride it like that, on a restricted bike you:

Have a load of unnecessary weight, making it slower than an equally powered 300
Have wider tyres than you need, so steering feels wrong
Pay insurance of the larger bike, with none of the benefits, possibly paying more than an unrestricted version as it's "modified"
Fuck up your AFRs with some restriction types
Lose more value on the bike, because 300s are artificially locked in value, and that won't change
Lose power when you should be making more of it, which is incredibly unhelpful when learning to ride
Develop a hatred for motorcycles and everything they stand for

There is NO benefit to buying a restricted bike unless you're too fucking cool to be seen on a 300

I guess it's like college or religion or the army or death, it's too much to expect any of your current friends to experience the same kind drive that you experienced to take this kind of major life step with you. Why are supermotos called supermotos, dbt? They seem to be a cross between dirtbikes and {street, sport}bikes, neither of which have super in the name and both of which are motorcycles. I don't think they're related to superbikes.

On a related note, the existence of a hypermotard seems to imply the existence of at least a motard and probably a supermot... ard? Do those exist? What are they?

>>17197166
And I bet motard is the same in Italian as French, that makes sense. And hypermotard is just Ducati being cute (see above) about making a bigger badder prebuilt supermoto, right? Ie, no one else calls one of their products a hypermotard?
>>
>>17197199
nah, italians say supermoto, spanish too
english appropriated it

the hypermotard is called like that because it's a motard with a bigger engine

incidently it defeats the point of a supermoto, since it weighs like a streetbike and handles like one

ducati tend to use such names, the superleggera is "super light" SS stands for supersport multistrada is a bad translation of "all roads"
>>
>>17197199
Yes, Ducati being cute. Marketing saved the company, after all
>>
>>17197087
Sure. Leave the drive mode in "rain" or "urban" for the first six months.

Just be aware that it's around $2000USD for bodywork and controls every time you fall over. And you will fall over, if only in a parking lot.
>>
>>17197216
>ducati likes to use such names

And fuck ducati for it. Bikes are so much easier to remember if they just stick to a couple letters. Nobody cares what gsxr, drz, sv, cbr, wrf ect means but at least the bike names quickly get to the point and displacement difference in the name to seperate the models both makes sense and gives normies an idea of how big the bike is.

What the hell is a panigale or multistrada?

The Panigale is named after Ducati's home neighborhood in Bologna, Borgo Panigale.

Multistrada is a faux Italian coinage. "Strade multiple" would mean "many roads" in Italian, but they turned it into Multistrada in an effort to make it sound more modern and recognizable.
>>
>>17197274
Ehhhhhhhhh
As a newbie to the scene, names that aren't letters are much more approachable and easier to keep straight. This is why I was much more attracted to the ninja family at first even though that name is used for so many things it's almost useless. Same for others - sportster, vstrom, shadow come to mind. Later i did research and now I know what to expect from a GS, CBR, KLR, R, etc, but that took quite a bit of time. I'm still clueless about the ones like FJ (adventure?) and XJ (motocross?) and FZ and ZX (only sport one to have an X in the name??) because I haven't looked at much besides sportbikes.
