Nothing brainwashed about the fact that any real job is going to have a pre employment drug test and background check.

That time you got popped for some stupid amount of weed and pissing posititve will cost you that job.

It's cool that you're willing to give up a career so you go take mind altering substances in order to take your mind off how shit your life is. Really it's cool bro. You are cool because you do weed. 100% (insert fire and 100 emoji here) #smokebluntzeveryday #420killa #DRGREENTHUMB

Yes, it's held on by two bolts and two struts and a cable. It's not something you can just do on a regular basis because it has to be properly aligned to drive correctly, plus the leading link forks apparently are very weird to drive on solo.
I paid $6000 for a 2006 with 12,000s on it.

Ive driven 3000kms with no issues. Just requires more preventative mainentance than a jap bike. Oil changes must be done on a regular basis, etc

But the longer wheelbase, higher center of gravity, soft suspension, and lower power:weight ratio totally makes it better through the twisties. Especially with the stunning value of being 25% more expensive new and getting significantly worse fuel mileage.

FALs are cool in the way that 1960's motorcycles are cool.

They look and feel neat but are totally outperformed in every way by other designs.
>>
Just signed up for an MSR 'Basic Motorcycle Operation' 16 hour course next weekend. Bikes are provided, but they say you may bring your own if it meets various criteria, which mine does. Should I bring my own bike for familiarity, or use a provided bike for when WTF-CRUNCH happens?

Bring your own for practice, or use theirs for some variety.

You aren't going to wipe out. My wife recently took the same course and had about 30 minutes of experience on a motorcycle going into it. She did fine. The only guy in her class that wiped out was a persian on the first day, and he didn't come back the second day.

You can find used ones for a little less than a new DSA 58.

DSA uses styers old tooling from their Stg 58 so theyre bretty gud.

I kinda wonder how a rifle slung on a bike would upset handling?

And the abysmal precision potential.

The FAL is like a 2-3 MOA rifle at absolute best. It was good for its purpose, at its time, but it's outdated and outclassed now.

Still a fun gun to own and shoot, but be realistic about it. Still a good rifle, if you want a long, heavy, 3 MOA gun in 7.62x51 and reliability is your primary concern.

Its still loads better than an M1A, between the history and being 8/10ths what a SCAR17 is its not so bad.

I guess put a little differently a SCAR 17 costs 3 times as much, but isnt 3 times better.
>>
>>17146752

You're right, M1A a shit.

SCAR 17 >/= AR10 > FAL / PTR / CETME > M1A

And the FAL is still a better value than the SCAR.

I'm not trying to shit on your love for the FAL anon, I just don't want you to be one of those shitposters that acts like it's the ultimate rifle.

Kinda like how a café bike looks like a capable machine, and maybe will be more capable than its stock form, but it still cant hang with a brand new canyon carver.

I've heard it's a nice beefy leather boot but they just had to fuck it up by adding a zipper. I've had side-zip combat boots and they're prone to failing.

It's a rather underpowered trail motor. Doesn't come with the convenience of being factory street legal, nor the long maintenance intervals of a traditional dual sport. By the time you go through the troubles of getting it kitted out, you could have gotten a better bike for the same amount of work.

The specs on the P50 are nuts, 4k screen with greater than Adobe RGB color gamut, 64gb RAM, Xeon CPU and Quadro GPU, can drive 3 monitors over USB Type C and accept an addition two M.2 SSDs on top of the 2.5" I have, also has a docking station I use.
Drivers for all that fancy shit on Arch blow though, takes at least two days of maintenance every month seems like.

zipper seems good quality and solid.

Taking them off and putting them on without it seems like more trouble than it's worth. adjusting the straps with them on and the zipper up is borderline impossible.

I have also had zipper boot issues in the past but my SIDI's have a medial zipper too and they hold up fine.
>>
>>17147478
OK. If you don't think you will mind trail bike problems then go for it. I can't tell you what you will like or not.

But for me, I wouldn't want that bike as a road bike. I hear it's great on the trails though. My DR-Z is about 30% more power than the XR400, and I definitely wouldn't want anything slower out on the road.

Be careful when your learning, I'm sure everyone will say it's fine but it's not really.
Things to avoid
>Gravel/stones
Even just a few on a road will make you lose traction
>Man hole covers/any metal covers
In the rain, especially if your turning on them, are extremely slippery
>Road marking lines
All painted lines are extremely slippery in the wet

Just practice, I've ridden for 6 years and ride like an idiot and have never come off. But in saying that I've come close due to the things listed above.

Mate I could give you the long story but you won't take any of it in so I won't bother. I hung around stoners for a long time. I wasted years of my life dealing drugs and using. I saw what pot does to people more than most people will ever get the chance to. I lost a friend to suicide which was solely because of his drug use. Another friend ended up in the psych ward because of schizophrenia which was brought on when he started smoking weed (I know it is biological to a degree but there's no denying weed brings it to the surface), he tried hanging himself infront of his own farthernot long after. Another associate crashed his car when he was high. And a huge amount of others had moments before the courts etc. Stoners are lazy, useless members of society (inb4 you know a lawyer who smokes daily). I've heard all the bullshit excuses since I use to use them myself. I've truly seen the bottom and I'm glad I'm sober and cut ties with everyone I knew. Weed does cause harm, sure other drugs can cause a lot more, I've seen the worst of it. Stop using drugs. Seriously.

No, if anything pot was stopping him from doing it sooner and schizophrenia is a genetic condition, you will get it pot or no pot, That bullshit about weed bringing it to the surface is just a blatant lie.

Don't. Just use what the manual recommends. I only put low octane in my DR350, that's what the engine was designed for. That, and plenty of these bikes have made it around the world on shitty gas poured from buckets in 3rd world countries. That mechanic is probably generalizing. "Hoho I always use 91 in my race bike, that's the best shit, you should run it in your dual sport!"
Experiment if you want, take note of the differences. Better to just save your money and buy low grade. I've read that higher octane fuel burns slower, hotter, and increases carbon buildup. Some people with big bore kits will run higher octane, but I'm assuming yours is stock.

The first time was the seals that the previous owner had, I changed those with cheapo ebay ones that lasted a few months without issue, but then I bent my forks (I did a log hop, lost control, and hit a tree) for new forks on ebay, them about 6 months later those blew (I just now found them)
Would switching to heavier fork oil help?

It shouldn't matter. The issue isn't the oil viscosity, it's the wear that they see and how much abuse the rubber can take before a channel opens for the oil.

Try scraping the area between the tube and seal with a cut up plastic milk carton before you replace them

Looking at buying a helmet so I can ride my KLR250.
What brands should I be looking at? Any features? I don't know anything about helmets.

I'll be doing a lot of off road, riding around the farm and a bit of road riding.
>>
>>17148440
How much do you want to spend?

GMax GM11 is a great budget dual sport helmet. Bell MX-9 for a bit more expensive but super light.

Or you could get a full on dirtbike helmet and goggles but they really suck for road.
>>
>>17148440
No helmet is good at both, dirt helmets have an extended jaw so that can dig into the dirt and you won't break your jaw when you come off, road helmets are designed to have little friction when sliding across the road.

Road helmet can be worn on dirt but you risk broken jaw/teeth and dirt helmet can be worn on road but you risk a broken neck when the extended jaw causes your head to pivot in a slide so idk.

Id want both, i recommend any cheap dirt helmet that meets the standards and get a hjc fg17 for on the road. (road is where you need the best helmet)
>>
>>17148462
>road is where you need the best helmet
I am sorry but my brain damage from an accident on a dirt bike says otherwise.
>>
>>17148458
the mx9 is the best one for off road.

most ventilation of any of the helmets and yeah it's nice and light. you can pop the visor out and use goggles if you wanted to too

I'll look into getting both, but I'll be off road 80% of the time.
>>
>>17148473
obviously you always want a helmet but there is more fast moving hard shit on the road than on a muddy field.
>>
>>17148528
Both can still result in just as serious of an injury though, a 100kmh crash on a road bike can leave you with no injury because you slid down the road and came to a gradual stop where on a dirt bike a 50kmh crash can kill you because you stopped instantly when you hit that tree.

The old speed doesnt kill it is the sudden stop that kills saying comes into play i guess and stopping suddenly on dirt is way more common.

I always see dealers turn a bike by resting it on the sidestand and just turning it around on the spot.
even with heavy 200kg+ bikes.

never saw a private person do it.

is it reckless? if yes, why do dealers do it.

seen it done both in europe and asia by dealers on brand new bikes.
>>
>>17148834
Because normally dealers have smooth floors and limited space.
I do basically the same thing, only with my centre stand.

Buy a used supermoto. A DRZ or something like that.
If you crash your brand new CB500F while trying to wheelie it will be expensive.
