yeah that's what I meant, last night I figured it might've been the CPU overheating because it got so bad when I restarted it went into beepbeepbeep mode, so I took it apart and blasted it with compressed air. Now it appears that youtube + 4chan is drivving my CPU temp to a steady 70 which really isn't right. Maybe I installed the fans wrong? Airflow is supposed to be coming from the inside out (what I did) not the outside in, right? I was tired when I did this.

The reset thing in the apps & features control panel. It wipes the local cache data (including the save but it should be synced) and might help.

High temperatures might explain the shit performance but I doubt they would induce the graphical issues. I'm more thinking of a GPU issue, perhaps something related to what I presume is a compiled shader cache (the whole optimizing pass done on the first launch), cache that is wiped by the local data reset. Though your computer is running very hot, I play on a gaymen laptop and 98°C is the normal operating temperature when gaming, but 70°C in just web browsing is insane.

You want negative pressure inside the case to avoid dust buildup. Basically more fans blowing out than in. Air in from low points of the case and hot air from top.

Changing thermal paste for your IHS and HSF are probably the best things to do to bring down your temps.

With $5 worth of paste and $30 heatsink+fan you can get old stuff like 2500k(6 year old CPU) up to 4.5Ghz-5Ghz with relative ease.

Thoughts on Dirt Rally? I only just realised its in the humble monthly bundle for 12 bucks and I'm considering getting it.

All I'm really looking for is a game that gives me an approximation of what it feels like to absolutely beat it down crappy mountain roads in a proper shitbox, preferably with custom liveries and plenty of tracks.

Dirt Rally doesn't really have shitboxes. BeamNG Drive would probably be the better game for you for what you describe. You have proper shitboxes like GM K Platform cars, Crown Vics, old Pickup trucks and even a Reliant Robin like Pickup. None of them are licensed though.
The damage is also way more detailed.

The problem with it currently is that it is in Early Access and there isn't much gameplay yet apart from just smashing shitboxes in some open levels. But they've slowly started making campaigns.

well, you can buy a cheap mixer, although it's probably a little bit of overkill. Google for "simple two channel stereo mixer" or something, but be aware that if your mike is condenser one, you need to power it. your soundcard does that for you, but after going through mixer you might need to power it again. Every mixer that's not complete and utter shit has this kind of power (it's called phantom) though.

it's overkill, but if you have only one audio in, there is no other way. Maybe small "two channel headphone mergers" exist, but i don't know anything about it. What i can tell you for sure is that wiring two sources together passively will rape audio quality.

You can actually win 3 cars a day by doing the daily free-drive cop chase crates that were added with CAU. Once you get all of the cars you can get from the crates, you get shit loads of money from them instead. GUYS. What handbrake do you guys use? I've been drifting in AC and its amazing how well clutch kicking works but if I had a decent handbrake I would be golden. I don't like using on/off handbrake buttons either.

I've found some products but they seem to be direct mount, and I'm looking for something detachable. I'm willing to pay $$$ if its a good one.

3/10 Physics: The cars are basically one tyre fires when you are steering no matter what vehicle you are in. The game feels very restrictive despite being an arcade focus. Power delivery seems very off with cars having the inability to actually oversteer rater are very sluggish handling wise.
6/10 looks was an 7 when when wild run first came out
6/10 content: map is pretty much appreciated for its grand size. However it compromises in detail. There is quite a bit of repetition or just bland areas inside and outside cities. The landmarks make it bearable but far from perfect. Also personally the huge stunt parks added in from wild run kinda kill the immersion to be honest.
3/10 Story: it was very shoehorned in. There is not much replay value. Just your run of the mill cliche story writing.
5/10 Car list: there are some good cars included, just not enough or behind pay walls.
6/10 Customisation: great on some cars: completely nothing on others. Creativity shouldn't be a problem really and most parts are just incredibly subtle changes to say the least.
3/10 Multilayer: PvP areas are a mess it was pretty bad trying to get into a lobby a few months ago before calling all units not sure how bad it is now. Overall It's very limited I rarely if ever see a big group of people together maximum 3 people. Custom races were added but not in the PvP area so they are essentially one way of getting money. Leagues had some purpose but they are just slow grinds for some fancy painy that looks tacky.

I'm not sure about the Porsche, but the Jaguar was originally a GTR2 mod that was locked behind a sekret club barrier (on EEC's forum, no less). I'll check that website to see if it and the Porsche are there though. The Porsche was done by some guy named SilverSun, if that helps. I might PM a mod on EEC or one of the other sites to see if I can get the mods just for myself as I use GTR2 only for single player stuff, but who knows if that would work.

Ok, just checked eSport racing and they aren't there. In any case, someone else did a 991 GT3 and while it isn't as good it will work for now. It probably uses the PCars model since the paints are set up completely different to the Assetto Corsa model, unless other games have a 991 GT3; in which case, I'm hosed unless someone here has it (and the Jag).

I believe they fucked the balance by making cars drivable. Shit like 1000 HP C class cars tend to be tuned with stock vintage tires that grip way, wayyy too much in H3.
In truth, the game's biggest weakness when it comes to balancing is how effective drifting through events is.

The core problem with FH3 is that the map is counter to the goal of balancing grip and speed. Identical balance on standard, realistic tracks would be massively more balanced but pretty much every makeshift track in Horizon 3 is either very, very flowing or somewhat tight but with very long straights to make up for it. This is a necessity due to the location and the goals they had for gameplay (ie focusing a lot on offroading).
