l find that white is too easy to mistake for something else, like road markings or a background object. A lot of things in the world are white. Yellow is a far more uncommon occurance in everyday settings. I don't understand how black is supposed to stand out at all, and even if it does it's pretty useless if its visual impact is limited to country roads in sunny weather.

In a city you have a lot of darker colours, making white stand out.
Don't know why black works that well though.

I use a combination of Black, blue and white, with reflective lines.
Apparently I light up completely in the dark, which is pretty nice as a commuter.

Outdoor objects like road markings aren't really that white, they're pretty grey from dirt and wear. Whereas say, fluorescent yellow road signs or construction worker vests are still bright.

In the country helmets are primarily being viewed against a backdrops like light sky or clouds and are being blown out by the sun.

TZR250 Vtwin.

I imported this one. Found out it had a blown cylinder after putting a few hundred miles on it running on 1. Had it rebuilt using TZ parts for a bit more compression and power.

Of course, I never changed the tires from the stock shit ass ancient crap that was on it, so I lowsided it when I took it out on track, hence the rash on the tail.

Keep in mind you can use any of the engine parts from the Aprilia RS250.

You will DEFINITELY want to look at the powervalves on her. They had a nasty habit of shearing off and dropping into the cylinder and fragging the whole engine. This goes for all Suzuki RGV engines up until they started schlepping them to Aprilia.

Please make sure you check yours out thoroughly; theres a load of info on the internet about this issue. Its the sole problem you could have with an RGV. Make sure you sort this and she'll be your slave forever.

Well we haven't bargained a price yet. It just got the second service and the bike is mapped to the full exhaust. It's not too far off from turning it into a cafe like I'd like to - maybe some woodcraft clipons and change the seat.

Also kbb values the bike at 7,100 in excellent condition. And it's in A+ condition (older rider)

I've owned a versys 650 and ridden sv's numerous times. Took a versys from philly to maine with hardbags and a tankbag. No problems at all. Decent power; although with luggage on the highway you might start to want a wee bit more power. Nothing like doing the same on a 650cc single which I've also done.

Versys 650 is a great all around bike. Comically loud with an exhaust. Perfect fuel injection. Can and would ride for several days straight.

I have a 15, realistically it needs 800+$ of parts before the suspension on point with the 17, them much more if you like the much brighter headlight or the slipper clutch, or the abs/tc.

They fixed the forks, rear shock, and also added tc, abs, and a slipper clutch. Worth it if you have the money in my opinion.

That said, I just bought a 2015 and have no regrets. I got it new otd for almost 4k less than what I could have gotten a 2017 for, thats a ton of extra money to fix the suspension and give it a tune.

An sv650 was my first streetbike, I also came of a 250 two stroke dirtbike. It was an awesome first bike, I had it three years without a single issue, and it still beats 99% of cars on the road
>>
>>17075654
If you do much street riding the XRR will probably be better. If you primarily ride off road and outside an open desert then the KTM will probably be better. Get any of the EXC models. The 450EXC of the same years is the same everywhere except the piston and cylinder bore.

why is getting a dirt bike street legal so hard?
>>
>>17077801
if in CA because they think its unethical or something, the whole system is designed for you not to do it.

its just cheaper to get a street legal already. even having registration+legality transferring from out of state is basically at-will and able to be revoked at any time, usually after you get pulled over.

in other states you can literally just check a box that says "yep its street legal trust me" and collect your registration a week later in the mail
>>

California is such a fucked state but I love it because I can """""""""""""LEGALLY""""""""""" split lanes

Matter of perspective. I find it keeps me more mentally active, but I barely have the volume up at all.
You need some kind of hearing protection anyway.
>>
>>17078367

You're hearing will barely help you with accident avoidance

Where is your mirrors? Take them off to practice?
>>
>>17078367
Probably a little wee bit, but its not like your hearing anything on the highway anyways.

I only really use headphones if Im going on a longer trip outside of the city
>>
>>17078390
Stock mirrors are worse than just keeping your head on a swivel.

Also, any car that can keep up with me here is a diesel that i'll hear coming
>>
>>17078397
Get some proper mirrors, imho lifesavers are complementary to mirrors since they don't gieve you the same idea of what's around you

PRO-FUCKING-TIP
if a fuel tap is down DOWN, that's MAIN
if a fuel tap is turned UP, that's RESERVE
DON'T LEAVE IT TURNED UP

by the grace of god I petered out at the top of a hill with a petrol station close to the bottom
still worked up a sweat getting it there though
I was more worried about the gunk from the bottom of the tank clogging the carb, shall have to give it a good clean soon
>>
>>17078404
I'll buy some some bar ends along with replacement parts for the damaged bits in a few weeks when I head back to the states
>>
>>17078406
I thought if you run the tap in reseve for a little bit it gets the fuel from the bottom of the tank so it sucks up the gunk regardless if the tank is full or almost empty
I usually run the bike in reserve after I fill up the tank to be sure the bottom of the tank doesn't build up shit

>100 miles uphill vs 100 miles downhill
>>
>>17078438
Not really lol, my bike gets between 200km per tank and 400km per tank depending on how you ride it.
>>
>>17078440
I don't live in an area with a 5mile incline over 100 miles, so you may have merit.
>>17078441
If you're riding on a track, you're not going to be doing that many laps for it to be of concern.
>>
>>17078448
when was a track mentioned we were talking about running out of fuel

Its true, motorcycles produce boners, not wet pucci.

Naturally a homoatractant.
>>
What should I get as my very first bike? Is buying brand new a bad idea?
>>
>>17078584
I bet if a girl sits on a running motorcycle long enough she would get wet.
vibrations do things to girls bits after all.

No, she said she would never ride on the back with me again. Not very attractive tbqh so I'm ok with that.
>>
>>17078591
You could say the same about a lawnmower.
>>
>>17078617
A lawnmower probably works too.
i imagine a 2 stroke motorcycle would work best though.
>>
>>17078617

gotta say the W800 is probably the least guilty as its a legit retro bike.

>air cooled
>no exhaust box
>no ABS
>shaft driven OHC
>fucking DRUM BRAKE

aside from fuel injection and cat its a 1960s bike.

The Bonerville meanwhile is a 100% dressed up 2017s bike.

Dont even consider one. Big Papa Huang shipped ten container loads of them in from china illegaly. I have insider information about forty five king cobras being smuggled in the fuel tanks
