what is /dbt/ opinion on handlebar risers?
how do they affect handling? are they bad?
also aftermarket handlebars
>ride my bike for more than 20 minutes
>starting to feel pain in my back
>keep riding
>put weight in the handlebars
>i know its bad
>now my arms hurt
>come to a stop before 40 minutes of riding
>crack all my back
>seriously just fuck up my back already

i want to rise my handlebars by an inch, or inch and half, but i heard these could affect the bike handling because of muh engineered that way
also how much does /dbt/ lean while riding

Don't need a 450, 250 handles better and it is easier to get the power to the ground (thing still makes 40bhp) so in tight trails you are a hell of a lot faster, only be open trails that the 450 would come out on top.

Plus i have the 300 and that is more powerful than any 450 on the market, thing makes near 60bhp atm.

Old motorcycles generally have fewer miles than old cars and the ones that do have high mileage have committed owners. Plus in North America most bikes are sold as hobby purchases rather than utilitarian vehicles (which is part of why they have fewer miles) so they are more comparable to old sports cars which also stay on the road much longer.

The average person is also utterly incapable of identifying most motorcycles and they're relatively cheap anyways so new bikes aren't used as a social signifier of success so much.

>>
>>17015436
Why would i though? we have already established it is a shit riding style and the only people who think it is good are morons who think touching knee to the ground adds 20kmh to their corner speed when in reality they could probably add 20km/h to their corner speed by not putting their knee out then leaning the bike further in and the top of your body further out.

and i have plenty of friend just none that are willing to sit on the side of the road while i prove a point to some autistic nobike on 4chan.

then it ain't done. We need to talk about strips anyway, once y'all ran a few different tyres you'll realize they all have different lean angle limits and the same given lean angle is gonna give you different strips on different tyres.

>>17015574
hell no, find a really nice moderately twisty road (you're in france this shouldn't be hard), take it slow as fuck (so slow you don't need to use the front brake when entering corners) and Focus on your lines (wide entry, narrow exit So enter the corner as wide as possible, by the halfway mark you should be in the middle of your lane, and as the corner ends you want to be all the way on the inside, that way if you go wide you have a buffer to the oncoming lane or armco on the other side.)

Once your lines are perfect and you know every corner off by heart you can just slowly work your pace up km by km.

You only crash when you go too far out of your comfort zone too fast so if you just go a little bit faster every time you'll be laughing, you should do this same strategy when practicing body position too.

Valve clearances and loose cam chains are memes and only affect dual sport riders

a late 80s-90s sportbike, as in proper sportbike not some 600cc baby bike or sport-standard, will go forever with just oil changes

I'd rather just get proper dirtbike bars instead. They're wider, look cooler, and stronger.

Send your cases to thumper racing and have them do the merge mod, no more separate oil tranny/motor. Never have to worry about oil migration again.
>>
>>17015954
How about no lol, KTM did it because the gearboxes in those bikes have a habit of exploding and as a consequence the entire engine is destroyed if they share engine/gearbox oil
>>
What post-MSF training do you guys recommend for kids who want to go fast and learn to do other stuff good too? And how do you recommend allocating funds to instruction vs to track time?

(also note that I don't have a car, so hauling bikes is out right now. perhaps that would be the optimal investment.).

So, I'm finally buying gear, never had to before. I normally just had second hand gear from family.
I'm looking at this Joe Rocket jacket for $170, seems pretty cheap for what looked and felt like I good jacket.
Any of you have any experience with the brand or an opinion on it.
Or maybe something else I should look at in a similar price range.
There was a Klim (I think it was called) I wanted cause it was broad in the shoulders, but bit out of my price range.

But I can't afford it.
Especially cause the pads are sold separate and I think combined I was looking at $350-400
>>
>>17016139
Dont be a bitch and get a proper leather jacket that is at least 1.3-1.5 mm thick. And dont fuckin skimp out on the helmet either.

No shit.
I was planning on getting $2k this week but it didn't happen and no I don't know if it ever will, and I just want gear so I can go ride.

>>17016180
Could you recommend something, seriously when it comes to gear I know little to nothing. Also, are there leather jackets that breathe well, cause I need something for warm weather as well.
But not skimping out on the helmet, one thing I know not to do.
>>

you did the right thing.
>>
>>17016185
My itch to ride is too great for me to save up.
I'll just get better gear later.
I'm almost deciding not to get a jacket at all, but I really should.
I'm not even getting gloves yet. That will be later this month.

Also, helmet I decided on was a Scorpion r710, thoughts?
>>
>>17016186
Man, I truly feel bad for guys on a budget like you because you just either get something unsafe or uncomfy.

I bought this jacket and I love it
https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-ravin-jacket

I live in AZ and doing 110F is fine. Just open up the vents and that thick ass leather protects you from direct sunlight. My legs are more miserable in jeans than the leather b/c of the direct heat.
>>
>>17016179
That little? My jacket was €450 which is pretty cheap for the quality.

>>17016186
Look for second hand leather jackets. Perforated for warm climates. Only good textiles are expensive as fuck and still they're one time use most of the time.

>>17016185
It is when buying textiles

I mean, when I started all I had was a helmet too but I got gear the second I could afford it. I've gone down before and the gloves + jacket + helmet really helped me make it out okay. Gloves and helmet being priority since you put your hands out when you try and fall.

I still dont have proper boots or pants though.. I have leather pants for cross state trips, but not for every day commuting.
>>
>>17016199
I'd be on less of a budget if money had come in this month like it was supposed to.
But my urge is almost more than I can take right now, so it's either squid it up, or get something on the cheaper side.
This is something for the here and now, and as a spare when I upgrade.

>>17016201
And I'm ok with one time use right now, I should be able to afford something better within the next year.

>>17016229
Oh I know, I used to have all of that, good helmet, jacket, gloves. But now I'm starting all over again. And gloves definitely soon, I've supermaned over the bars of a bike before without gloves, still have a tiny bit of scarring on my palms.

Thanks for the advice there was guys. I'll give a think on the jacket for now.

Cheap universal saddlebags wont fit an fz09 without fabbing up some sort of bracket to stop them from hitting the back tire, and Im way too broke for bike specific luggage.

worth noting I never tell people that, MT-07/Sv650 type bikes have a more severe/jerky throttle pull than 600s, especially down low.
