Wich and why?
>>

Centre stand, for ease of maintenance.

I have a long standing dream of moving to Seattle, or at least the general area

we all know it's rain city 8 months out of the year

how much does it affect riding? I'm not talking about comfort, I can (and will) always get rain gear.

I mean in the actual technical aspect. Here in florida I can rip around corners because the roads are hot and dry. Can you still hoon well out in SEA considering the wet pavement most of the time?
>>
>>16949334
Crash bars, because ADV bike riders crash so much they make GSXR brahs look like rossi.
>>
>>16949343
Riding in the rain, day in and day out, no matter how good your rain gear is, is fucking miserable.

Yeah but those are warm.

I mean if you're up for it, go for it. I lived in Oregon and rode nonstop for a year and it is genuinely not fun when it is 42 degrees out and it's raining every single day.
>>
>>16949446
the cold's never bothered me, I'm a butcher and they keep the cutting room I work in 50 every day. Sure riding in the cold is another thing, but I've ridden through winter and it's not too bad.

The only thing I could see bothering me is the dreariness but I think I could deal as long as I could ride my bike.
>>
>>16949343
>Can you still hoon well out in SEA considering the wet pavement most of the time?
You can't really hoon too well in the rain. Clutchups often don't work because it just breaks traction, speeding can fuck you over if you need to emergency stop, can't lean as far, etc.

And a good day to you gentlemen, is this a place we can talk about vintage motos? I have plenty of cool photos taken with my Canon Mkiii of other builds at latest instagram moto meetup in Brooklyn. There was plenty of delicious cappucinos to drink and fine suits spotted among the gentry.

Perhaps a bit too optimistic... Well I don't know what this specific bike weighs but I would guess 515-535 or so. So yeah around 500 lbs. No?

A stock 1st gen Bus fully wet is what 580 or so? A stock 2nd Gen Bus is about 586 fully wet. That is full stock and full wet...so just accounting for a nearly empty gas tank instead of full will change the weight at approximately 6pounds per gallon on a 5.5gallon tank. So just that alone will drop weight down about 30 pounds. Still think no?

Are you sure gas is coming from the gasket? Because if you seated it, there's a good chance your right and it's pouring out of the vent tube or the barrel itself

Old parts aren't hard and vintage Jap meets are fun. If you can make Barber Vintage it's IMO da best motorcycle event in the US and the museum alone takes a very full day to see.

BTW legit classic Jap cafe machines with custom racing frames like Rickman or Seeley are fine as fuck and major upgrades in handling over their donors. They were the way to get a Jap sportbike before factory Jap sportbikes existed. They are more classic than the donor street machine.

>>
>>16950092
If that's the issue it tends to dump fuel out the overflow pipe, but I can see it being possible. Had a stuck needle valve on mine due to shitty chinese replacement parts being oversized and getting jammed half-open.

If its the float itself there's a slim chance you can free it by giving it a tap with a hammer. not likely, but you can do it without stripping carbs. Realistically though, gaskets are consumables, and considering it's got a carburetor, I'm guessing the seals aren't particularly new if you used the old ones.

>>
>>16950134
NO dressing on carb gaskets. They are meant to swell slightly when exposed to fuel.

Floats shouldn't stick but one way to test without putting da carbs on da engine is to use a dummy tank off the motorcycle. At the shop we leak check rebuilt carbs for a few hours.

Is your Viton tip on the float needle perfect with no ridges, or new? You can hold the carb in operating position without the float bowl then gently move the float through its range of motion to see why it might stick.

Old floats can sink as they lose bouyancy. You can compare with known good floats in a pan of petro. Outdoors, of course...
>>
>>16950144

I use heavy duty pantograph style truck jacks AKA "scissors" jacks pretty often to lift bikes. I usually put down the sidestand then jack under the opposite frame rail.

If you can ever score a J&S or Bulldog motorcycle jack they shit all over the Harbor Freight narrow units (which are still vastly better than nojack).

Spent it hanging and being gay with a friend.
Still no license, and zero gear, not even a helmet.
Although I did do a little jaunt in the parking lot, and fiddled with a the engine a bit. Scared the shit out of my friend when I revved it hard.

youre saying its impossible to go 114mph after a week or so of riding? What if you never saw that light before. Didnt have the owners manual because its an 05/06 636 so you obviously bought it used.

I actually have the same bike and this light freaked me out when I was opening it up on the highway a week or so after I started riding
I didnt know what it was either

Absolutely heartbroken over calc 3 exam. Thought I got a decent grade. Did very bad. Might not pass the class

Rode after class to clear my mind. Just easy cruising until I came across these two other riders who were on supersports on twisties. They were going fast so I decided to try to keep up. I was surprised I was able to keep up on a monster

>2) Controls that are easy for a gloved hand to >manipulate (alternatively minimal controls)
>3) Compact or pocketable sized.
>4) atleast .380 cartridge or better power/ME.

Hmm. Well for simplicity I would go for a striker-fired with no external safety. Carry hot and pull and bang. Also with those you typically get more space in the trigger guard compared to a lot of SA/DA hammer-fired. Look at pics and see wut I mean. The trigger themselves are usually set further back giving more room

As for caliber I would go for a 9x19 way before I would go for a .380...I frankly see no good reason for .380. anything .380 can do 9x19 can do better and cheaper.

As for size yeah compact would be about the smallest if you still want to be able to manipulate the weapon and have solid purchase. When you go sub-compact you inevitably get more muzzle flip, shorter sight radius, smaller everything (including guard) etc..

but I don't know telling a man what pistol to get is like telling a man what his favorite color is. I will always tend to fall for 9mm / fullsize&compact (duty sized) / striker fired / double stacked / polymer framed. Having said that I am currently looking for a single stack that won't print as much when carrying.

Also, I do cc while riding and I have had no problem pulling and shooting a fullsize XDm. Now reholstering? Uhh not really

You guys ever see/been involved in a serious accident?

My roommate broke his leg in 2 places and got some bad road rash on his body on a ride earlier this year.

Shortly after that I came across a rider than rode into barricade, ripped his abdomen, and was holding some of his intestines in his hands.

I've had a few close calls with cars almost killing me, starting to wonder whether it's all worth it.

I have a gopro 3+ but its not setup very well and the resolution makes it look as though you are going faster than you are, but I have it covering the speedo anyway.

Also I'd advise against helmet mounting a gopro unless you get it on the chinbar and I dont think you can do that with a qwest. Reason I am against gopro's on helmets is they are a big square block so if you have a high speed off you've potentially got that bouncing your head off the tarmac instead of sliding. Also wind noise from the lack of aerodynamics. I also think you look pretty fucking stupid with a big camera on your helmet but that's just me. Alternatively use a chest mount. Gopro battery life is shit as well.

There are cheaper alternatives I regret not getting pic related. Half the price of the gopro too.

These were the same ppl who would cry about having to wait for me to put on gear when they all wanted to ride in daisy dukes and shit. meh

But the worst is that the ppl who did the most dumb shit always wanted to do it in the city through intersections and other dumb places. Show-off/poser/squid shit...

One of the guys who died died because he just HAD to do a wheelie at over 100 in the city through an intersection. I wasn't there for it or i would have bitch slapped him hopefully beforehand to knock some sense into him. Another friend smashed his gsxr750 into a car because in the early morning he just had to get nuts in the city. flight for lifed him and he survived, but with brain damage. later died because the brain damage changed his whole personality and he started smoking crack and doing heroin. The upper/downer killed him

And i am no saint i used to do dumb shit too like repeatedly flying by a cop on my buddies R1 trying to find the power. it's there but up high so I was winding out first repeatedly (106 indicated derp) and would bang 2nd and still accelerate so yeah I was going 115/120 or so on a small city street with many intersections..was dumb as fuck.

I haven't got that loop bit of plastic and haven't seen it in the store but that's a good solution. The problem I have is at 720p and above the battery life is shit.
