For the truckin' part, I was running around in that pup truck today and it was the first time in a few months that I really ran around a 13'6" trailer. Drove it like my 11' trailer and let's just say lots of tree branches got trimmed.

They had some crawfish boil over the weekend and today I had to go pick up all of the shit they didn't use so they could get a refund. Of course it's in this park with real tight paths and parking lots and tons of low hanging trees. Had to back into this goofy little parking lot, park the trailer all sideways so the liftgate was just up on this curb, and while making these turns it was basically choosing between hitting tree limbs or parked cars and signs.

We got the yellow vests a long time ago and we were supposed to wear them over our blue button downs. Then people complained it was too hot, so they got us these "cooler" bright orange polos with a tiny Pepsi logo on the sleeve so nobody knows who I work for when I'm not at my regular stops.

Then they finally got rid of Aramark around a year ago. Wish they woulda told us so I could get my shirts all sewn up and repaired. Do you think trucking is a decent choice for a directionless 19 year old like me? I always thought I would go off to a university after high school like a good boy with my good grades, but I have no fucking clue what I want to study or do with myself. I don't want to sit around my hometown living with mommy and daddy and working at a grocery store either. Is the day-to-day of trucking too difficult for some kid like me who's always had easy comfortable living arrangements? Am I getting ripped off if I don't plan on staying in the business for a long time? For interstate trucking, you gotta be at least 21 years old and lots of companies want 23+ because of insurance. You can still get your Class A and hope for a local job.

Go get some blue collar certs at community college instead. Welding or HVAC or electrician or something with computers if you really aren't ready for a 4yr degree. Otherwise try and get into construction (union is boss, knew a kid who got into it with the people who work on road construction and was making $38/hr doing bullshit). Just be careful getting stuck in something that will break your back in 30 years.

The problem with intermodal in Florida is you pretty much can't. The reason Florida sucks for freight is CSX and FEC railways trailer all that shit out of the state on flatbeds, and FEC is probably the leading intermodal shortline in the country. They haul to Jacksonville where NS picks up, so for FL and intermodal you're pretty much fucked. All of the IM freight that does originate out of South Florida is brought down on FEC and most of that ends up on container ships bound for import countries.

Railroads are always a better bargain for megashippers who aren't dealing reefer freight. Even Prime is hopping on the intermodal bandwagon I've hauled a few of them.

I was delivering to this Jersey Mike's today, actually a pretty nice area. There was this red PT cruiser that has been sitting in the same spot forever. Driver window was down like 4" and I think I noticed this car for the first time about 6mos ago and manager at the store said it had been there as long as the store had been open which is 2yrs. The car had one of those orange tow stickers on it for the past two months maybe.

Anyway when I got to the stop, tow truck driver was there finally picking up this car. I asked if cops or property management sent him, and it was the property owner who told tow guy that they put the tow sticker on last month. Tow driver said he ran the VIN and car was stolen and has been sitting there for at least two years with the window down and nobody ever even did anything with this car. Fucked up.
