Didn't even notice it at first because the different OP pic. I see we're branching out like the /hg/ OP's have been.

Anyways, washed and waxed over the last two days. All that's left is interior detail. Gonna hoon the shit out of it this weekend on some bridges and along the coast, should be great weather.

As much as everyone seems to hate the prius, I got a hand-down c from my brother because I am poor and it's not bad. It is pretty responsive and quiet. Though this is my opinion, I don't like the other prius that they created because it looks like shit.

I have an AW11 MR2

I'm on Eibach Pro/Koni Yellows atm. Ideally I'd like to go coilovers but I don't think I can afford it just yet. I was thinking about Suspension Techniques springs for the AW11 but all the reviews say that it's way too harsh for a daily driver. The Eibach Pros are pretty nice but I wish they had a little more drop to them, the advertised a 1 inch drop but I think I only got like 3/4s of an inch from them.
>>
>>16877891
I had the exact setup on my Civic. Look up Ground Control adjustable springs and see if they make a set for your car. They feel better than the Pro springs, have a ton of adjustability, and the springs they use are Eibach brand too.

Here they are. Highly recommended. Pretty much gives you a coilover setup with the bonus of replaceable shocks if they ever go out.

No problem. Been loving mine so far. There are a lot of threads on each sleeve so the height possibilities are endless. I could drag my exhaust on the street if I wanted to but fuck that. kek

I'd love an AW11 as a second car. Maybe one day. I wanna fix this broken one I see in this guy's driveway.

>>

Probably hella air bubbles giving the incorrect reading. I have a similar problem in my sw20 since the radiator is up front and the filler is in the rear. Soooooo much piping for bubbles. Keeping the heater on while running the car helps with temp btw, just to be safe until you can get it sorted out somehow
>>

I think they're cool. I'd get it over the optima .
>>
>>16882658
Replacing old worn bushings with new prothane ones really change the dynamics of the car. I've had both stock, eibach, GC, ST and full coilovers on three AW11s over the past year and I really can't express how good of a budget option the Pro-kit really is. GC is slightly better if you're into constant race use without wanting to dump full price of a complete coilover solution, but in terms of a DD, Eibach and Koni yellows are really great. I also had Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustables shocks in at one time, but they weren't as nice as Konis.

A lot of people just want that credit card clearance slammed look so naturally they will gravitate to more expensive options but if you aren't into serious track-day shit, Eibach PK and Koni Yellows on a stiff setting is a very good choice- combine that with a new prothane bushing kit and you'll have an amazing road carver.
>>
I recently came out as gay so that means I need to start drifting my mk2 supra.

>>
>>16881016
That would give me dildo whiplash and spinal injuries if I crash. I say no to the dildo.
>>
>>16882304
Definitely would buy it over an optima. It's a hatchback corolla, the engine in it will run forever. Lots of space, even with the CVT it's still kind of fun to drive.

I wouldn't focus on the resale value if you're keeping it for 10 years, but because of toyota tax you can expect it'll depreciate at least at a normal rate, if not slower than average.

The difference between the Kia and a Toyota is the quality and reliability, Toyota wins on both, kia interiors go to shit after a few years even in their recent models.
>>
>>16882366
Just grab the latest model year camry or corolla that you can find. I'd say a tC as well but that's more first gen tC territory and they look more like girl cars and had oil burning issues with the first gen. Matrix is an option too for some more trunk space.
>>
>>16882763
Yeah for sure. I mainly got the GCs for the easy adjustments with an allen key. Needed it at a certain height for my delivery job. The two settings on the Koni shocks were either too high or too low and I had to take them out to change it. Now I don't even need to take the wheels off.

How old is the battery? From that it sounds like the alternator is charging it while you're hooning so the next start up isn't as strenous on it

>>16887239
Got it from a battery place as a refurbished battery. The only thing is, even with a jump, sometimes it will happily crank but not start. I still need to do the fuel pump test, but haven't eliminated plugs yet.

Unless it could still be battery related?

To the is300 owners, is yours manual? If so, how long did it take you to find the right one?

I've only found one manual one near me, but it has 165k miles, an aftermarket remote start that doesn't work, a bad catalytic converter, and some rust for 5k. There's a 2003 across the state for 6.5k, that has 140k miles and is virtually stock with no rust. Just had a new clutch, timing belt and water pump 5k miles ago.

However they're both silver, which is my least favorite color.

The wait is killing my desire so hard.
>>
>>16889642
I'd go with that 6.5k one. Rust over time will cost you much more down the road. If it's the right car for you then you wouldn't mind driving across states for it (or at least I would)

What's a good deal on an AW11 MR2 with a gen 4 3SGTE swap, supercharged body?

The guy is asking $7400, I offered $5500 as a starting point for negotiations. His reply was "that's too low" and "I have another offer", with no numbers given.

I don't have any negotiation skills so pls help
>>
>>16898845
The most that dude could have spent on that aw11 is 3k unless that dude has a bunch of after market modifications on it
Offer him 6k because 7k for a engine swapped aw11 is fucking ludicrous but if anything ask the dude what and what he's done to it and post more info
>>
>>16898888
So here's everything that I know from our emails and from the craigslist ad

>1988 AW11 supercharged body
>Gen 4 3SGTE from a JDM Toyota Caldina
>transmission from a 1997 SW20 Turbo, third gear (the actual gear) is from a celica. Has a KAAZ LSD (according to him this is worth $1500 alone)
>Berk technology exhaust system
>CT20B turbo
>new bushings all around
>some new kenwood stereo
>HKS boost controller and gauge
>battery relocation to frunk
>all lights work

Here's what I don't know
>do the gauges work and are they accurate
>does it have AC/heating
>do you have a doughnut for it (a full size spare won't fit)
>rust (car is in San Diego)

Something else he mentioned is that it doesn't have a latch for the engine lid because he had to cut it off or something or he used an NA AW11 latch in order for it to work. I asked if he would install one if he had it and didn't get a direct response to that.
>>
>>16899031
I'm retarded for not having taken a screenshot of the craigslist ad because I know there are a few things I'm missing

The odometer has 200K on the clock but I'm inclined to believe that the motor and transmission were rebuilt less than 8k ago

for an SW20 with a stock turbo and none of those bells and whistles, you'll be paying a similar price.
Now take into account the aftermarket goodies and the labor to rig all that SW20 shit into the lightest (I think) MR2 chassis. if you know the MR2 world and community, you'd know the CT20b, Berk, and gen 4 3s is pretty much some of the best and most solid options out there
6k is actually not bad at all and I'd be okay with paying 7.5k honestly.
I believe the gauges (speedo in particular) for a 4th gen are all electronic so they should be accurate if they work in the first place.

So I cut and polished my camry recently. It had one or two bigger scratches and some more minor scratches. From before/after pics I've seen, there's been people with a lot more damage and a lot more scratches that have been able to remove them doing the same thing I did, but I really didn't have any look with my paint defects. I was using a DA polisher at 6k rpm for cutting and 4k rpm for polishing with meguiars compounds/polish and pads.

Should I have applied more pressure? Stayed on the one spot longer? I'm afraid of messing up my good paint in the same area, but I put at least a few pounds of pressure and stayed on the same area for a few minutes without really any sort of results. What am I doing wrong?

go for an IS or GS. The ES is FWD and just an avalon. At least the IS is RWD and fun to drive.

Unless you just want a reliable car that's a slight step up from an avalon, then by all means go for the ES. But the IS/GS will be a lot more fun, and the GS actually depreciates as hard or harder than the IS.

Its finished. Shell has gone from hazy white to nice red, light mounts from galvanized steel to black

Gonna polish up the rest of the truck tomorrow (praise three day weekends) and have it look perfect. Then all I need will be a proper brush guard on the front, pipe bumper on the back, flares (unsure if they will be black or red), and some 33's on fitting wheels

Installed a new fuel pump yesterday again. Turns out my gas gauge has gotten worse and l ran out of gas. Pretty sure the new pump is dying now because I ran it dry. Time to do it again next week!

That is how my car came stock...
>100km full
>200km full
>300km 5/6 full
>400km 4/6 full
>500km 3/6 full
>550km 2/6 full
>600km 1/6 full
>650km car stops due to fuel starvation
I get better fuel consumption now due to improved driving skills.
>>
>>16906019
Before the fuel light would at least come on. I had like a 5th of a tank on the gauge was thinking I'd make it the 4-5 km to a cheaper gas station. Realized it was out of gas when I hit boost up a steep hill and it just sputtered. Barely got the gas station, one more block and it would have been empty.

My car just stopped accelerating suddenly, I was panicing a little since I was checking the valve clearance less than 5km ago and feared I did something wrong.
It is always good to carry pic related in these situations:

I usually keep one too, but it was empty. It's not the first time I've come that close to stopping. My last car had a very small tank and a broken gauge. It would show half when the tank was full and slowly go towards full as it emptied.

>The construction of the given engines is quite good, 2AR have no major problems and faults.
However, there are minor problems, such as water pump leaking. Also, VVTi system knocking may occur when the engine is cold. This is the peculiarity of the system, but if it annoys you, you can try to solve this problem through VVTi repair.
So, the 2AR engine is pretty good and reliable, you just need to maintain it regularly and use only high-quality engine oil and gasoline. Also, you should change the engine oil more often. In this case, 2AR-FE longevity may exceed 180,000 miles of mileage (300,000) km.

How low on the gauge do you fucking go?

All this is pending given whether or not I'm approved for the loan, a test drive and inspection.

>loan for a track car with modifications
Anon you're just shooting your self on the foot if you go through with this ask him a bunch of questions and if the faggot can't tell you or he can't "remember" I wouldn't buy it be ready to replace things and remember turbo cars need oil changes and coolent flushes more than regular.
>>
>>16906915
But it isn't a track car, it's running at or below stock boost, has oem stocks and struts. I men yeah it's had an engine swap and other things that make it seem more dedicated for the track but it isn't.

I've asked him possibly every question I can and he's responded to the majority of them.
>>
>>16907123
Well shit if you have a steady job and a decent amount of money you can waste then good luck to you anon.
P.s. Don't blip the throttle when taking a fast turn you could get rekt
>>
>>16907161
Thanks man

Yep, I've got a steady job right now and I'm making enough to pay the loan amount back in less than a year. I just don't have the money on hand right now because I've only been working for a few weeks and I lack serious credit. Student life I guess and I don't have much else to spend money on.

Don't worry, I won't. I've been reading into how to prevent that from happening or at least how to outside of a controlled environment

I was hoping someone knows a link to free .pdf or would be willing to upload an ebook.

I guess I'll have to buy it. I kinda don't want to since the advice to check for precat failure is to get in car, rev the engine and see if chunks fly out the exaust

And everything told in stages

do it because then if you dont like it you can sell it to a weeb for bigmoney

1000 GBP? Do it, you can only win... either you fall in love with the car, or you flip it later and cash in on the memetax.

I love mine though, I'm one of the gullible people who'd throw money at you. If it's in good condition it'd get you somewhere around 8k€.

>>16910033
Mine doesn't leak any liquids, it's literally meme-tier Corolla reliability. Only thing so far was a dirty/oxidized alternator plug that made the battery not charge properly.

What is the ideal tire size for the Toyobaru for street and occasional tracking?
>>
Feels like Toyo is making some of the worst designs in the industry.

>>16902125
>>
>>16911305
They go through their design phases, you can see a common trend every generation/decade or so. They'll move away from this one in a few years, then everyone will say how amazing this design trend was and the current one sucks. It's just how it goes.

Personally it makes me laugh because all I hear is "TOYOTA IS SO BORING THEY NEED TO CHANGE" then when they try new designs that aren't grandma camry it's "OH MY GOD WHAT IS TOYOTA DOING"
>>
>>16911305
Hatchbacks are too small so they bloated them up, but then the SUVs were too big so they sized them down

Then automakers decided to make all three but combine the small SUV and bloated hatch into one abomination

how to remove rust from my corolla 2006?
>>
>>16913678
Sand until rust is gone and repaint, or buy a new fender. You can probably paint the fender yourself and have it look decent. Better than rust at least. Or you could sand and prep the fender and pay somebody else to paint it.

Nope, the couple of times I've driven so far (it's not legal yet, still have to do some minor mods), it hasn't used any oil.
Then again, the stock 4AGE it has, has just about 80k miles on it.
