Blip de throttle
>>
>>16852635
>cant i just slow the fuck down, press the damn cluch and get down one gear?
yep, just won't be as smooth. Rev matching is just blipping the throttle so the engine is already turning and won't be as jerky when you let out the clutch.
>>
>>16852635
Heres a helpful; guide
1st geat 20kph = 2500 rpm
2nd gear 40pkh = 3000 rpm

What do you think will have if I go from 3000 rpm in 2nd to 1st? The rpm will spike, to about 4000 rpm, because of gearing and this will strain the engine and perhaps lock your back wheel.
>>
>>16852635
It is revving the engine up to the speed the wheel will be moving at once releasing the clutch after downshifting.

For an example, you are in 5th gear at lets say 3000RPM, At the same speed in 4th gear you would be at lets say 4000RPM so before releasing the clutch after down shifting you rev the engine up to 4000RPM.

simple right?
>>
>>16852667
Are you dumb? It completely depends on the specific engine and speed.

>>
>>16852780
Sure
>>
>>16852780
If you want to yeah, but then you don't get the joy of blipping down through gears while your bike shoots off cheeky backfires
>>
>>16852780
If you let the revs drop low enough you don't need to blip to make a smooth downshift anyways (the higher the engine speed the bigger the rpm gap between gears), there's no reason to wait until you're stopped to downshift unless you want to get rekt if you need to accelerate.
>>
Do you guys ever get your bikes serviced at shops?

I need to do my valves but took a peek at the fuel injector I'll have to take off and there's like literally 20 connections I'm afraid to screw up. 90% sure I can do it but there's that 10% that I'll break something, forget how they go together, or forgot to hook something up.
>>

I get tires and shit done. If it needs a major service, like a rebuild or other I'll bring the fz in but you'd be surprised how easy it is to work on stuff. What bike?

>"Clutch system needs to be flushed"
Find a new mechanic.
>>
>>16852953
It's a hydraulic clutch, he was talking about the lines.

He did a good job changing the tires, didn't damage the rims at all. I do all of the other mechanical stuff myself but I'm definitely going over the bolts he would have been tightening.

I think because the rubber makes the fluid dark quickly, he thought it was old? Idk..
>>
>>16852855
They're probably just looking at your service history and basing the services they recommend based on your mileage, not what's already been done by you.

Does that seem right?
>>
>>16852940
Thanks man, I'm stoked. Should be fun riding two pretty different bikes with the same engine
>>
>>16852949
I don't remember the details exactly, but it involved an extraordinary amount of disassembly to get to the front socket. You all but had to remove the engine from the frame, according to my little Clymer manual. It was my first bike and I was afraid of destroying it. 1984 VF500C.

>>

Right, but if you just flushed it and he's recommending a flush then he's either unknowledgeable or dishonest. Those are not good traits for mechanics.

They're definitely there, but it's not unrideable.
After hours of riding, my hands are tingly for a few minutes afterwards. And my Ram mount rotates when the rpm get up towards the redline, but that's it really.

Sport bikes really aren't expensive to maintain. The CBR600 maintenance schedule says it needs oil every 8k miles or so, and just check the valves every 24k i think. The only thing really expensive about them is insurance, and that can vary wildly depending on a bunch of factors. You will probably lose more money by selling the bike unless you do a major downgrade to something like a GS500.

What service is required soon? Learn to do it yourself. Tires are somewhat expensive but they won't be much less expensive (if any) on any other bike.

>>16853840
Hey the cruiser life is still p fun. I enjoyed it.
>>
>>16853861
Thanks for the comprehensive answer. I am able to do any servicing that a basic toolkit and a haynes manual can hold my hand through. Just had a major service feb 2016 that did all the valve clearences and shit I'm not comfortable doing. I was expecting a non sport bike would be a lot cheaper to maintain. My insurance isn't terrible, $80 a month for comprehensive. As far as tyres go, I've been trying to find that mid point between durability and handling. So far I'm just going to get bt 23's or pilot road 3's.

No, I was able to clear all my debt before starting uni. I have a budget, but I can only save $500 a month provided I have no unexpected expenses whatsoever. However, between the car, the bike, textbooks and having to save to do overseas placements next year I'm struggling to say $500 a month savings is enough.

Installed a tail tidy but it's a huge pain in the ass. Had to do all of pic related to access the bolts that held the old one on. Ended up taking about 4 hours because the ebay seller was retarded and sent me the wrong sized lights so I had to file the spaces for the larger so they would fit.

I found an area they just finished resurfacing and expanding into 4 lanes and maintained about 170km/h for a solid 2 hours. There was nobody for miles, it was fantastic. I just laid down on the tank and forgot about the world until I was low on fuel.

Gets a decent range on the tank, pretty good on fuel for a 600. I wouldn't change the sprockets around at all; they're pretty much perfect stock. Maybe if you do a lot of city riding, go like +2 in the rear but it's really unnecessary.

Paramedical science. The pharmacology I'm taking to quite naturally but the anatomy is more difficult for me.

For uni the bike essentially has to be my only form. I live roughly 45 minutes away and parking costs ontop of that makes using my car more expensive than my bike after budgeting it out as the bike parks for free. Not to mention I probably wouldn't find parking half the time if I took my car.

Gs500f exists.

>>16853962
I read that it was a 5 gallon tank. That's huge. How was the fueling? It doesn't need like power Commander or anything or is the fueling wonky? Also what year was yours?

>>16853965
Yeah that makes sense. I would have said consider getting a throwaway scooter but that's too far. Sounds like you're in between a rock and a hard place. I would make a list of your priorities, then order them from highest to lowest, then cut out like the bottom two or three if possible. I'd the bike is there, maybe it needs to go. If not, find what can be cut.

>>16853974
never noticed an issue with the fueling. It was an 05, what's yours? Must be an 04-05 because I think 2006+ has black frames.

I'm also moving to LA in a few months. Well, Irvine more specifically. Taking pic related with me. I hope it's street legal in CA with my exhaust and lights set up as they are.
