Just asked on last thread last post but I am going to repost here. Thank you.

Hello /dbt/

I was looking on CL and saw this:

https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/mcy/6047075239.html

Looks clean af and seems like a good price, but I know nothing about a bike like this. I have always owned italian bikes but something about the 2 stroke is just sexy. I can't find much about it online, what do you think?

Steering works exactly like a car. Steer the direction you want to go. The faster youre going the harder you have to steer.

Make sure youre always on the front brake while cornering to increase weight transfer to the front wheel for better traction.

>>
>>16848735
Higher octane fuel actually has lower energy density.

Your bike is not tuned for higher octane fuel so its anti knock adcantages are not realized. The bike simply is not going to advance timing enough on its own to take advantage of the resistance to detonation.
Your bike has to be tuned for it.

Fun fact E85 has rediculosuly good knock resistance but requires around 30% more fuel to make equivelent power as the same motor on regular petrol.

R3s are hard to find used, well actually there's one but the fucker is trying to sell it for 4300 usd when he's had it for 6 months while the Yamaha showroom right beside me is selling new (and new as in they have to wait for shipments to arrive because they've ran out of stock) for 4500 usd.
The Ninja 250 on the other hand - relatively common to find used, but if I went Ninja I want the 300, which is impossible to find used.

I've tried changing SD cards, and the problem persists even when charging the GoPro with no SD card installed, which tells me it's not the SD card. on the other hand is something that happens daily.
All the R3 reviews mention that it has a completely upright seating position though, for someone who is 5'10, I should be able to reach the handlebars comfortable right?

Also, if I got anything without fairings I would look like I drive one of these, and for scooters I mentioned I already have a tiny Honda Wave. We call these things 'trikes'/tricycles, the public transportation of choice once you're out of the highway. Google 'trike patrol', you're welcome.

I bought a Schuberth E1,

Haven't ridden with it yet, but tried it on for a bit longer at home. It does push on my forehead a bit and I don't think the integrated sunvisor is big enough...

Considering to return it and get a GT-AIR

Anyone had similar experiences with Schuberth helmets, or anyone that can try to convince me to keep it?

I could cut the foam a bit to remove the forehead issue.

Were you slowing down and braking while this happened?
>>
>>16850775
you shifted down while using rear brake i guess.

Suppose its a twin engine?

its called "stempeln" (stamping) in german.

First off dont just downshift and let go of the clutch. You need to keep the gas open and try to rev-match.

after that you slowly let go of the throttle and engine-brake.

alternatively pull the clutch, downshift and brake till standstill then go into neutral.

>>16850775
You did not downshift smoothly enough due to either poor rev matching or unsmooth clutch action and engine braking caused your rear wheel to spin slower than your front. Done poorly this "chatters".

A more controlled, smoother version of this where it smoothly under rotates and you use it to slide the bike on entry Is called "backing it in".
>>
>>16850843
Thanks kitty
>>
>>16850775

The engine braking locked up the rear. It's not that dangerous if you don't freak out and just let it wiggle itself out.
>>
>>16850810
Sounds like you locked up the back wheel from too much rear brake while not rev matching correctly. I'd suggest going in to a parking lot and practicing braking. They should've gone over this if you took an msf class.

>>16850840

Because it's cheaper to manufacture one shell size for multiple helmet sizes, giving you an oversized shell unless you fit the thinnest padding in that shell. Only high end helmets have a different shell for nearly every size (typically XS and multiple XLs just have to deal with it)

Plus like, non-meme helmets actually have side impact protection.

That's a weird deal. Odds are the bike will need to be gone through fully after sitting for 10 years. If it has carbs, they will need to be cleaned, battery is probably fucked if it hasn't been replaced, tires are dry rotted to shit and the fuel lines are probably not in the best shape. If it has had all those done, it might be worth 2500.

Pretty much every biker I see does this and I'm not sure why. I just leave it in first, clutch in. Left leg on the ground, right foot on the rear brake (or front brake and no rear if I'm not on an incline) Dunno why you'd shift to N unless you either have a heavy as fuck clutch or weak manlet fingers. Even at long lights I'm in 1st (with clutch 1mm away from friction zone for MAXIMUM acceleration whilst you slow fags are scrambling to shift into first)

That's more work then it's worth. If the light is going to change soon, I stay in first but if I'm going to be sitting there a while I'll shoot to neutral.

At the very least it puts less wear on the throwout bearing and springs.

Also your Cali is showing. It's the only state that allows lane splitting
>>
>>16851317
Because when you're in the city you use the clutch 90% of the time, so when you're at a light you stay in neutral.
>hurr weak fingers

I don't think you know what it really means to filter if you think you don't need to use the clutch to do it and can simply cruise on the left of cars as if they were on a rail.

i checked, no one uploaded scenes of the indian or the race itself on youtube, but i couldve missed it somewhere. Indian did live stream the race on their website but they didnt start when they said they would, so I had to get off and do something and come back later mid-way through the race and couldnt tell where was the wrecking crew in the race. Still, they won the top 2 winning positions in the daytona flat track so im happy for them, i just hope at the georgia short track next saturday they can be a bit more organized with livestreaming the race.

I just tell them up front. I like direct and open communication when doing business.

Hell, I've even done orders item by item, saying which ones i'm not going to buy because they are cheaper on such and such place online and got discount to match the online price.

If it's a problem for them, i expect them to have officially listed differentiated service fees for their and customer parts.

Black magic price math just indicates dishonest practices that might translate to their other actions as well.

Sounds good, you will at least want to buy a helmet and gloves as far as gear is concerned, that's like $250 at least so keep that in mind.
Is there any way you can save up like $3k? If so you could get an sv650 or a gs500, both of which are great bikes and will last you a long time and are good on highways
Otherwise I would get a Honda rebel or ninjette
>>
>>16851991
If that gs500 from craigslist is in good condition I'll probably get that one; $1600 is perfect if I spend $300-400 on gear.
>>
>>16851981
>>16851991
Helmet, gloves, and some kind of boot with ankle support. Everyone drops the bike a few times when starting out, and ankles easy to break.
>>
>>16852026
This, a jacket is very good to have as well
The order you spend your money should be
Helmet>gloves>boots>jacket>pants>specialized riding underwear>leather chaps

As a Dr250 owner (had it since I was like 15) they're a great bike to learn on and perfectly capable of commuting duties, but the 400 will be better overall. Not that much more weight, heavier duty components like suspension etc and it'll be more comfortable to ride on the highway.

The 250 is a great bike if you don't need to tackle highways often and you're just doing some trail riding. I fucking love mine. But in all honesty I'd recommend the 400.

Godspeed anon

Some insurance plans explicitly exclude Pillion Cover. Check your policy. Unless you have no years no-claims, adding it if it is excluded is unlikely to cost much more than the admin fee.

Eh, even coming from a wee little CG125 the VFR is fine to manhandle through London traffic. About the only annoyance is you can't U-turn in one go in a singe-lane street with cars either side, but that's true of almost anything not light enough for you to lift ourself.

So I spoke with the salesman (also a mechanic? said he did the work on it) who said the bike had been bought new and just left outside for nearly a decade. Told me they rebuilt the carbs, cleaned out the fluids and relined the tank. A bit of paint discoloration on one side, but otherwise looks brand new.
Going to see it tomorrow with a friend who is good with bikes and mechanical stuff.
