is there any chance that i could learn how to drive an 18 speed truck even though ive never even drove a manual car just automatics? im around trucks all day and even get to service them and change their air brake pads and the idea of how many gears they have and shat gear you want to be in for a certain speed and how to shift it without using the clutch and changing hi/lo and splitting sounds insanely hard but id feel awesome if i could know how to drive one

theres a truck driving school that is 3 weeks long that is like 20 miles from my house but considering i dont even know how to shift right or the proper way to would they probably use me as a joke and just laugh at me and yell at me for being an idiot? or would i have a chance and probably get a cdl in just three weeks?

the course I took was only two weeks long, but run by two guys that both had over 2.5 million miles of experience. the instructor is what's important. I knew how to get by in a manual car but never owned one and the truck trans came pretty quick to me. Now the trucks I drive at work most days are autos so I go out of my way to drive a 10spd manual from time to time.

That's such a pain in the ass to go through with, I would rather just bobtail it. Last Monday I took the babby KW tractor. Single axle and the 5spd auto. It was raining that morning and I may have drifted the thing around a handful of turns and the on ramp to I-95. Now that was fun.

It's a little unpredictable tho because 1st gear is still so low that it won't really spin the tires. They break loose going into 2nd and 3rd. Not the same as doing it in a car.

Probably been asked a thousand times but I don't get on /o/ hardly ever. Why do Americans hate cabovers? I think they look way nicer and from my experience driving smaller trucks, cabovers are easier to maneuver because corners are easier to see and you don't have to account for engine blocks. I've seen some older ones around but none still on the road in the US.

In the future, leave an hour or so on your drive clock when you park, I usually do no more than 9hr maybe 10 max. I've been on recaps since I got in this truck and I have like 20hr on my 70 right now, mostly because of this load having a shit ton of time on it, but also because of how I run.

I never go below 5hr on my 70 though, if I for some reason don't have the time I don't accept the load. For me to have to do that shit they had better be shitting me Tiffany cupcakes for me to flip my clock and run like that.
