Of course this is from a video game, much less a science fiction one, but I may as well ask about the 'feasibility' here. In F-Zero, in addition to them being anti-gravity races of vehicles that travel upwards of 1000KM/H, all of the vehicles differ greatly in terms of size, shape, and weight. The lightest vehicle is the Twin Noritta, which weighs 740Kg, and the heaviest is the Fat Shark, which weighs 2490Kg. I can't quite explain how one is better than the other, but put simply, the heavier car accelerates slower, turns slowly, has worse grip and traction, but can take a significant beating and has a higher top speed, while the lighter car accelerates quickly, turns quickly, has average grip/traction, but is fragile and slow.

Anyway, the real question comes in regards to weight and sizes. Suppose there was a race where cars of various sizes and shapes can compete with eachother. Going by those weight numbers, let's compare the Suzuki Cappuccino (725Kg) to the Rolls-Royce Ghost (2490Kg). I'm fairly certain that the RR could smoke the Suzuki for a variety of reasons, chief among them being a much stronger engine, but both would be destroyed by a supercar that falls between their weights. So would it be possible to host a race where a majority of the cars are on a level playing field, or no?

You do that because you brake too early and you go too late on the throttle. Try braking once you reach the outside kerb up to around 1/3 throuth the corner and go on the throttle immediately. You should be fine if you go like that.

Assetto corsa could've saved us if it werent for the stupid car slot thing.

1 class with all the GT3 cars,

It would be possible if all the machines had similar power/weight ratios, which F-Zero doesn't expressly state but the balance of the game makes it appear as if there is some vague formula that keeps all the cars roughly equal in performance.

That can work in a realistic game, this is why the Forza PR system and GT's PP algorithm exist. They aren't perfect though.
