Anyone have experience with fairing kits from this eBay seller? Their username is MotoChoice, seems to be the cheapest place for a kit.

I know most aftermarket kits require some fudging, just wanna know if any anons have experience with this place in particular.

Probably pretty good. I have really wide feet and the boots took a few weeks of breaking in. As long as you're not classed as a proper 'narrow' size, you should be fine. I'd try going half a size smaller than other boots though, as they're longer and have more space in the heel than my RST or Sidi boots.

Yeah, I guess it could be worse. How's the F4 on longer journeys? Wrist-heavy?
>>
>>16782726
Longest I've ridden on it at a time was 5 hours. Main points of strain were cramped legs and a sore lower back. I put as little weight on the bars as possible so my wrists are fine, and the cramped legs were more because I raised the rearsets a bit too far and not really the bike itself.

What a smart bloke! He should also put a system like this in the front for maximum stability.

I just wish we could make like, a motorcycle with four wheels and a roof so that you don't get wet. And also multiple seats.

But this is just an utopic dream, where where all people drive motorcycles on four wheels. That would be utter madness, wouldn't it, my fellow chaps?

>Actually how does a supermoto compare for relative speed at different parts of a car track anyways
most small bikes and big single dirt bikes seem to top out around 180km/h. You will be fine mate. Just let them pass on the straights, maintain your line in the corners.
Their bikes will probably be much more expensive than yours. If they cause a crash they might lose their licence, be sued civilly or charged criminally.
Should be fine mate.
>>
>>16783056

its fun and not as scary as you think. if you think people are riding too fast for your pace then just get off for a bit.
>>
>>16783056
Maintain your lines through the corners, dont swerve in front of them on the straights, and youll be fine. Theyll avoid you unless you do something stupid

I had to drive a car for the first time in 2 years to pick someone at the hospital and it was awful. There's so much sensorial stimulation while riding that I almost fell asleep 5 minutes in while driving. It made me realize how (even more) fun riding everywhere actually is.

It can be a bit more convenient when it's raining or cold (don't have to take a million layers and waterproof gear with you) but that's about it for me.

I think you're definition of comfort might be different. My truck is a couch, with suspension that makes you not feel anything and it has the added bonus of a greater, a windshield and doors that allow me to wear whatever I want when I drive it.

My Acura also has like 4 different kind of heaters.

The problem is just that these days it's rare for sponsors to completely own the image of the team like they used to so you get halfassed corporate compromise designs on everything. That's partly because the ratio of sponsor dollars to required budget are lower and partly because manufacturers and team owners now require more payoff to justify their involvement.

I have these Chinese fairings on my GSXR and they aren't bad at all. They actually look great and the fitment is perfect. The only thing that is a pain in the ass is that you have to transfer the rubber grommets from the original fairings to the white fairings and it's kinda difficult to press them into the holes

Guys, am I getting scammed? Dude has a bike for sale I inspect it, I wanna buy it. Its in great shape, ask if he has the title.
He doesn't have the title because he has a loan out on the bike, title is with the bank because he wants an open line of credit to build credit.
He asks the bank, says it could take 2 weeks to get the title from them, offers to produce a "legal bill of sale".
Tell him its not a problem for me to wait the 2 weeks.

Maybe he's being honest and this is just new to me. But I'm getting this sneaking suspicion that he wants to sell the bike, give me a bill of sale, then tell me to chase down the title from the bank/dmv for months. If not report it stolen and get the bike back from me.

Is this normal for buying used from individuals?
>>
>>16785059
Homie got a loan on the bike, which means he doesn't own the bike. The bank owns the bike.

Maybe you could ask the bank to buy the bike
>>
>>16784854
>my bike has enough stopping power to lever the rear wheel off the ground with one maybe two fingers max on the front brake

and i can absolutely guarantee that you aren't lifting the rear wheel off the ground 100% of the time when braking, so the rear brake will still help for stability and stopping distance
>>
>>16785059
I wouldn't buy a used bike without the seller signing over the title and handing over the bike at the time of sale.
>>
>>16785059
Buying/selling used bikes that are still financed is a clusterfuck.

The guy selling never has the title in hand and you essentially have to pay off the loan to get the title released. It's not a one day cash transaction by any means.

If you do go through take photos of his license, him, the bike, check the vin #'s, etc.

Or just don't buy a bike that's already financed.
>>
>>16785070
That was another alternative he proposed; is basically buying it from the bank. I've never bought a car/bike from an individual before, and I simply didn't know this was a possibility (he and I discussed this).

How does that work? I sign some shit saying I'm buying the bike and the bank records the transaction and turns the title over to me?
>>
>>16785072
not hum, but he doesnt have to be lifting the rear wheel off the ground for the rear brake to not matter. The fact that he can lift the rear wheel means he has more than enough stopping power with the front wheel to make using the rear brake superfluous.
>>
>>16785082
Honestly, I don't know. I wouldn't buy a bike with a lien. It sounds like more of a pain in the ass than it is worth

The dude has money based on where he lives and his job, not to mention the other toys he showed me while looking at the bike. It makes some sense that he has a simple credit building loan (less than $5k) just to build credit.

I wanted the physical title at time of sale just for security for myself. He gets a cashier's check (which he had hesitations about) and I get the bike.
>>
>>16785082
>>16785059
Generally when someone finances a vehicle, the individual will still get a title but it will have a lien printed on it, meaning the bank really owns the bike. If he doesn't have a title at all, that sounds sketchy.
I think buying a financed bike from a bank usually means you and the seller go to the bank, provide the funds to the bank to pay off the loan, and the bank providing the dox for you to get the new title.

uh, yes he does, because unless the rear wheel is off the ground, the using both brakes will be more effective than just the front.

Even if you do manage to lift the rear off the ground (which you probably can't, because you're not marquez on slicks on a zillion dollar GP bike), the rear brake can still help in the fractions of a second before the rear actually lifts to help keep the bike straight and stable

I disagree, yes it is rideable but relying on the front brake is dangerous when you need to slow down in a corner, and overall stopping distance is reduced as well.

Also since I had to make it back to San Diego from LA, I really didn't want to be without a rear brake due to the length of the trip.

Also picked up some Craigslist boots today, how did I do for 50 bucks?

I don't think you understand. Lifting the rear end up will happen under maximum braking. When you're not braking near the maximum, that won't happen. That means the rear brake is only relevant when you don't need to brake hard, in which case the "fractions of a second" aren't relevant, because you can just use more front brake.

No. An adventure bike should have cruise control and enough weight and power to carry you and your gear on the mountainous hiways and flat hiways and the dirt roads and the trails.

I fucking laughed when one day several people tried to claim touring on a sports bike was easy. The they talked about 400 mile rides.
BTW, 400 miles on a sports bike is not pain free, even for the mendacious.

It's an old 2smoke scrambler, before dual sports were a thing, these were for that niche. Looks like it should do at least 60. As far as buying it? If you fancy yourself a mechanic and are willing to spend the time and money to fix it go ahead. If not, don't bother.

>Project dirt bike in great shape for the year has compression not locked up have title in hand clean

Unless you have an affinity for wrenching, I'd steer clear. It could be that it just needs a battery and the carb cleaned. He may claim it's got compression, but unless he's tested it with a gauge he wouldn't know. Turning an engine over to check compression will tell you fuck all as to whether it's out of spec or not. letting the rear freewheel under heavy braking will benefit stability since if it breaks loose you lose a lot of directional stability.
yes it will help you slow down faster but only if you dont slip it and get the ass end out from under you
granted most of my time is spent on dirt and i prefer to back the ass end into corners when i can
>>
>>16785546
turns out that this is difficult

also, even being jacked can cause some discomfort in sporty riding positions. lower back pumps are no fun, and a closed knee angle can create a lot of pressure on the patellar/quadriceps tendons if your calves and hamstrings are big enough

>>16785559
>this nigga literally thinks he is stoppie-ing into every corner and in panic braking situations

>letting the rear freewheel under heavy braking will benefit stability
this is wrong; rear brake will increase stability by adding more stopping power at the rear which will cause the rear of the bike to squat, lengthening wheelbase and increasing trail, and distributing load more evenly between the wheels

>since if it breaks loose you lose a lot of directional stability.
that's like saying you should'nt brake with the front, since if it breaks loose, you'll crash

>>
>>16785597
>Any stopping power applied to either wheel causes the front to squat and the rear to decompress
haha but that's wrong, you fucking idiot

learn how squat works. slowing down the rear wheel will stretch out the swingarm, because the rear wheel will be slowing down faster than the rest of the bike, and will move as far from the pivot as possible, which is straight out - meaning the suspension will compress

http://www.promecha.com.au/myths_misconceptions.htm
>Now if you look at the swingarm, it slopes down to the rear axle. So when the tyre is pushing the axle forward, it tries to move forward underneath the swingarm pivot, which lifts the back of the bike. This is easy to check; squeeze the front brake and start feeding out the clutch as though to do a burn-out and the back will rise. This is called "anti-squat" geometry. If you use the rear brake, it will pull down because the force is being applied to the brake caliper rather than the ground.

Nice. I'm still in the Navy, will be in WA until around November then have to make a quick stop or two before heading overseas. Looks like I'll be giving my dad my car and bikes to look after. He's a Porsche fan, so he's pretty unhappy..and he rides bikes.

Just got a COBB AccessPort for the car and this crazy light turbo-back exhaust for the car (before I was leaving the states). Putting the exhaust on Sunday then getting the car tuned. The new one weighs almost 40 lbs less than stock and given the position, is right at the ass end of the car. No more cats either.

Haven't been riding as much, technically not supposed to at all since I'm delinquent on taking the advanced rider course, that and the weather here.

peaky means having one or more sharp increases in the torque curve creating a sudden burst of power at a certain RPM. I4s don't do that. They build up power smoothly and consistently up to the top then have a slight taper off.
>>16786251
I would consider that more peaky
