You're creating regulation where there doesn't need to be any. That's the moral here. The government's job isn't too keep me alive, the job of government is to protect my rights and property while providing the basic infrastructure of a society

So to count to laws like this are giving up freedom of choice, for security that the government knows how to rule you, but serve you. That's fine if you want to be servile

>>
>>16768833
Once again, it's not the government's job to tell me how to live my life. So long as I'm not actively doing harm to others, it's your own responsibility not to get yourself in crippling debt or kill yourself.

To say I need a 125cc law so I don't hurt myself on the big scary motorcycle is giving up your own personal responsibility. Ignore the retards on a busa, if you don't want to do that, you can choose to get a ninja 250.

The only person you should be able to control what bike they legally can choose is you. I don't want to tell you what you need to buy and I don't want you to tell me what to buy, it's not your place

>b-but australians are the shitposters
>>
>>16768850
They don't. They just tell you how to behave on their property.

If I have some land I can drive and ride every contraption I want on it.
Some 13 y/o wants to ride a turbobusa on that land? No problem, it's legal as it is your land and your rules. There are very few laws actually saying what you can't do on your property and most are about not bothering your neighbours.

Now back to bikes.
>>
>>16768865
>>16768872
If you have a license and insurance, you're legally operating on government land. That's the bare minimum required to operate. They don't need to limit a riders skill by displacement or power. That's the government over regulating.
>>
>>16768889
You know how expensive crashes are?
You know who pays those costs?
>>
>>16768889
>that's the bare minimum
On what basis?
You are too stupid 2logic.

Your stupid insurances don't even cover the cost of incidents.

Fuck off.
>>
>>16768894
The individual. The bill lies in him if he's following the law and has insurance.

If he doesn't have insurance, that dude is getting locked up and will basically be paying off what is owed until he has completed restitution.
>>
>>16768903
It covers damage to the other party, but you have to pay extra insurance if you want yourself protected. Going back to my point, it is not the government's job to keep me safe in a sensitivity bubble, if I want to do things, it's my responsibility not to crash, and it's my responsibility that if I crash I have that insurance that covers me if I elect to do so.

If I don't have insurance, I'd be braking the law, I'd get some jail time probably and I'd be paying off what I owe until I'm 40
>>
>>16768904
An accident can cause thousands in economic damages, just from the traffic jam caused by it.
The roads get damaged, not covered by your insurance, nor do you directly pay for that damage.

Having safe roads, with little incidents is just economically a big deal.
>>
>>16768919
>It covers damage to the other party
No, it doesn't. Not the bare minimum insurance if the crash is serious. And if the guy is poor the other part will never get anything.
>>
>>16768923
I understand you're argument, which is that a new rider is less likely to cause a horrific crash on a 125 then a niggabusa, but that's not what I'm arguing. I agree with that statement. I disagree that it's the government's job to keep me safe.
>>
>>16768929
The government isn't trying to keep you safe, but keeping the roads clear.
>>
>>16768926
Depends. It's 25k property, 50k individual coverage here in Colorado minimum, and you can buy as much insurance as possible.

If you get in a crash though and your at fault, you will be having a slice of your pay check go to the other party for the rest of your life.
>>
>>16768934
>you will be having a slice of your pay check go to the other party for the rest of your life.
Now that's just stupid, why would you get insurance if you have to pay anyway.
>>
>>16768929
You probably won't crash or if you crash won't cause damage on a 125cc if you're 16.
You will certainly crash on a hayabusa and most certainly do serious damage and possibly kill people if you're 16.

You are stupid.
>>16768934
>you will be having a slice of your pay check go to the other party for the rest of your life.
I'm sure the other part will be happy to receive $300 each month for a $30k damage.

Shut the fuck up.
>>
>>16768942
How does a Hayabusa cause any more damage than a 125?
>>
>>16768942
>You are stupid
>Shut the fuck up

>mfw when in my third world hell hole there is only two licences.
>Learner and full

Learner bikes starts at 16, you are restricted to a 125cc. After 18 it is unrestricted.
125cc bikes may not ride on the highway and Learner may no carry passengers.

First bike was a Kawasaki Z200 but it was only for training on a big plot*think small farm)
First road legal bike was at 17 an XT-350, I didn`t even have a licencees till I was nearly 18.
I'm 23 now and still on a learners.

As much as my ass is pained by Kit Kit, he is right.

A basic licence and insurance should be enough for any bike.
Turbobusa for 16 should be fine as any parents that let that happen are responsible for the kid.

After the adult age(see local laws) you are responsible for your self.

Bikes usually have only one fatality any way, why should the freedom, to perish by your own hand, be restricted?

By your logic motorcycles should be banned then. In fact, personal vehicles should be banned for the good of the people. Rail and horse transport were sufficient for Europe, and horses are more dangerous per mile than motorcycles so ban them. Velocipedes should suit your autism.

The US can afford to be as we are. MC losses are trivial here. Your problem is YOUR problem. I don't pretend MY problems are Europroblems. Stay in Europe where it's perfect but don't presume everywhere is the same situation you deal with.

If a single MVA blocks your country, don't brag about how you do business. Your road net is the problem. Here our States are often larger than EU countries. Even massive natural disasters don't block major arteries for very long.

Daily reminder that REAL MOTORCYCLINGâ„¢ is exclusively low speed control.

Anyone that goes faster than 75mph on a motorcycle is not a real motorcyclist and should. No one should ride any motorcycles with more than 50hp and everyone should wear a textile oversuit, knee pads, neck condom, leg condoms, elbow pads, elbow condoms, helmet and head condom, full elbow length gloves with integrated glove condom, boots, boot condoms, chest protector, chest condom, etc. or you're not a REAL MOTORCYCLISTâ„¢ and in a crash your shitty leather and CE padding will explode compared to my impenetrable textile armor that I wear to political rallies and beat people up in.

>>16769169
>By your logic motorcycles should be banned then
No, having idiots with no proper experience and training on the road should be banned. Doesn't matter on a bike, in a car, truck. Every one, should have proper training.

In the US traffic jams cause massive economic damages too. You just don't see it. A truck standing still is a truck costing lots and lots of money.

I don't say a accident causes to block it, but it can happen. Happened a few months ago, one truck crashed at a mayor intersection, blocking four highways that meet up there. Took about 2 hours to clear the crash, about 5 hours to get everything going again. We were delayed about 3 hours, holding up the entire project. Our company alone had €330 in damages from just people unable to work. Those costs aren't covered by insurance and they go into the millions.
>>
>>16768952
This. Why does everyone assume that the 16 year old will be doing retarded things at retarded speeds? It could even be argued that as a new rider unfamiliar to a bikes characteristics that a new rider would feel more confident speeding and trying wheelies and shit on a lower powered bike due to added confidence that it cannot reach the same speeds and it is not as heavy.

This all boils down to Europeans intense jealousy that they will never even be able to ride the bike that they want to ride unless doing 13 years of riders licensing and courses and swallowing the queens royal load.

Here in America just because someone doesn't start out on a 50cc weedwacker doesn't mean they don't value safety. Maybe they just really like they type of bike they ride. No one should start out on a liter bike. That doesn't mean no one should ever be able to ride a liter bike without jumping through immense hoops. Being cucked is so immeshed into the common European mans DNA that they cannot understand how people get by making their own choices

I guess that's fair ish but I stand by my ignorance.

When I took my msf licensing course they didn't even teach us about engine sizes. Hell the only time I ever dropped a bike was in that course and I passed with flying colors (red white and blue not that gay rainbow shit)

It's how it needs to be. Motorcycling is common but not as common as other places in the world. When I got my license I had zero previous riding experience. Always liked motorcycles but there is no drivers ed for motorcycles. I knew one person with a bike and it was an 1800cc 800 lb cruiser. I would put a new rider on any sport bike over that to learn the crucial slow speed skills you need. You buy the bike you like and learn the characteristics of it. You shouldn't have to wait until you're 24 years old to learn a bike you like

if you had health care, you'd see how much it costs to repair people who got damaged in crashes, so you'd try to avoid it as much as you can, which also has the nice side effect of saving lives.
It's not "servile" at all, it's more mature. A thing that americans will never understand.

Except that doesn't matter because we don't have socialized healthcare (for most people), but we definitely have reasonably affordable healthcare, so when Chad McSquid breaks his neck on his R1 it doesn't cost me anything, and he deserves his medical expenses for being a retard and spending his money on an R1 instead of healthcare.

I'm not a retard, so I do have healthcare and haven't broken my neck on an R1, AND I don't have to pay for Chad like you cucks.
>>
>>16770223
This, women do not deserve the respect men get.
the only thing women seem to be good it is complaining about getting less than men do while doing half the amount of work.
>>
>>16769981
All I have ever heard against socialized healthcare comes from people who have never experienced it and all that reasoning can get the same answer of "just look at how well it's doing".
Anyway, for things like drinking or living by yourself, being 18 is enough. But maturity doesn't come all at one once you become 18, maybe for driving it has been showed that, on average, it's best if people under 21 don't drive litrebikes, otherwise you get dead youngsters.
Also, here our judicial system is less severe and cops are more laid back, so sometimes laws are slightly broken with less concern, thus becoming more like "strong suggestions" that can be enforced if you really are inconsiderate about them. For example: I drive a detuned bike because my license doesnt allow me to drive a full power one. My bike, however, is not really detuned, it's just on paper. Have I ever gotten any problem? Not at all. Will I ever? I don't think so. That's because it causes no harm in my case, so no cop even bothers stopping me.

That's why you have medical and auto insurance you dingus. You can have the minimum, but the whole point of insurance is so that if those things happen you don't have to foot the bill.

It also means that it's not the government's job to make up for your poor planning.

I like to live life knowing that my actions have repercussions, and that I've got a level of responsibility to maintain certain things to exist in society.

"Reducing the frequency and severity of transport accidents not only saves lives and avoids serious injuries, it also reduces claims. This provides savings to the Victorian community and ensures the long-term financial viability of the transport accident scheme.

The economic and social costs associated with road accidents have made the issue of road safety a major concern for the community.

The TAC pays an average of $150,000 each road death and an average of $1,500,000 for each serious injury (eg. traumatic brain and spinal injuries). In the 2011/12 financial year, the TAC paid out $1.01 billion in benefits and compensation to 44,410 people, which represents a direct cost to the Victorian community funded by premiums paid by vehicle owners.

By preventing accidents, lives will be saved, injuries will be reduced and savings to the Victorian community will be made."

TLDNR: is basically if the community is the one copping the bill less deaths on the road is only going to be a larger priority

I don't know what country specifically you're in but the cultural differences between the US and most of Yurop are why the same things that work there don't work here. Germany is beginning to have the same problems that the US has since they've got a huge influx of immigrants (see: people who are happy to live off the system without contributing to it and see themselves as above the law or just have no regard for it).

The US is also one of the only safe havens for people who don't want to live under a nanny state. I, for the most part, am not punished for what others of my [age group, gender, ethnicity, religious background] do and am free to make choices, and mistakes, as I will.

The guys with track bikes show up with either vans or cars with trailers.

I'm plebtier, so I ride there. My buddies all have street bikes, so they ride there too.

I fit whatever I can on the backpack and ride like that. I usually bring:

>water (2 to 4 liters, depends on season)
>fuel (5 liters is usually more than enough for 1h30 riding on a 600cc i4)
>food (granola bars, chocolate, cheetos, energy gels, coke or whatever your carb of choice is)
>basic tools (pliers, scissors, 4/5/6mm allen stuff, 8/10/12mm sockets plus phillip screwdriver)
>zipties and duct tape

Exceptionally this one time I'm taking an extra pair of knee sliders, but that's that. You could pretty much show up with nothing, provided you could withstand the dehydration and your track organizer didn't require taping mirrors/lights

My understanding is that the Harley-engined Buells just suck out loud, but I welcome correction on this point.

I feel like the only possibilities here are getting blown past by fast bikes going 40mph faster, being stuck behind liter queens going 20mph slower in the corners then becoming a spec on the straights, or more likely both.

Having owned a P3, M2, XB9R, XB12STT, and a 1125R, the belt drive is great for being able to neglect a bit. The Harley cased twins have a visceral feel that is hard to describe. The 1125R doesn't have the same sound and the power delivery is smoother which can make it feel like there's less of it. An XB12S or 1125R are probably the best vtwin bikes for real world use: commuting, shenanigans and the occasional track weekend.

Having had a an early '00's Mille factory, I can say the fit and finish was godly by comparison and the tone didn't sound as appliancy as the 1125.

fuel in the frame and oil in the swingarm
the low exhausts are 10/10 tho imo
>>
>>16771439
Honesty AND XB9S/R would be a little better I think. The twins are very torquey and can get you in trouble quick. The 9 is still a great all around machine and what I would want if I had another.
>>
>>16771506
The engine is as close to bulletproof as you can get. The one thing is stop and go can get them a little hot, but the xbs have a fan for the rear cylinder and you can get a higher flow one if you need.

All your friends will be jealous you don't adjust your valves or chain.

they look funny because the frame is built to hold fuel and the swingarm is built to hold oil. however, I really like the look of the short exhausts that end around the location of the right footpeg as opposed to running up past the swingarm or under the tail, see for instance.

In 1998 they changed the aesthetics making it very similar to the rsw250 gp bike, so it is much more aerodynamic. The air filter is better placed, the tank is bigger while being more ergonomic, the dash has more cool things, it generally looks better.
Also, since '98, the rear and front shocks are adjustable, the front suspension is by Marzocchi and the front tyre is 120/60 instead of 110/70.
It's quite a blast to ride. And you won't regret it, if you can do with no compromises.

I have an FZ-6, if my bf gets a old carburetted standard/cruiser like a Maxim 650 will he be able to keep up?
Also, are motorcycle-specific boots really a plus? I use hiking boots that are tough, comfy, and fit well and tight.

Got my 1986 VF500F I bought for $300 finally running today after having to craft my own throttle cable, clean out the carbs, new fuel filter, and new battery. Fired up pretty easily with a 1/2 tank of 4 year old fuel and 1/2 new stuff I poured in.

Smoked like crazy due to the penetrating oil I sprayed in to unfuck the cylinders but sounded pretty good and ran fine. Took it for a quick ride on the streets, felt good besides the nearly flat front tire.

Just need some new tires and to fix the turn signals and I'll have a functioning V4, 500cc interceptor for ~$400 total.

Paint looks like shit though, I'm thinking of an all white paint job with a red stripe going off-center down the length of the bike; thoughts?
