what's a good size bike to do track days on? Are 250s too small? I'm not a new rider, ridden lots of different bikes on the road, but never on a track. Care more about having fun than breaking the sound barrier on the straight
>>

2t and the old 90s i4 250s are okay for tracks if they are available in your area. But larger would generally be a better idea

>Yes, financing one was dumb as fuck, and no it's not because I can't afford it anymore
So my question is, what should be a price I can reasonably shoot for with them? I wanna say $2.5k is what I'm ideally hoping for, but obviously that's probably not gunna happen. So what number would I be closer to looking at?

>are 250s too small

no, getting on track in the first place is more important than having the perfect bike for it.

>Care more about having fun than breaking the sound barrier on the straight

power is fun on a track because you can actually use it and if you have more power that's more shit to struggle to get down on corner exit and a more extreme braking zone on the next corner so that's like 1/2 of the experience improved, not just on straights.

Also while it might be fun to pass faster bikes on the corners, it ain't fun when they blast past you on the straights and they ride all over the track like the crazy yuppies they are and you need to find a way around them that doesn't involve you dying because they're nutjobs, if you have the same power as these guys they're much easier to handle because you'll be faster everywhere, not just corners.

Listen to a smarter more experienced guy than me talk about the differences between smaller and bigger bikes in track riding though, don't bother listening to me.

>>
>>16721030
It was a little tricky; Mostly it was a long time from first application to now. I first applied in November last year; went to the interview in late November; did the inductions last week and my tests and skill courses this week.
The holiday period would be part to blame.

That said; some locations do have shortages so new staff are always needed. That's how I got the job; 5 people quit at once and the guy called me back and said; you're hired- i need posties.

Just look like you know the area a little; be keen to deliver stuff, like motorbikes (and know how to ride them too) And just be ok to follow the ridiculous amounts of corporate control and ethics.

If the Manager likes you; he'll usually put you through the motions as there are lots of places the corporate team can say 'nah, you're not going to work out'
but if they see you'll follow the rules and ride well; you'll likely get a job if there's one open.

Was that from yellow group on that hot as fuck Sunday in January?

I did two sessions that day in yellow and it was a circus. There were guys there running low 1:40s all the way through to a guy on an aprilia 250 that one of the flaggies clocked at a 2:35 hot lap.

Had a guy on a brand new R1 stuff it up the inside of me into turn one and then smash the brakes at the apex. Fucking scary crowd, green group was booked solid so I just went down to white group instead and, weirdly, the pace was better.
>>
>>16720919

You would be better off selling it to a new rider and taking that cash to pay off the bike. Dealerships DO NOT give you a good price for trade ins and buy backs. They are going to offer a price that will allow them to sell it to someone else for a profit quickly.

There was some ducati day going on so there were heaps of fuckos on ducatis in my group who thought they were better than they were, we were sharing a pitbox with them and they were bragging about how many people they overtook when they came back to the box (It sounds like i'm making this up but I'm not) , there was a guy on a black 848 who requested to be moved up to green group and I'd overtaken him at least 5 times that day (he was the fastest yuppie though).

No trying to be hardcore here (hurr I overtook them so much!!) but they all should have been in white group.

Nah, yellow group is the designated retard group these days. White is best left for new comers so they aren't dealing with inconsistent lines+corner rushing all at once.

If you're running consistent times and have an idea of your lines just move up to green and improve your times. There's plenty of separation between the packs.

With stay upright running it now there's less consistency among groups. I can run a better pace in white than yellow. Yellow is all about corner charging and hard braking right at entry, so it makes passing them impossible (hence your video). People going in on a decent line into T2 and running so wide that you practically have to pass them on the grass. Whereas if you are in white group they are running stupid wide before entry into T2 and you can nick up the inside without interfering with them at all.

yeah, 80% of my overtakes were around the outside in yellow, particularly around turn 7, for some reason people just don't go fast there.

The only reason I'm a little hesitant about green is I know the average lap time is a bit faster than what I can do on the SV right now and I feel like I'd hold them up in straight lines, if I was on a 600 I know I could hit that, but I suppose that doesn't matter too much because they won't have too much trouble passing me in a straight line anywho.

I wanna get up to green though because yellow is just tards, I thought it might be an odd one out session I had because the previous yellow was fine but from your story it sounds like it's getting worse.

SU is a mixed bag, it's cool to have sweet instructors around but not if a weekend trackday is gonna cost $335 now, come on fellas, $285 was already steep.

Just to clarify, you push it in neutral and it rolls along with no resistance/some resistance/a lot of resistance and makes a knocking sound?

Kick start could be a separate issue, but the knocking sound is where you'd want to start.

There's plenty of waterproof mounts that can do all that. Look at Givi.

Turn 7 is really something people take a while with - you'd notice it a lot more on a 600/1000. It's deceptive and then drops down so people get nervous.

You smash it out of turn 6 and run up the inside preparing and then the horizon drops and you lose perspective. Particularly tricky when you are wanting to put some weight into the front tyre because you feel like you're lifting the front (perspective change) so you dig into the brakes too much.

I wouldn't worry about your times so much in green if you are running consistent lines. Inconsistency is the big problem for me - I hold up behind people for a while to make sure I can pass them without a sudden weird swerve. It's a track day after all so everyone is trying to pass politely and not cause a wreck.

The price hike was because they are having trouble making it profitable. They bought into the tender thinking it would be a feeder for their training, so initially they were willing to run at a slight loss, but the business hasn't come through as they hoped so they have to recoup through the ride days themselves.

They've even gone down from 3 ambos to 2.

Cleaned it, cleaned it good.

I wanted to take off the vents so I could sand it down and do a nice repaint,
but they're glued on like fuck.

Wanted to keep it as a spare for passengers but I've noticed the cheek/chin padding came loose and it's moving around,

Plastic (polycarbonate) helmets can be damaged by some paints. Generally, if you want to paint a plastic helmet, you either buy the crazy expensive polycarbonate paint or you paint a new helmet over the top of the existing coating.

Fibreglas / FRP is good to paint, sand, whatever.

Also, if it's the comfort padding, not the bump liner that's loose, it's generally no worry.

My question is: On a 2001 SV650S, how do I just remove the rear brake caliper without disassembling it? I only want it off the wheel so I can change chain and sprockets. I know not to press the brake pedal while caliper is empty.

Do I undo caliper housing bolts? Caliper mounting bolts? Both?

Don`t forget to grease the chain and sprockets after you are done.
Clean in the near the front sprocket as lost of shit collects there.

>>16722430
CBR250R is very popular
+parts probably everywhere
+can ask anyone
-it's popular and hating popular things is cool

Meanwhile there's the Ninja 250SL
++++++there's barely anyone with it
+huge Kawasaki store so parts is not an issue
-don't like the headlights
+love everything else about it

By "popular" I mean I've seen it at least once on the road not counting the one my friend owns and another one in the office and by "barely anyone with it" I mean I have never actually seen anyone with it except for videos on youtube of people riding it around my city.

It's all about underbones and scooters here.

1. at what point did they realise they fucked up
2. are they thinking about how not worth the super epic youtube vid the pain is?

i think my favourite are people who do enduro bike riding doing jumps off things and fucking up the landing or losing their bike mid air, they always scream like something totally unexpected and unfair is happening. like they in no way deserve their injury. like their accident was some kind of total freak accident and not them doing something retarded

people actually in freak accidents like a deer jumping out of the trees or a car hitting them or losing control of their bike in a much more normal way like sliding out or accidentally wheeling from a dropped clutch never scream the same

I know a lot of people sell their small backs relatively quickly after riding them for a little bit, but I just really like the way the R3 feels and rides. I know it's not the best three-hunnid out there but it's something I can see myself keeping until it gets destroyed/stolen.

I can easily see myself getting another one if they do a facelift with it and using it for city riding after I race prep this one.

Not saying I won't have a larger super sport though, that's still on the table.

Your snide comment is ironic. The only SV650 I've ever ridden on a track was his. I crashed and needed to start the last race of last season to get enough points to win a season trophy, and he was the only guy who stepped up and let me use his bike. I don't know how he goes as fast as he does on that thing. Hope he comes back.

The R3 cuck at least is only paying 11% more money for his meme machine. (assuming he financed 5k flat). The rate isn't as bad if he countercucks the loan jew and pays bi-weekly.

17.8%! that is literally paying 30% more for the fucking bike (if it's only 36 months), if he's getting that shit of rate he's likely doing 60 months which means he's paying 51% more.

This is why subprime autoloans will lead to the next market crash.

I don't see it being possible you're running out of grip on them, I think this is a riding technique problem.

Tank-slappers by design are usually not from a lack of "grip" on the front end, the front end needs grip to weave, it's from a lack of weight.

Where do you sit when you take a corner?
