Yea, I'm a slow fucker. Nothing is going according to plan lately. I still have a handful of old orders needing to go out, but I've been dropping at least a few orders in the mailbox daily. Having to wait 3 months for a fucking sticker is not acceptable, especially if you're already paying so much for them. Graphic Design is an intensely over saturated field and I don't have the money to go to a fancy school for "connections". Plus I don't think it would be a very fulfilling field for me to go into. I have taken a few traditional art classes though, and was always artistic as a kid.

I think I'm 100% dropping the FRS goal to look for a 300zx 2+2 NA that I will eventually drop the tt engine into.

I was thinking about some kind of (most likely) one-off slap involving this image, but something along the lines of "Gee Bill, how come your mom lets you have TWO turbos?" but I have no idea how to finish it off or how to do anything to change it.

(un)fortunately I live in a city apartment with no real place to work on my car, so most likely I'd find a reputable mechanic to work on it until I possibly move away from the city so I have more space to actually do things. The tt engine bay does seem very tight though. All the electronics in the tt model seem like they would all be broken by this point, too. Seems very prone to electrical gremlins. I think the na model will have less luxuries though, so less to go wrong I feel.

that's exactly what I'm doing now. Found a really clean 2+2, did all the maintenance, upgraded brakes / swapped out all suspension for adjustable solid shit. Now I'm saving up and waiting for a good opportunity to snatch an engine to swap into it. Still not 100% sure what route I'm going to be going, NA-T conversions are getting pretty popular at a cheap price. Supposedly the stock NA block with a single turbo can take up to 500-600 rwhp without intercoolers if you run E85. So it's either that, TT, or the cliche as fuck (but who really cares) LS1 w/ turbo.

Do it anon, they're a bitch of a car to work on but 300ZXes (even NAs, despite what some people say) are truly one of a kind. It's got that timeless aesthetic that looks like it hasn't aged one bit since it was released. And yeah they're a bit pigfat but despite that they're still pretty nimble in the canyons, I've beaten a handful of people in FRS/BRZs off the line when racing- it's a slow car in NA form but not to the point where it's utterly useless.

Also the na engine shouldn't be a problem for me, the fastest car I've owned is an NA Miata and that isn't even fast. I think the ~200hp of a na 300zx will be amazing for me while I read about single turbo additions / engine swaps.

While you're here, what's a reasonable price to pay for an na 2+2? I'm seeing prices all over the place for the few that are around me. People I've gotten opinions from say $4k is a good price if it's clean and doesn't have a shitload of miles.

I'd probably say yeah, $4-6k with it being in great condition with all maintenance for the foreseeable future and a clean frame/paint/interior sounds about right, but I don't know where you live. I had to drive 3 hours to pick mine up and paid around $6k but mine was in near excellent condition. If you get lucky maybe you'll find a good price near you. I've noticed a lot of people are buying up the NAs now that 240sxes are growing in price as the new cheap drift car so expect prices for the NAs to eventually skyrocket as well.

If you do find one in fairly decent shape for cheaper (~$3k) keep in mind that going to a mechanic with a 300ZX is very, very expensive- some shops even have it on a ban list because of how much of a bitch it is to get shit done in the engine bay. You'd probably end up paying another $2-3k in repairs and get back up to that $5-6k price range. I ended up getting out of that by doing preventative maintenance myself, but like you said in your situation you don't really have the opportunity for that.

However, that being said, once you've inspected the motor for good health and gotten the 120k timing service out of the way, the NAs are pretty much indestructible. I've been dailying mine 70 miles a day, 5 days a week, for the last two years and she's never broken down on me once. Not going to expect the same with the T/TT swap, at that point it's most likely going to go back to being my weekend car. Good luck, let us know how the search goes!
