I lived outside of Holt for 12 years. Gulf side gets plenty of fun; safer and cheaper inland though.

But hurricane parties are fun anon.
>>
>>16585311
They are. And having a deep well and a lil generator to keep the fridge and deep freeze cold (and A/C if you spend the $$$ on a nice one) was great, too.
>>
>>16585259
we haven't seen a proper hurricane in years, and it's usually only one or two per season where I live
>>
I won't lie, I don't know much about motorcycles.

I've just finished watching a few motorcycle crash videos, and some of them were just the guys making what seems to be a completely normal turn on a perfectly sunny day and their bikes just fall out from under them

why would that even happen? Are bikes really that unstable?

there are all sorts of things you can do to upset a bike the untrained viewer may not be aware of, the two most likely parts to lowside of a corner are.

1. 1/2 way through trailbraking, where balancing braking and turning with the front is the trickiest.

2. at the first touch of the throttle mid corner, it deloads some weight off the front wheel and adds a little more lateral force which can cause it to lose traction.

Both of these might appear to be "nothing" to the casual viewer.

Sometimes however.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZBjPIIPmU0

It just is what it is, there was some shit on the road (diesel in this case) and off you go.

Diesel is satan's fuel for this reason.
>>
>>16585362
that one's simple, in the middle of rural T intersections a gravel triangle will form as cars do not touch that section, it wears off the road and accumulates there in the middle.

Easy.
>>
>>16585362
That's why you don't drive next to cars

>>16585362

the crash in question is at 7:10
>>
>>16585362
This is why I'm happy to stay under 50mph, if you have to lean a lot and you drive over a diesel slick it's game over
>>
>>16585392

>>16585370
>>
>>16585362
That first one looks like he was on the front brake and then hit a patch of something or that crack and he locked it up, and didn't react in time to not wash out like that.

>>16585392
Definitely hit a patch of gravel.
>>
>>16585398
I know I just wanted them to know which one I was talking about

it's scary that just gravel or gas could do all that
>>
>>16585405
Usually when that happens you can react and save it and just pucker real hard.
>>
>>16585392
Either hit gravel or punched the throttle during a turn, these aren't cars you can't do that shit

These kits are pretty cheap and have good reviews but I don't know if I will need any extra supplies. Also do these act as both high and low beam or just low?

soon to be tall-mc22anon here, finally test rode the thing and turns out my knees weren't actually uncomfortable when i don't wear bitch pants.

now, i intend to use the thing as a commuter alongside my lil scooter, but thing is, it'll probably be handy to have both bikes with storage for emergencies.

so, would i be a dickhead for getting panniers on the cbr and painting/plastidipping (which will be done by professional custom people who are actually good at that shit) and decal-ing them to look the same as the bike? topboxes look sorta lame.
>>
>>16586502
Yes. Get a top box because panniers will interfere with filtering more than you'd like
>>
>>16586508
even some low-profile small storage ones? i don't filter a ton anyway, there's very rarely dense traffic around me.

maybe a topbox and then remove it on occasion for muh aesthetics? sorta defeats the purpose of having emergency storage but hey im a fag

The MC22 has decent storage under the seat, you could run a tank bag, or even just a seat bag, but if you need more, Look at Ventura racks and one of their bags. You can remove the top half of the rack super easy and you only have some brackets left, doesnt look too autistic.

I bought mine as a complete headlight but from I researched before buying them you'll need things like a hair dryer or heat gun to remove back of your headlight housing. Some flat head screw drivers, clamps and silicone adhesive for putting it back together, and possibly some metal brackets to mount the projector housing into your headlights. This video is for an R6 but its the same basic principle.

I decided to not go through all that bullshit though and just bought mine already done as I'm positive I would have fucked something up if I tried doing it myself as far as all the wiring stuff goes.

b. have a scary experience that makes you break your neck, never breath again.
If you survive, spend rest of your time shitposting in /dbt/ like you know all there is to know about bikes.

Option 2: never buy a bike because jesus christ don't you realise how dangerous those things are!?!?!? Then proceed to spend rest of time shitposting in /dbt/ like you know all there is to know about bikes.

OH ok, whenever it's wheel bearings, I just assume BMW.

You are allowed 2mm of wobble in the wheel, which doesn't sound like alot, but will sure feel like it when you grab and wobble it. On the road, do you have a high-speed weave? How many miles on it?

Me, if it's not weaving and not whining, I don't worry, but that's me.

There's Directions here:
www motorcycleinstitute tk suzuki-vs1400-intruder/rear-suspension-and-final-drive.html

Looks like it's tap-it-out and hammer-it-in, with a drift or a big socket or (my fave) a wood block, like the end of a two-by-four. Keeps it going in straight.

If you are really worried, it would be great to measure the runout with a dial guage or at least a ruler against the swingarm.

How does applied force and the buoyancy of water apply to this topic?

And yes it is a "cage" although not a full cage that a XxStunter_420xX would use, just a better alternative to frame sliders. It has saved my bike from a great deal of damage twice now so I'm going to leave it on :3 There are delrin pucks on the ends of the cage so it acts the same as frame sliders just keeps the bike off the ground more preventing more damage. 10/10 would buy again.

Yeah, I got a 45ยฐ elbow that is necked down from a 2" pipe and painted black. It now runs mostly parallel to the bike and it's black to match the rest of the exhaust. I keep the muffle because lelmissions testing.

Did you buy it like that or did you do a bit of metal work? The bike's getting an oil change tomorrow and I might put the flush mounts back on and might knock this out too.

That is an amazing looking bike for being so close to stock. Just lowered the front, installed pods and a new handlebar, a new seat, and somehow deleted the rear fender.
Have any more pictures? I'd like to see how they dealt with the taillights.

I can't get a picture of it but I bought the elbow at Canuckistan Tire. I used a grinder (but a hacksaw would also work) and cut four slots about 1 inch down.

Use a hammer and a thinner pipe or wooden handle (I used a broom handle) slowly tap down the four petals.

I used the stock band clamp and exhaust gasket and placed the new tip so it was pointing down so rain won't drip in.

In theory, you have get a piece of stainless pipe and tape off the last 1/4" before painting it to get some more style points.

A lot of aftermarket mufflers for the R3 are around 1.25" in diameter, so I guess I'll pick up a short pipe in that spec cut it down, cut it down and put in some petals and clamp it down.

Build above storm surge level and build a house that a hurricane can't fuck up or fuck up much.

Storage is easy. Shipping containers are good to well over 100mph winds empty and unanchored, and you could pour two cheap/narrow/deepish footings then bolt the container corner fittings to those if want. I just got my one trip High Cube with doors on both ends for ~5500 delivered. It will be ride-thru bike garage shortly.

Hey /dbt/ I want to get a scooter for funsies, just something I can drive to the store if I want a soda, or to my bro's place. I have a Honda Accord as a DD so it would really just be used a couple times during the week.
I was looking at a 99 Honda elite, I like it because it looks like something straight out of Robocop. Any suggestions? I would like to keep it under 800 bucks.
>>
>>16588381

They will last 20,000km. I only put on ~8,000km last year. I bought the bike in June and set it to hibernate on November 24th. I didn't really want to be stuck with them for another entire riding season.

I'm bringing the bike out of long term storage in the beginning of March and thinking of putting the new rubber on in April or May. Going to get back in the groove of things before burning the best part of the virgin rubber.

Looks pleasantly clean. If removing the mixture screws I like to do it over a large tray in case o-rings and flat washers on some screws fall out. If they don't fall out, I bend a very small hook in the end of a paperclip then cut off the excess. Hook is about the size of this capital J.

Of course not all have washers. Fun trick is measure O-rings with muh Harbor Freight Pittsburgh digital caliper and buy in bulk for next to nothing off Ebay. Always buy Viton for fuel resistance.

Anyone expecting some new exciting tire around the corner?
I'll need a new set soon and have my eye on the M7RR, which appears to be great for me (good all-round performance, not sacrificing much in any category).
It's just that it's a 2014 tire, so if there is something on the Horizon that does the same thing but better, I'd rather have that of course.
