How do i into bikes if I basically know nothing about them and have never followed bike culture

Been watching Great teacher onizuka and it's making me want a bike lol.

Don't really care about going fast, something more to just cruise around the Suburbs in to do groceries or get some food

I'm an Australian consumer. can I get anything decent with $2-3k AUD? or is that too low of a budget.

All memeing aside, your first step is going to be getting yourself into a Motorcycle Safety course. I'm not sure what they offer Down Under, but it's imperative you take one. I also think Australia has some multi-year, multi-test system to get fully licensed. Someone else can correct. me

As for the bike, you're looking for a Standard type motorcycle or a low-CC cruiser.

For a standard, in Australia, probably a Honda Hornet or Suzuki SV650. But those aren't starter bikes.
If you can find one, buy a Honda Nighthawk. They look nice as fug, ride well, and are built like tanks. They're also dead simple so they're easy to work on.

For the light cruiser, a honda rebel is the easiest to find and work on, most dealers should have them.
Keep in mind though, the newest Honda Rebel has been redesigned from a classic "Cruiser" style bike to what's known as a "Bobber" style bike. You seem to be into the bobber style so it might be up your alley. Pic related.

I'm trying to decide between the CB500F and the SV650.

The CB500F is the cheaper of the two but it also has a much smaller engine and is a relatively bare-bones motorcycle

The SV650 is the gold standard standard and holds its value well. Its engine is also much larger and it looks nice as fug. However, it's also like $2000 more.

Look into older 70s bikes that have been gone through or well-taken care of. Ideally 500cc+ as they tended to be 4 cylinders.

They fit your cafe racer aesthetic, you don't really have to modify them though you can if you want, they're usually fairly cheap to fix if they break, reliable enough (if something breaks it'll run like shit, but it'll run), and fast enough that you can still smash touge when you get the urge (you will).

So I'm learning to ride a bike. and due to fucktarded EU laws, even though I only want to ride smaller bikes (~200ish) I have to learn on a 600. Now this isn't in itself a problem, I find it a lot easier to keep revs steady with the bigger engine, but since I've just started (literally 2 days of training) I stall a lot, and when I stall I fall over. On a smaller bike this is fine, but on the 600 I just cannot keep it from tipping over. It's not all about the weight, because the bigger bike is so wide I find my legs just aren't in a position where I can get them in a position to hold it up before it passes critical tipping point. Is there a best way to stop a bike from falling over?

How do I into adventure bikes?

I have my license, minimal experience on pic related (father's bike). While I love the bike, I can't ride within 50% of it's true capabilities yet, and want something I can do some long road trips with including some backroad/gravel stuff. I have no experience riding dirt bikes or anything two wheeled off road that isn't powered by my legs.

Adventure bikes are usually huge bored and off-road riding seems much more cerebral and technical than the fairly intuitive road riding I've done on a super sport. Where do I begin without trashing a new-to-me bike or killing myself on a 1200 twin?

For all the circlejerking about e-bikes right now they are nothing more then A-to-B commuting machines, glorified scooters, or expensive toys. Granted that many motorcycles fall in the same categories but given their longer range and the convenience of gas stations gasoline powered motorcycles are really the only practical option if you want to actually spend an entire day riding.

And so what if E-Bikes are the FUTURE of motorcycling? Five or 10 years down the line they may be able to completely replace petrol bikes, but right now they are a joke. Trump isn't a friend of the EPA or any Obama legacy programs so I don't see many of those initiatives getting renewed anytime soon.

Man, fuck my bike.

I love it, it rides wonderfully, it has plenty of power for the highway and interstate but not so much I am fighting back a beast in town. It handles well for being a heavy fuck and I love the feeling I get when riding.

What I can't stand though is the utter and complete idiots who do not give a flying shit that you are on a motorcycle, cut you off, merge into you, and rear end the piss out of you.

I go the speed limit, offer plenty of visibility, don't do stupid shit, and am clearly visible, but the number of SUV and 4X4 idiots who just do not pay attention, give a fuck, and (worse yet) actually throw shit at you for riding a motorcycle at the speed limit is balls out insane and has killed it for me.

I am making payments on a bike I haven't ridden in almost two years because of the asshats in my area.

I finally go to sell the bike to a dealer (selling private when the title is tied up with a loan for about a year still is a no-go in my state) for them to pay it off at $3k and they won't touch it despite the bike selling for 8-9k in the condition this one is in with the miles it has on it with bike week coming up right around the corner because 'its a risk'.

I regret buying the god damned thing. I will never own another one again and as soon as it is paid off I am selling it on the cheap just to remove it from my sight.
