I'm back now, went out to eat, I'd drive it and listen for bad wheel bearings, bounce the vehicle on all for corners to make sure the suspension's good, look at the valve cover for leaks, slam on the gas and make sure the motor stays smooth, pop the oil cap and check for excissive blowby on a worn engine, normal stuff to make sure it was decently taken care off

Sickness almost wearing off. Still haven't installed the BWR LCAs but the Hondash coming earlier than scheduled from Slovakia was a positive for my days off. Now I know my two engine codes. It was three when I plugged it in but after clearing them only two came back. One for the missing O2 sensor and one for the missing intake air temp sensor. Also learned that not only is my speedo ahead by like 20mph, but my RPM is ahead by like 300 when idling. I just gotta find the leak and it should be good to go.

Might find a good little tablet to leave in my car that will handle all the Hondash gauges and music. Still wanna do a permanent tablet install like my buddy did with his car. I just gotta find a black lower console somewhere to move my climate control and head unit into.

When are you faggots going to wake up and get a real care? Honda is literally pathetic. They haven't accomplished a single admirable feat in the world of automobiles or motor sports. They overbuild and under stress to cash in on this reliability meme which isn't even real and is why Hondas suck seriously kys

To that minnesota anon with the K build:

Solid CEL with no code is one of two things: ECU fault from bad flash (probably not this in your case)

Check engine light is grounded causing it to turn on. I think I recall you saying something about a headlight turning off too. Typically if something was on and is now off because you started the car, you've energized the area that it was using as a ground and so there's no potential difference. (no voltage)

I'd check my wiring thoroughly including disconnecting and reconnecting connectors and grounds to ensure good contact.

These days not much since i'm broke. I've read of a few things you can do to the 1.5T engine, it's capable of more than the 174hp standard. It would be nice to to get it up to around 220hp at least and it would not affect the transmission
It's a surprisingly good CVT
or damage it. Not that fuel economy matters, unless i'm on the highway it only gets 13-18 mpg in normal stop and go even in econ mode.

Who /mixedfeelings/ about the new civic here?

I'm kind of excited for the new SI, but I also sometimes feel it just looks too mature. Part of the appeal for Civics to me were their simple, toss-able boyracer appearance.
>>
>>16551381
I have major mixed feelings about the new civics because it is getting too nice for my tastes, it's just not a car that you can swing around anymore, and Hondas hold their value so damn well it'll be about 10 years before you they become somewhat disposable for young people.

2016 Civic EX-T sedan owner here.
Biggest problem for racers is that it simply doesn't hold corners well at speed. It's quick in a straight line but the wheels break free way before they should when cornering. I've had a couple close calls already when I didn't feel like I was going all that fast.

I honestly don't know what you did to get it loose like that. Are you not using VSC? It's not just traction control. You can't go into corners at ludicrous speeds and hope to it turning, it oversteers. Other than the fact it's a FWD it takes corners better than a normal subaru impreza sport.

I had health insurance for like a quarter of the year then realized it wasn't worth the $150 a month so I stopped paying. I didn't even go to the hospital at all. It helps that I became eligible for medicaid, though.

>said this year my premium would be $190 a month

How much money do they think I make? I barely claim any tips at all. Fucking jews.

I'm so glad based Trump is already getting rid of that shit. I shouldn't lose part of my tax return because I can't afford health insurance. It's backwards as fuck.

The mandate is ridiculous, my mom works at HealthNet, and she has the pleasure of telling people their co-pay is $5000, literally no point in having insurance when a can of pineapples fell on my mom's toe and broke the shit out if it, it wasn't even $5000 for that hospital visit.
>>

>finally give up and try to get an inhaler somewhere
>driving difficult as fuck, lacking oxygen
>stop at the poverty clinic, ask for an inhaler or something, can't help me
>go to local hospital ER, deep regret
>ask for inhaler
>they take me to a room and send a million fucking nurses in
>give me breathing treatment and $70 prescription for inhaler
>bill me $1900

I got their number saved and never answer. That was a fucking scam. Luckily my town is littered with different hospitals.

I was mentioning trans cooler before i read the manual post. Though yeah issue in em2 is drum brakes are weak but fairly cheap to swap for disks and the headers on d17a2 does legitimately better and safer on a d16y8 header. If you have the cash try for a different cam shaft or anything else I mentioned before a cold air intake. Cold air intake give so little gains you might as well just have a better filter and calll it a day.

Hey /hg/.

I changed the battery on my Accord 97 shitbox, and now the radio is disabled. It locked up into "anti theft mode" and the theft light blinks whenever the radio is on.

I don't have a code to reset the radio since I didn't buy the car from a dealership, nor is it anywhere in the manual or stickered to the car. I entered my radio serial number onto hondanavicode, along with my VIN, and the code Honda emailed doesn't work to enable my radio.

Where do I stand here? I drive daily for a few hours and haven't listened to my radio in over a month. Life is depressing as is, and now Honda stopped me from stealing my own stock radio.

Thoughts?

Dealer or aftermarket.
>>
>>16550392
the only real issues with my em2 are locks and the engine mounts. Locks on earlier years use cheaper plastics which warp easy. Been better than my childhood friends 8th gen coupe. Though he should check the mounts if they were replaced or not. Replacement is free still i believe.

If I go to a dealership, I'll have to talk to a greedy shithead service advisor, then they'll take my car for over an hour and let some HS dropout "tech" figure out how to disable the anti-theft and potentially fuck with my car.

Then, they'll write up a receipt with a bill for $45/hr labor. Why would I take it into a dealer?

Im not kidding. Theyre just not popular, thats why im asking about issues. The one that ive seen is being sold most likely imported from US. Therefore it is highly possible it has fuck ton of mileage that was rolled back. Also, what about rust? Are they rusty as prev gen civics?
>>
>>16553498
Where do u live bra
>>
>>16553498
Rust isn't too much of an issue, mine is on the bad side and that only means the rockers might need attention in the next year or two, and a handfull of small spots in the body. As for mileage, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless something important is very obviously wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the main reason they're unpopular is that Honda gave them crappy alignments from factory. 1/32 toe out on the front, straight on the rear, 1.5* camber front and .75* rear is what I've been told is a decent setup.

Yeah, thats why I have been asking about known issues with 2001 civics. If theyre reliable then mileage isnt that imporant.

Rust doesn't spread too fast on mine though the hand break is the most rusted thing on mine other than drivers side door. They arent popular outside of the us because not many even went to places like europe to begin with minus the ep. They didnt make many for outside of north america. Bong em2 is rare as fuck m8.

>>16553529
Crappy alignment is worse on the face lift. I still need to align mine they arent on stock alignment but also arent quite right. Stock camber. Tears the absolute fuck out of the outer tread on the tire thanks to the toe alignment and camber setup. If I recall its not.even camber but positive camber on stock. Really 1-1.5 is fine when chanhing it from what ive seen for the front.

The K24 is certainly a better engine, as the B20Z didn't really make enough power to pull around a CRV.

Hi, I have two cars I can choose from for my first. Are 4th gen abused civics reliable? My mom bought one used it for 18 years, got an Audi Q3 and left the EC hanging around. Other car is a 1996 Explorer that has been used for 16~ years totaled once, engine rebuilt twice due to cooling problems. sorry for blog
>>
>>16557294
yep
>>
>>16557321
If you aint got cash for old car dont pick up an old car. 4th gen is reliable but not as cheap as it once was.

The civic will probably need some work. It'll be more reliable in the long term but parts will be harder to find.

>I'd take the Civic over the Exploder any day
ok, but it's really low and the roads here are shit. I'm also overweight at 6"2 with 200lbs~. How do I avoid scrape scrape?
>>
>>16557800
How shit we talking? Old Civics at stock height are pretty damn high.
>>
>>16557812
like potholes left and right, literally crumbling. This EC is low imho since it can't take a speedbump without scrape. (Dominican Republic for reference) Civic parts should be no prob since the nig nogs love them here for the high mpg and low maintenance
>>
>>16557832
I'd give it a trial run and see how it does. If it's low enough to scrape I can only assume the suspension is just worn out.

I'm personally paranoid of Explorers because I know at least a few people that had to scrap them pretty quick.

Get premium just to be sure it doesn't knock, my uncle put 87 octane in his G coupe because chea ass, and it knocked like hell while not making nearly the hp per liter of a B18C.

Ethanol vs non ethanol for my 92 accord?

From my experience, albeit with a 1NZ-F engine, octane doesn't do anything to a stock engine. If you're running anything that specifically tells you to use high octane, or a heavily modified engine, then use it, but for a stock engine it doesn't matter at all.

Vtec is nice, auto trans is odd, idk what the absolute fuck the first owner did to this thing completely still but its got more hp and tq that stock, seats feel nice, and easy to learn how to do things on. I have many complaints like what the fuck did the first owner do to get a dimond ring stuck in where the strut connects with the body, why was there so many pennies in housing for the handbrake, its dying and i dont kniw what to do about it eveb though i have more than enough cash to fix it, brakes are weak and not stiff, hear everything even dirt stuck in the doors, and i never get consistent mpgs no matter what i do also paint chips easy.

>>
>>16563179
Oh no i was more triggered at the interior my brother delt with when he had it. Its tan inside, when i got it it was black from smoke.
Vin gives me nothing for long periods of time for my car. There are no plastic cap holding the interior down at all which makes me think it was stripped at some point, there is aftermarket internals and part of a intercooler for a auto trans here. Yes olny part of one. Never buy if its origin is from miami. It still is in better shape than most other honda coupes older than 10 years in nc.
>>
>>16563233

That's the night i picked it up from the dealership.

Low end torque is actually worse on the 2.0L and you lose power from 2000 to 3000. My 1.5T the lag is shorter than you think. In econ mode is very long but that's econ mode. If you give it a blip of throttle before you take off in S/sport it takes off very quickly. You need the traction control since you can spin your tires. Lately in the snow and ice the low end torque has done very little to help me other than the VSC light flashing every time I accel from a dead stop. Once I upgrade it and it gets warm with summer tires i'm going to have some proper fun with it.
