Only part that matters is the bottom end thats actually inside your engine, you can check the electrode and insulator to kind of guess how your engine is running.

So with my drz, the wiring harness sits right behind the headlamp, all the wires look fine, everything is wrapped an stuff.

Should I be worried about water? Like a simple wash and some rain? Obviously I wouldn't be drowning it, but I know absolutely nothing about wiring/electronic work.
>>
>>16530957
Motorcycles are built for all kinds of weather. You don;t have to worry when washing it too. As long as you don't do anything retarded like shoving the nozzle of a power washer behind your headlight or into your battery compartment you will be fine.

Alrighty, my only experience with bikes is a cbr250, where all the wires are tucked nicely under fairings an quite dusty.

Just odd to have a clusterfuck of wires there.

Thank you though!

Second gear, put it in gearand roll backwards until you hit compression. Pull in clutch and start pushing (or roll down a hill) and release the clutch when you reach 10kmph-ish (jump on it if you're pushing)

it should fire up

or just switcharoo the battery, get it started and put in the old battery then go for a drive

On it senpai ;). What scares me though is valve adjustment. What are the chances of causing Stalingrad?
I'm thinking of pulling the covers open, measuring clearances and then seeing how well can i access it and how confident I feel.

Did my CBT on a shitarse chinese bike today, fucking hell it was bad. Left mirror kept moving by itself, sometimes it just wouldn't shift to first and had to throttle the shit out of it to get the thing started. Road section I was behind another learner and he stopped still in the middle of a roundabout because he didn't hear the instruction for which exit...had to swerve to not die. Smashed it though, i'm not in the market for a 125.

Ridden a 125 for nearly a year now, trust me it will do everything you want it to, except go above 70mph.

It is possible he was riding a cheap and nasty chinese bike that would skip out of gear back into first and was incapable of starting without throttle due to being jetted poorly.

>>
>>16532061
Your bike probably has shit throttle reponse for a number of reasons (secondary butterflies, bad accel enrichment, etc) not involving the literally less-than-one-thousandth-of-a-second time between the ECU telling your injector to open and the injector actually opening. Humans cannot even perceive anything shorter than around 8 ms.

Humans can not perceive something that happens in less than 0.041 of a second, anything over that is fair game though.

Its not in the bucket I dont even remember putting it in

pinesol wtf haha
>>
>>16533036
to each their own, i also prefer airheads for backwoods trail bashing since you dont have rads to smash or puncture.

i smashed a water pump on a klx a while back when a stick flipped up and jammed between it and the ground. ended the day real fast
>>
>>16533132
>pinesol wtf haha
Yeah works 10x better than lemon juice and you don't have to boil it
>being retarded
Got me there. Wasn't paying enough attention to what I was doing and misplaced it.
>>
>>16533143
The only time liquid cooling really helps is in traffic, no splitting or filtering here. And emissions but idgaf about that really.
>>
>>16533150
nigga use diesel like a real man and then pour it down the drain cuz who gives a fuck

>>16533171
or, you know, actually making power
>>
Small dilemma here
>looking at a 2007 fz6
>gut wants $3000
>taken care of low miles etc.
But then
>2008 cbr600rr shows up for same price
>slightly higher mileage
>looks perfect though
How uncomfortable are these Hondas anyway? I ride a lot without a car and id hate to find out i cant do a 100 mile round trip daily on it.
>ive never ridden a ss so is it doable?
>>
>>16533177
>diesel to clean carbs
Almost anything works better in m experience
>air cooled can't make power
Plenty of air cooled bikes have no problem making the same power as lc bikes. As long as you're not sitting in traffic.
>>
>>16533207
>Plenty of air cooled bikes have no problem making the same power as lc bikes.
nowhere close to true but ok
>>
>>16533207
Find me an air-cooled 180+ HP 1000cc i4, protip, they can't make that kinda power.
>>
>>16533225
Thing is, all the powerful bikes have moved to liquid because it wont sell without it.
It would be possible, but i cant give a example if no one will make it
>>
>>16533230
so remind me why track only and offroad bikes are still water cooled

make sure to post the crash webm here

PS don't put your helmet on the gas tank, fumes venting from the cap will degrade the EPS liner
>>
>>16533236
Because it's pretty much the standard.
Hard to sell a bike if everyone turns the nose up at aircooling.
An old coworker had a 750cc 2 stroke, air cooled, putting out around 150hp. I know it obviously wasn't from the factory, but he didn't have a problem with cooling.
>>
>>16533281
well you should get your neighbor and revolutionize the motorcycle industry by bringing back air cooling
>>
>>16533192
Get the cbr m8
Unless you have weak wrists it's not really a big deal
Plus you can lay on the tank on the highway comfy
>>
>>16533262
It's just squared off cause I moved to Flarda where there isn't a single curve for 300 miles, makes me want to kill myself... or sell out for a Miata
>>
>>16533281
>2 stroke
Gee I wonder why?
>>
>>16533285
If i worked with Vynl records it could work with air cooling
>>16533289
I think he should ride one first, it's not for everyone
>>
>>16533298
IIRC 2 strokes put out more heat anyway
>>
>>16533192
I've had both an FZ1 and a CBR, honestly I think the supersports are comfier cause you can lay on the tank. There's also aftermarket seats if you're a pussy
>>
Hey /dbt/ just had my first serious accident after riding for 3 years. I was merging lanes on the 405 South to get on the 101 North. While merging I fell into a pothole and got flung off of my 2016 R6. Frame, bar, and swing arm sliders saved my bike but my clutch lever is bent and the plastic around the seat is shattered. Can I make a claim of this to the city since it's their fuckup?
>>
>>16533312
Thanks ill take that into consideration.
>>16533302
Yeah ill see if i can ride it for like 20+ minutes or so. Problem is its a private seller and I think he'd get suspicious if i was gone that long.
>>
>>16533325
yeah but youll probably need witnesses/video/evidence of some kind
>>
>>16533325
Call the city and tell them about it, depending where you are they have a month after the first report to fix it.
Otherwise they are liable for damage it caused.
This is very dependent on location s ymmv.
But I had my city pay me almost $500 worth of damage to my truck because of this.
>>
>>16533333
You forgot to say quints get
>>
>>16533333
>>16533332
I got no evidence other than the damage to my bike, there was quite a bit of traffic and I didnt want to cause a hold up so I picked up my bike and got out of there as fast as possible
>>
>>16533192
>>16533327

Depends on the bike and how well you fit. I can barely ride 2-3 hours on my RVF400 without getting numb wrists, sore back etc. But I've done 5 hours on a CBR1000RR and it didnt hurt a bit. Wider and taller handlebars, a steering dampener, less forward lean angle and a nicer shaped tank helped so much.
>>
>>16533354
In my case I didnt need any more proof than the phone call. They paid for my tire, wheel, and control arm.
I didnt even need a lawyer, but my city is pretty cucked cause it's like 2 square miles.
>>
>>16533381
I'm in Los Angeles, I wonder if that's gonna make it better or worse. I dont even know who to contact
>>
>>16533395
I think you can call 311 as long a you have an LA area code, report it and ask for a reimbursement form.
I haven't lived there in about 5 years now so things may have changed
>>
>tfw ordered the wrong oil filter
>Its the same size different part number

What could go wrong?
It's on
Oil changed
But im scared to ride it
What if it's missing a bypass valve or something?
>go to the shop tomorrow and buy the right one
Cause I don't wanna fuck it up

If it screwed on properly it should separate the good oil from bad and as long as the flow rate is same or better it wont hurt the engine
I'd just ride I until the next oil change
>>
>>16533480
Ur mum
>>
>>16533310
wrong. 2 strokes run a lot cooler because they have a lot less moving parts to generate heat

Try to find friends with various classes of bikes and try to swap bikes for a day to see which ones fit you better.

>>16533192
>100 mile round trip
That's nothing. When I first got my CBR600 I was already doing 150 miles on it.
>>
>>16533460
>he already put it in
ur fucked m8 there's no going back now
>>
>>16533564
The 100 mile trip is for work, I usually do more after.
But that's my daily minimum for riding cause I literally don't have a car.
It sounds like the supersports aren't as bad as I thought.
>>
>>16533574
I certainly wouldn't call it the ideal bike for commuting and my bike even has rather mellow positioning for a supersport. Definitely test ride one before you buy it if you depend on this bike.

If the trip is 50 miles each way I wouldn't consider it an issue personally. However I only rode mine for like 2 weeks before putting it up for winter and maintenance and shit (not going to pay to insure 3 bikes through winter when I don't get the opportunity to enjoy a ride often).
>>
>>16533601
Southern TX here, so I don't put my bike away. I'll be sure to get a ride on one first, thanks for the info bro.
>>
>>16533631
What are you riding now?
What's the need for a new bike?
A bike for commuting doesn't need to be fast
>>
Would I be retarded to be a supermoto as a first bike? I want something for eventual track use when I think I'm ready for it, but also want something for light offroad and if I can get away with one bike for both I'd prefer that. I was looking at a Suzuki DRZ400 to be specific.

>>16533649
I have an 04 ninja 500
