flat seat is good.

Not much to grip onto with that tank and the velour is probably a bit slippy though.

yeah nobody would take an axe to a bike they're trying to ride off with.
>>

Maybe they didnt have a grinder at their store?
>>

Or maybe it's that a grinder would cut just about any lock in 20 seconds so it wouldn't help sell $200 locks that offer the same protection as $20 locks.
>>
>>16496166
grinders arent common tools around here because of the noise they make.
shrouded hardened locks are good to stop hand tools though

Yep, anything decent or better will do this.
Fit should be snug out the box.
Shit helmets will have noticeable pressure points
>>
>>16496428
yes, in particular the cheek pads will loosen up a lot.

It's best to buy a helmet that feels juuust too tight (especially on the cheeks) and it'll loosen up and fit perfectly.

>heavy

yeah I have basically the heaviest helmet around (Shark Vision R) and when I first swapped to it I got a bit of a sore neck while riding but you'll get used to that too.
>>
>>16496442

Thanks. I test fit a large which felt too snug. Then I settled on an XL (wore a large in my motorcycle class) and its just tight around my cheeks and jaw just infront of the ears. Its Sug, but comfy everywhere else. Wanted to check with you guys before I considered returning it for XXL.

No bike yet, I'm going to offer a price on a bike near me; waiting for my license to come in the mail.

I took the written test on Halloween, they said it could take up to 2 months for my license to get to me. After the new year, no license but I did get both jury duty notices. Went to the DMV, nice lady waived the lost license fee and said it should be coming to me in a couple weeks.

As I understand it, its considered courteous to at least show I have an M1 endorsement before test riding someone's bike.

I have been using a $7 k-mart backpack for around a year and a half.

I only really use it to carry my phone, keys, wallet and a bottle of water when out riding though. Occasionally my 12 inch laptop.

Just get something smallish and waterproof, doesn't need to be riding specific, if you want to carry heavier and bigger stuff strap it down onto the back of the bike you don't want that shit on your shoulders and back.

Tank bags are also good because they keep weight nice and central but they can get in the way on longer trips.
>>
>>16496567
I've been using the same Camelbak backpack i've used for about 10 years, works fine although it would be nice if it were waterproof. Don't buy anything with too many straps to flap around in the wind.

In my county because so many people "never got their jury duty notices" they now standardized it to send 3 notices including nastygrams if you just never respond. After the 3rd notice they issue a bench warrant for the county which can come with a $1500 fine if the judge feels like it. Its well known by the court and even police that the bench warrants are being enforced also.

The saddest part about Indian closing its doors in the 50s is knowing that with noone to copycat Harley Davidson would allow American motorcycles to stagnate.

Imagine what our bikes would look like today if Indian was around to innovate.

Mismatching tires are a thing for two kinds of riders:

trackday racers who consider tire profile and personal preference when selecting pairs, who seek to make their bike handle better
and
shit riders who go through three rears before they go through a front and just buy whatever is cheapest at the moment, even if the tread patterns work against each other or if one is a steep radial and the other is a rounded bias ply
>>
>>16497121
people would probably be fucking tired of cruisers since they would just be cruisers instead of "harley davidson, an american thang", and we'd have decent bikes with stylistic hints to ye olden days

kind of like every other fucking country

metric cruisers didn't count since they can also be "jap scrap"

Ive been reading up on Indian lately and I was pretty astonished to see how innovative they really were.

The first Indian scouts had a geared primary drive clear back in the 20s, and made the first bikes with electric start.

Shame they were so poorly managed.
>>
>>16497044
US: Stock 21+ year old bikes can be EPA exempt and registered/used normally at the federal level. Calicucks have extra age restrictions for registration. Don't bet on insurance working out, consider a state like WA that exemtps bikes from emissions testing and mandatory insurance
Rest of the world: who cares
>>

You want the tightest fitment possible, its supposed to be tight so it doesnt move around your fucking head when you hit the pavement. If it makes you feel better, i hadn't ridden in months to keep the miles down on my bike while i try to sell it. So on the day i take it in to trade it in, i was walking it through the backyard and my foot slipped on the wet leaves and came THIS close to dropping my bike. I was able to hold it up and pick it back up.
So that's how my week has been.

They still took it with a scratch on the mirror heh

I don't have a power commander yet, so I won't be tuning it...

According to Wings and advrider, if I leave the DB killer in and don't remap it won't run much better than stock, but won't be worse at all. I'll be getting a power commander and an aftermarket intake soon and then I'll remove the DB killer and map it.

CS is the oldest e-sport that's popular today, and has the second biggest prize pool next to DOTA2. There's not a chance in hell that the only reason asians aren't in it is because they "don't give a shit". There's asian leagues, they all suck. Even in the US, I can only think of one pro player whos of asian descent, and I think there's one in the EU, but pretty much everyone else is white as fuck.

As far as other skill sports go, the only one's I've noticed are olympic lifting, where they have a mechanical advantage by being short as fuck.

What the fuck? Here in Italy when you make the request for a license they give you a temporary license for the category you apply for.

How the fuck do they expect people to be able to ride or drive if they can't even practice regularly?

Anyway if you really can't then practice on a scooter or something. It helps a bit. Don't give up after the first try. And why did they make you do a test the first time you rode a bike?

Is it worth it upgrading from a 2000 cbr 600f4 to a 2010 striple R? Is it a big upgrade?
Or should I just go to a speed triple or some other liter bike?
>>
I put dry chain lube on my bike but its wet outside is my chain going to get fucked up?
>>
>>16499216
>dry
>lube
Your chain is probably already fucked
>>
Britbong considering getting a bike to learn on. Only allowed a 125 until I pass the test.

Any recommendations what to get? I'm fairly tall and would use it for commuting.
>>
>>16499220
Not if it's one of the funky new sealed chains. Some of them use dry lube.
>>
>>16497455
Is that a corner, better be careful.
>>
>>16499346
its a sealed O ring chain.

Also, just realised, its a wax lube. Is that good or bad?
>>
>>16499132
It'll feel like a lot more power and the seating position will be a bit less aggressive.

That's about it.

I got myself a YBR 125 for cheap, fixed her up, then after a few months of L plate fagging I did my tests for it.

That's what I suggest you do.

Just about any 2nd hand 125 is good as long as it isn't Chinese.

Don't blow loads of money on a brand new one because you're going to drop it and you will want to get rid of as soon as possible when you're old enough to do direct access.
>>
>>16499394
It depends on the chain. Some take wax lube. You can always switch to good old chain grease, since that works with most seales o-ring chains. Some special models don't. But you wouldn't be asking this question if you had one.
>>
>>16498925
I see people recommending replacing the sprockets along with the chain to prevent accelerated wear on new chains, and there's plenty of people who have tested o-ring chains for long periods (thousands of miles) without touching their chain so there's that.
My sprocket looks fine but who the fuck knows if it's good for putting a new chain on. Might as well get a cheap chain and see what happens.

Dirt bikes from the 60's-90's look good. They had nice designs or simple plastics in neautral/likeable colors, rather than the ugly dirt bikes today plastered with noisy graphics and you look like the typical dudebro mountain dew teenager when riding one.
>>
>>16499401
>It'll feel like a lot more power
Will it though?

CBR: 110HP (0.65 HP/kg), 68 nm at 10500 rpm
Striple: 106HP (0.64HP/kg), 69 nm at 9100 rpm

This sounds pretty close
>>
>>16499339
When I hadn't passed my test I had an RS125
>>
>>16499438
Peak numbers isn't the actual powerband. A naked bike is going to have more midrange.

It's the same reason that up until the S1kRR the CBR1000RR still felt like the most powerful literbike you could buy, even though it was bottom of the dyno.
>>
>>16499459
So is the amount of fun worth the 3.5k euro investment?
>>
>>16499478
Entirely depends on what you want out of the bike.

Literally just go testride one.

Is this what they call a victory in the US?

Just meet with people from /dbt/

I see some "sparkling" chains around here.

Meanwhile, I finally figured out that with O-ring chains, I'm really lubing the sprocket, the chain is taking care of itself. I finally understand the dry-lube fetish, although I'm not going there myself.

No they don't. They look like trash, especially compared to something like an R1 or Fireblade

The CBR will never, ever die. If it's too uncomfortable you can fix that for cheap.

The triumph is, well, a triumph. But they're supposed to be fun. Also nekkid bikes get tiring if you spend more than five minutes above 50mph.

There aren't forms like that to fill out. The only time you get to say shit like that is when you're in a court room infront of a judge. There are a couple terms you can throw out there but since judges see thousands of people per month, its nothing new.

I got out of it by saying my employer doesn't pay for jury duty time and I could not afford to take time off work. For most people that will work.
