Asking as someone very interested in one, but not a huge wallet.
How much should you pay for a reasonably good condition mx5/miata and for what year?
Realistically, could one be got for under 3-4K and not be a money pit and need a shit ton of money spent on it immediately.
And if I was to go for a rougher one, how much are they to put back to a reasonable standard?
What are the biggest faults with these cars, or costs that they 9/10 will incur?

If you're willing to spend 5-6k get an NB as they're a direct upgrade from the NA (don't let NA drivers dissuade you, the NB even handles better than the NA)
The only real problems are rust

Miatas USED to be a budget sports car but they've been memed to oblivion. Miata listing are prime territory for "I know what I've got" unfortunately.

You are going to get ass raped so may as well get used to it.
>paying less than £1000 for an mx5
Feels good not to be amerifat
Also OP check for rust around the sills and rear arches, and tearing on the hood. Also check the engine doesn't make any tapping noises, this can be kind of common. everything else should be fixable

I actually rear-ended a guy in my Miata, not the other way around.
