02-06 don't bother imo, gutless down low. 07/08, alright but not my style, hate the ergos, banana shaped seat, prefer the stonking midrange of the CBRs and GSX-Rs of the era.

Just go testride all the leets you can afford and make your choice after, they'll all be fast and turn good enough for you.

ICBC. Its a crown company so you can only purchase insurance from this one company.

Of course, no one has any dynos comparing the generations.

they are a similar engine, the K5 has ti valves and such so it revs out better than the 03 but it's the same basic engine and bore/stroke ratio.

The difference is the k5 weighs 198kg, to this day it's lighter than any other I4 litrebike (the 2015 R1 is 199kg wet).

The K7 is almost exactly the same engine as the k5 in power delivery but the bike weighs 10+ kg more and turns worse.

the k9+ has less midrange and down low.

the 09+ gsx-r has a more oversquare layout and more emissions shit so bang, there's your crippled midrange, it's making "100hp" about 800 RPM later than the K5 and the bike weighs more.

You have to get the bike right up the top of the rev range in order to make more power than the k5 and it weighs more.

That's where it comes from.

to put it very simple, best power to weight ratio and quickest 0-60 time to this day. (Production motorcycles)

Any bike can reach 300km/h which is more than enough for public road so I think striving for acceleration makes more sense than building the next bike that reaches 500km/h no one will ever use.

That chart is bollocks.
The magazine that recorded the 2.35s on the GSX-R itself states that there is a .3s margin of error, so for all intents and purposes all the bikes on that list don't accelerate significantly faster or slower.
It really doesn't come down to weight or power, but geometry, tires, track surface and launch skill.

>>
>>16380866
Lol this chart is retarded. Even starting at the 600s, the 0-60 time is dictated more by rider skills than the actual power of the machine. Launching without spinning your wheel or flipping yourself over is the hard part.

even if you substract 0.2 from all the other bikes it would only be beaten by the hayabusa, vmax and ZX12r, all more CC than it. pretty impressive still that it can easily compete with the top-class of bikes that are 10 years newer.

I mean I don't disagree but the app is free and it's like you said more or less for novelty purposes as far as telemetry goes. That being said I do like that it maps your ride pretty accurately. I like to go out and just explore and sometimes I can't remember how to get to certain roads I've ridden and liked so it's useful in the sense that I can go back and look at the map of previous rides to put me back on track.

My point is that the power of these bikes are all so similar that there is no point in measuring lap times. You can calculate it based on displacement and geometry alone. Busa and zx14r have longer wheelbase and more torque therefore will theoretically be #1 on that chart given the rider is good enough

One thing that really struck me from the VTI study that Anon mentioned a few threads ago, was how much we drop our bikes just going slow. And yet we buy bikes that cost $2k to fix when capsized.

Yep. #1 or #2 selling small car in every market they are in world wide. Last place here. It was a totally different group than Suzuki Cycles, dedicated to the idea of creating the wimpiest cars ever made...

They do own the absolute record for Pikes Peak gravel and semi-gravel courses, though.

normies are still normies and have shit taste, even when they're gay, so they like cruisers. among normies, gays are even more likely to pick a cruiser over anything (no baggers) because they want to attract other men.

weird and gay autists are still autists and tend to have better taste so they like dual sports, sportbikes, sport tourers, nakeds, etc. you know, good bikes. they just ride what's good because they're too socially retarded to pick bikes that attract other men, dogs, fat girls in hyena costumes, etc, and just live with the chance that another autist will notice their good taste and not sperg out over it not being as good as their taste

see "casey boner" here, riding what you would expect a furfag to ride:

Not really. Once you learn throttle control and master your basic instinct to chop the throttle and get on the brakes it's easy.

Another good way to learn it is rolling burnouts since they're usually a lot safer than doing it around a corner.

But they don't hold up to abuse and crashes half as well

The extra 50-100lbs on commuter bikes with similar engines doesn't go into a seat padded with exotic matter
>>
>>16382484
>The extra 50-100lbs on commuter bikes
No, It goes into less advanced cheaper materials that weigh more.

No motorcycle crashes well. If a crash is severe enough and it didn't crack the frame its probably bent.

I'd rather not have that extra 100+lbs to lug around on a daily basis.

One of the best commuter bikes you can buy right now (FZ09) weighs ~400lbs too. So really there is no excuse for having a pigfat commuter bike.
>>
>>16382496
>less advanced cheaper materials that weigh more

usually translates into frames that don't twist, wheels that don't break at the hub, handlebars that don't snap, crankcases that can safely dent, and headlight assemblies that are built like bricks (and weigh as much)

But with that type of bike, it all comes with skinnier, less rigid forks that bend like bitches.
>>
>>16382484
Actually the k1-k3 GSXR series have on of the toughest and crashsafe frames and they still only weigh 198kg wet

The fuelling ws snatchy bt thats fixed with a $120 reprogram to remove restrictions and get more power anyway. Something pretty much everyone does to their bikes anyway.

The forks on them are fine, its the shock that was too soft. Fine for commuting but people couldn't get sportbike handling out of them, irrelevant for a commuter bike.

If you really want to have something closer to sportbike handling on one a ZX-6R shock fits without issue and fixes the rear end problem under hard riding for ~$60.

The two issues that bike has are easily and cheaply solvable.

You don't have to fix anything. If you want to ride it hard in the twisties those are two things that need work.

As a commuter bike they are perfectly fine out of the box.

People bought a high value commuter bike and expected sportbike performance and they didnt get it. What they got was a fun bike with a tractable powerful motor that was comfortable for commutes and best performance in it's class/price group.

If you want to turn a FZ09 into a capable canyon carver you can for about $200.

>>it nearly bucks you off with a snatchy throttle

Snatchy throttle doesnt matter in commuting, it only really matters when it can upset the chassis at substantial lean angles. Try again nobike.

The snatchy throttle is only noticeable when transitioning onto the throttle in a corner. You literally do not feel anythig slipping the clutch away from a stoplight you retarded nobike.

I've rode bikes described as snatchy before, and it's awful all of the time. Unless you don't know what snatchy means and think it's anything but abrupt, choppy, and uncomfortable, the FZ09 is hell to ride.

>Didn't read the rest. Looked like a bunch of poorfag justification for why his beat ass used bike is somehow better than a new bike from the highest quality motorcycle manufacturer on the planet.
New bikes cost as much as used cars. Buying one doesn't make you rich. It doesn't even make you look rich. Lower middle class men with families replace their motorcycles ever year and stay under budeget. Average 18 year olds with part time jobs finance bigger loans. Older milennials buy more expensive things IN CASH because they live with their parents even after working full time. To add to that, the depreciation curve on most motorcycles is insane, and the depreciation curve on something as unremarkable as an FZ09 is doubly insane - even though they accumulate less mileage and wear than cars. A 1998 car usually has upwards of 100k miles, a 1998 bike has 50k, and if it's not a yamaha, it's probably still running perfectly.

The only reason to buy new is to pretend to be rich when you're actually living paycheck to paycheck between paying off all your debt and stuffing pennies away for the next down payment
