Does the extreme cold tend to affect motorcycle electronics particularly? Was riding my CBR250R (only 5500 or so miles) and the high beams weren't kicking in after riding in cold weather (high 30s low 40s) and wind chill until the end of the ride and I was parking. I also notice the oil pump takes a fair while to prime and whine when it's this cold, but don't have those issues when it's above 50 F or so.

Yeah when I took the valve cover off my DRZ I noticed the timing marks on the cam sprockets were ever so slightly off of being parallel so I guess that means my cam chain is stretched. Oh well the bike runs perfectly anyway I'm not worried about it.

Pic is with the tensioner removed. I think it would be even worse with tension on the chain.
>>
merry xmas dbt.

question. is it ok to run the chain without 2 orings for a few days? i put the chain back on and couldn't get the clip enough room to fit with all 4 o rings on. it was too wide, and the clip couldnt fit. it's on good now, but like i said, minus 2 orings on the clip's side.
>>
>>16372776
interesting cause i actually really like the WP suspension on my bike.

the rear shock is perfect. only complaint is that the forks you cant adjust preload. but lately with work riding has been 90% commuting so im not upset enough to spend the money on different forks.

I doubt it is even close to being set up right for you, if you ever do ride a bike that is set up for you, then get back on yours, you will understand why it is so important
>>
>>16372807
i have enough o rings.
i can't fit the clip with all 4 on the master link.
>>
>>16372798
You'll be fine. Most dirt bikes don't run oring chains.
>>
>>16372812
Oh well then you need a new chain, or a really big magnet, one of the two.
>>
>>16372796
Are those stock cams? Miles on the bike?
I'm curious to see if having E or hotcams or other mods makes it worse
>>
>>16372808
"Start on a 250, because it won't be your last bike"
That one?

After riding 250s at my motorcycle class and other(larger) bikes, I know I'm grabbing something with a bit of juice.

Eyeballing older 650s. Keep for a couple of years, and move how I feel.
>>
>>16372813
The only bikes that don't are MX bikes and the only reason they do not is the chain is replaced every time the bike is ridden.

And it is all about weight saving because a non o ring weighs much less
>>
>>16372824
yeah all stock. I think the bike is around 20k miles, but can't be sure because I bought it with an aftermarket odo.

E/stage1 cams shouldn't make anything worse, but you might as well replace the cam and tensioner when you do the cams.
>>
>>16372820
chain's pretty new. i took it off to fit another chain for my other wheels with different sized sprockets.
went to put this one back on, and now it is really difficult to get the clip back on. i was squeezing the shit out of it with pliers.
any tips for this?
>>
>>16372831
What about stage 2?
>>
>>16372827
250's are good for starting but that's literally it. You'll want to upgrade within 2 months of riding.

older 650's and 500's are good because they have a linear powerband that won't take you by surprise but can easily maintain highway speeds. 250's can do highway speeds but not well and you'll pretty much be WoT the whole time.

Try loosening the rear wheel, like seriously did you loosen it as much as possible before trying to fit the chain again?
>>16372837
Yeah 250cc is the best beginner displacement
>>
>>16372836
idk. They have no compression release so good luck getting by with the stock battery/starter
>>
>>16372846
the chain is at it's fitment spot with proper slack. but there is room to adjust it looser for installing.
>>
>>16372846
250 2-strokes aren't really beginner friendly but i don't discourage noobs from buying them. they're durable af so if they crash there's no significant consequence like when riding your literbike into a guardrail.

However it will most likely slow down the rider and his learning curve by a fuckton.
>>
>>16372852
chain is too short then if it won't fit at the shortest adjustment point, idk what you fucked but you fucked something lol
>>
>>16372854
I would discourage a noob from buying a 250cc 2 stroke at all costs.
They are honestly scarier bikes to ride than any litre peter on the market and that is where the limiting factor comes in, you can't really become good at riding something you are terrified of.
>>
>>16372855
it fits, the master link is fully clipped on. but idk why i cant squeeze the link tight enough together to give enough room for the clip.
>>
>>16372861
I usually press it several times with vise grips, left, middle, right, middle, left etc, until the slot for the clip is exposed.

get them to press the on the red outlined link with a hammer handle while you tap the green outlines link with a flat head screw driver and a hammer.
The locking clip you will be able to get on with a pair of flat nosed pliers
>>
>>16372879
if you cant get it, mash the shit out of one end until you can get the edge of the clip on, then hold the clip there and mash the other side down to help seat the plate then use the pliers to hold it from the middle so you can get the clip started properly

i fixed it, i dont know how, i didn't do anything differently. popped in the o rings, squeezed it with pliers, and the clip popped right in, plenty of room. it did look like the o rings have a shape that looks like one side has a wider diameter than the opposite, so i put that side toward the chain. i was already doing this before, and i dont think it would make much of a difference but hey, it worked.

Still haven't bothered changing the exhaust. The wheels did have a bit of a handling difference but not much since I only got the aluminum ones. I probably could've sprung and bought the magnesium ones but that just sounds like trouble with the streets around me the way they are.

Btw sato racing rearsets are really nice.

This is the best I managed to find for bimotas with the stuff you listed.

And yeah, Bimota are very rare, there is only something like 5-6 DB7 in Europe, and about the same DB8 on the market...

The whole kit was $600, IIRC I think it was like $25-$50 extra for the reverse shift kit addon. They did fix a lot of the shifting issues I had with the gearbox by letting me shorten the throw a bit.

If you want to keep the original look of the 4 flutes and still have a good exhaust, you still can buy the MV Corse RG3 (made by arrow), i had the RG4 on my F4, the sound was great, and it's still was titanium, so a loooot of weight saved (around 6-8kg, no kidding).

The kanjis just say it's broken, which is a great meme considering my speedo still doesn't work lmao.

I've already molested the bike enough that I'd feel kinda bad trying to kit it out like it was stock.

I'll probably use my enlistment bonus or something on a new exhaust. Until then I'm not too worried about it.

Hola, I used to live in CA and rode a ninja 500 for a year (put 11k miles on it)
I'm now back in #europe and I'm limited by my A2 license (as well as the shitty weather but that's another story)

I'm not a huge fan of speed and the ninja 500 was plenty enough for me. I was considering the duke 390 or maybe the rc 390, seems like fun bike, super light, cheap to run / insure, fast enough for European roads and their speed traps.

Any of you own one of these bikes ?

I'm not American, I worked in Mountain View and then went to CSULB.

I'm French but currently live in Berlin. I'll probably use my time here to road trip the Autrian Alps and come back to CA as soon as I can.

Do you wave white flags even while riding?
Most of those are forward facing, the others have been vandalized
>>

Don't you niggers have sat navs that warn you about speed cams? They have been a thing for more than 10 years now.
>>

Ye
And we use them to permanently disable them
>>

This new generation is portable and flash all the lanes, they move them every few days.
You may be able to avoid them 99/100 but if you get caught once at 50 kph above the speed limit you lose you license and potentially your bike + huge fines.

Anyways, you can break these speed limits easily with a duke 390 so I don't even see the point of discussing it.

Never understood why americans need liter bikes to feel like men, I personally ok with that, we all have the same hobby after all and people have different tastes. What I can't comprehend is the fact you need to shit on every smaller cc bikes, what's the point of that ? Your dick is bigger then what ? Who give a shit ? Can't we just have mature conversations ?

Just fuck my bike up desu.

Should I get rid of it and get another one?

Should have been a bit more weary with that price tag (£745).

It's a Yam YBR 125, 2010. The previous owner obviously treated it very badly.
