It's a catholic thing. Basically St. Christopher is the patron saint of travelers. A lot of Catholics keep a medal of him on them because it's said it will protect you from hardships on your travels.

I'm catholic so I think that's actually mad cool that a company would "look out" for its customers like that. That being said I've never really seen a real point to carry a st Christopher medal around but hey I'll take it.

Hilary won the popular vote. Trump won the college. America's system is fucked up.
So th right didn't win, because republican conventional candidates couldn't even get into the ballot due to Trump. Trump's win is an artifact of the political system, and a protest vote against the establishment mainstream liberals you put up with for decades now.
It's a bipartisan fuck you to the system. Americans broke their own country (and Trump will break it) just to flip the bird to Berkley.

What America needs is to look long and hard at socialism to replace liberal dialogue. And a new conservative movement needs to be born.

And make no mistake, alt-right is the same as cuckservative mainstream old man conservatism.

the wave rotors aren't floating. Pic related.

What is the advantage/disadvantage of a wave rotor vs a floating rotor?

The floating rotor costs $75 more. pic is in my original post.
>>
>>16353151
ah strange they worded it that way. many people refer to the rotor in this pic >>16353062 as wave rotors (that are floating).
people typically run floating 320mm rotors on supermotos. the wave rotor (fixed rotors in this case) have less surface area for braking and do not stop as hard. useful for dirt where heavy front braking is bad, but bad for street where you need a strong front brake.

i would recommend the floating rotors with the caliper relocator (if needed).

For street use a floating rotor doesn't provide any real advvantages. Typically they're lighter because they are two peice and the centers are aluminum, but the difference is marginal.

For track riding (or hardcore street riding) two piece floating rotors are far superior to one piece rotors.

When rotors get hot they expand. Witha single peice rotor they are fixed to the hub center and are constrained from expanding outward, this means the rotors are forced to maintain the same axial dimension and thus the only way they can expand is by warping (becoming wavy in the longitudinal dimension. This creates poor brake feel and reduces pad contact area if the warping gets bad enough.

With two piece rotors, the steel friction surface is not mechanically bound to the aluminum center. So when these rotors get hot they are allowed to expand axially instead of warping. This allows consistent performance even under very hot brake conditions. Two peice floating rotors are bound to their centers with rivets that partially constrain the rotor against torque forces and maintain longitudinal alignment without mechanically fastening them to the centers so that expansion independent of the center can occur.

Basically, if you want to go racing, plan on riding hard enough on the road to get your brakes really hot, or just want the trickest shit on your bike. Get the floating rotors.

If you're on a budget and plan on just streeting your bike and don't plan on riding like Rossi in the canyons single peice non-floating rotors are perfectly fine.

The "Wave" rotor is just an aesthetic design. There are no real tangible benefits, its just for looks. Race bikes run solid two piece floating rotors for a reason. They have no use for "wave" aesthetics and they want as must thermal mass and friction surface in their brakes as possible.

I have a track stand for that, how many times are you lubing your chain away from home lol. With that being said it's quite easy to lube a chain without a track stand by balancing it on the kickstand, not recommended for beginners pro lube technique only.

>leans past 50 degrees

maybe not 50 but I go far enough that the normal kickstand is a problem.

Hello guys, I have a hypothetical question. Lets say there is a 50 mile stretch of road that I would like to average 170~ mph on. What kind of considerations should I make in regards to the tires? This might sound silly but will a fresh set of tires suffice?

Also, how will my fuel economy be impacted? Will I be able to make it on a single tank of gas?

Hypothetical bike in this hypothetical scenario is a GSX-R 1000

Thank you

On the Warp9 wheels the " floating " rotor is not a floater, it's just riveted with two big washers as the buttons to hold it together. They are also only 5mm thick. They are built cheap and warp easily. The stock rotor they off is 5.5mm thick, it will hold more heat without fade and is less likely to warp. If you need a 2 piece rotor, get a Brembo/Braking/Motomaster or even an EBC , all of those are much better quality than the Warp9 apex crap.

Wheter you get a 5" rear rim is determined on your bike, some you can get a 5 in no problem, others it's a bitch.

Well good luck and enjoy it. Learn to maintain it at least, I have no clue if they even give you torque specs and all that good info in the owners manual
You could always throw a feeler ad up on Craigslist to see if anyone bites. Good on you for learning to ride but it'd suck to have your $1600 go to waste if your obscure bike decides to shit itself and you can't get it fixed, then get discouraged.
How long did you search for a 250? CL is a waiting game, took me months to find the bike I bought. Even if the ad is over $2000, some will take lower offers.

1997 DR350SE, easily had under $2000. There's street and off-road models, but it's a dual sport so it's not a lightweight dirt bike if that's what you're after. I'm in love with mine though, as are many 350 owners.

If you can track your bike every once and a while, you should have the mechanical aptitude to take a centerstand off and put it back on at the end of the day. Compared to other DIY shit like valve checks and rearset installation it's fucking trivial.

And cheaper than buying a couple of good stands and accompanying hardware to support the bike by itself instead of by its wheels (for taking them off)

2015 Yamaha R1 - Comes with a bunch of R&G protection, screen, tail tidy and 6,000 miles on the clock.

I've test ridden both of them for a few hours, and I'm leaning towards the Panigale, due to the power delivery, nimble steering and sound. However, the R1 is more comfortable, with better ergonomics and more user-friendly clocks.

I'm 6'1, and both are surprisingly roomy for me, and I won't be doing many journeys longer than an hour anyway, apart from the odd trip to watch BSB or something, or random rideouts.

What I'm asking for is any first or second-hand experience with either of them, what they're like to live with etc. They're both the same price, and the Ducati's servicing regime is only slightly higher than the Yamaha, so running costs don't bother me much.

Any thoughts? (For reference, I currently own 2 R6s and a Daytona 675R, and have racing experience.)

I tried an RSV4 Factory out about 3 months ago, but I just didn't feel comfortable on it. You can't beat that V4 sound, and I've always liked them, but I just didn't click with it, I guess.

Do you genuinely need a peter? I'd try the Panigale 899 if I were you

Yeah, I'm feeling the need for a big fat peter between my legs again. My last superbike was like 3 years ago, and I fancy a change from 600s since I've done them to death the past few years.

As for the money, I'm just lucky I guess. Currently have a pretty decent job and don't have any debts or a significant other to blow my money on.

I'd get something more unique like an RC51 or 899 like the other guy suggested. The big high revving v-twins are nice.

how do you even compare those? The 1199 is like a bazillion times more expensive.

Does HD Indian or Victory make the better cruiser for fat old men?

>>
>>16354754
I'd love a couple of older classic supersports like the RVT to take round a track and enter some golden era races, maybe when I get back into racing in a year or two. As for the 899, if I'm going to pick up a twin, it might as well be the bigger one, since I've had a few years on middleweight bikes now, and I'm fancying a change.

>>16354765
Surprisingly, they're both more or less the same price. The 1199 is £13,200, while the R1 is £12,700. I think it's probably because the 1299 came along and devalued the 1199.

The 959 is pretty sweet if you decide to go for it.

Otherwise I say get the 1199 over the R1. If it was an R1M I'd say get that.

Do you think drilled/slotted disks are for air movement too?

It means that you cant afford a real bike.
>>
>>16354802
or that R1 is overpriced.

Anyways those bikes are not in the same class, you either want a former top of the line model with italian design, passion and reliability (yes it will cost a lot more in the long run) or you want a reliable technical marvel from Japan that wont get you nearly as many envious looks.

>>
>>16354846
Good point. The R1 is probably overvalued by a few hundred.

I get what you mean. My head says the R1, my dick says the 1199. Guess I'll pop out to the respective dealers and see what they can throw in or knock off. Maybe I'll take them out for another, longer ride each and see if I still feel the same.

>>16354872
To be fair though, look at the superbike class in comparison, Kawasaki have destroyed everyone the past few seasons. I'm just waiting to see what Aprilia pull out of the bag for 2017, looks like the RSV4 might be back on top.

Good on you for getting a bike, you'll never look back now. As for anyone shitting on your choice of vehicle, fuck them. People have different tastes, different comfort zones, different levels of disposable income and different lifestyles.

For instance, taking your choice of bike, we can tell that you have poor taste, no balls, no money, and like to suck dicks in your spare time.

For real though, I'm just fucking around, good on you, man.

What's the consensus on those here? I'm not interested in a 1000.

All jokes aside, is there a reason why blacks are drawn towards GSXR's? 90% of all GSXR riders I see tend to be black.
