I have a Suzuki GS500. I like it, but having test ridden some newer/bigger motorcycles made me wish I had something else.

What are your thoughts on the 2005-2006 Suzuki GSF650 as an upgrade from the one I have now? I heard the air/oil cooling system they had made them super-reliable, but I don't know much about bikes so it may not be true.

All air-oil cooled zukis are bulletproof unless you're stuck in standstill traffic (usually no rad fan so oil overheats leading to bearing and camshaft damage). The Suzuki generally makes ridiculously high-quality engines but skimps on most other things.

You seem to love assumptions. You ignore thievery for profit including organized bike and auto theft operations which use street thieves as suppliers, and the whole stolen goods ecosystem.

I grew up around that shit and avoided it because the lure of easy money didn't overcome common sense.

A motivated thief can steal two or three bikes a day. Most aren't difficult to hotwire and locks only slow down the incompetent. A crew with a cheap trailer can load them very quickly after a swift push "out of range".

Prosperous comfy assholes with nil IRL experience make me laugh. Crime pays, often very well. There are chop shops in any town or city of size. Ebay means traditional fencing isn't required, but laundering chopped parts is easy as fuck and the rest can go to the shredder. I have bros who did time for chopping vehicles and they make up a sizeable number of salvage yard and used car dealer "ecosystem" personnel. Scrapyards check VIN on complete vehicles. A scrap dumpster of size can hold a couple of cars worth of parts including usual VIN sections. Bikes are nothing to strip and scrap. You can skin one to the bone in a couple of hours and they fit in boxes.

If you have a nice motorcycle or ATV it's a theft target. Ever wonder where those nice, unplated bikes and ATVs around darktown come from? I don't.

BTW never buy covers or use trailers which advertise what you ride. Every Daytona some idiots with Harley decals all over their trailers lose trailers.
