otherwise I'd just rather a 750 or a larger displacement bike for cruisin' and what not because I think in order to make 600s perfect for the road you want to go -1/+2 which will make them less cruisy on highways and what not.

This, does anyone else remember that time BMW made a special snow flake endurance bike while trying to change a formula that was built and developed by multiple companies over 3 decades because bmw knows best?

Then they made a terrible bike that got them laughed out of the offroad world in such embarrassment that they did not even bother trying again, Good times.
>>
>>16274005
BMW motorcycles are the best way to spend a lot of money on an overvalued motorcycle. Which, being a vehicle, will depreciate.

Sure you could spend half the money on a Japanese equivalent, but BMW has at least twenty electro autistic systems to adjust, heated grips for your uncallused upper middle class hands. It also has matching gear that's overpriced, so you can tell everyone at the office you ride a BMW.
And then never, ever ride it beyond 50% of your capabilities because you might drop it.

This is why I stick to old, shitty Japanese bikes. I can thrash them, rebuild them, drop them and my country's healthcare foots the bill. Because I don't live in a backward shithole.

Just buy an old KLR, XT, DRZ and trash the fucking thing.
>>
>>16274104
Acquiring parts and accessories with BMW isnt a problem they have a pretty robust network compared to many. But you're right that they are more pricey.
>>
>>16274104
There's no BMW dealers in my area but the dealer in my nearest city carries tons of KTMs and KTM parts. Even better is there's an online dealer stationed about 40 miles from here which carries KTM parts so I can order online and have them arrive at my house within a day or 2.

newer 600s are putting anywhere from 110-120hp to the wheel which is a bit too much power in my opinion for a beginner. this is the territory where you can loop yourself if you're an idiot.

older 600s are putting anywhere from 90-100hp to the wheel with even less torque so it's harder to fuck your day up.

they are still fast though. I think what catches most people off guard is the precision of the throttle and fuel injected system.

old gsxr or even an f4i would be cool.

Bruh that shit is worth maybe $4,000 tops. That is way too many miles for a luxury sport bike. With regular maintenance and valve adjustments, I have seen many BMW bikes go 70,000 miles before being sold so I don't know how alarming 40,000km would be

The thing is, you don't use the panniers themselves to store stuff. They're just fashion, and maybe waterproofing. You're meant to use separate soft bags that fit inside them, and take them with you when you leave the bike (they're usually set up as a set that works with or as a backpack)

>>16275451
Pannier R&D is intro to CAD tier. Thank fuck ugly cases are fashionable now. We can finally bolt office debot "safes" to our bikes and smear the inside in some sort of sealant to get the same effect.

I'd be sued if I sold shitty side cases made from other people's products and don't have the facilities to mass manufacture generic brackets to make "anything" work on the same racks as givi/monokey luggage. And it wouldn't really matter because you don't even need brackets, really, and most people who are smart enough to not fall for the "motorcycle" gear meme can do it themselves

if I did make my own generic plastic boxes I could probably manage a killer profit margin just selling them for $70 a piece in small batches

Also, ugly DIY cases are already popular with dual sport riders. Lots of bungeed-on milk crates, zip-tied toolboxes, and permanently-attached cases that were once meant for something else to be found outside of the codger segment of "adventure" (pigfat dual sport) bikes.

Hey xr anon, gs anon here.
Comuting's à bitch with the boxer nearly scraping every car that didn't let enough space.
>Tfw heated handlebars go finally through the gloves...
>>
>>16275884
Hey at least the boxer engine is effective as leg warmers.
Did you get new gloves or something?

Nah, just my good ol' vquatro, mixed seasons i think...bit of leather, warm enough for spring rides but the heated grips are a fucking blessing right now, might gonna have to get new winter gloves, i bought an old 80's pair to à grandpa à few years ago, not that efficient...
Also
>Riding with the modular helmet open to have a smoke while comuting.

I feel more german everyday.

>tfw no ashtray farkle
>tfw no coffee cup holder

I still love my 2 in one gloves for all seasons.
>good feel on the grip side
>nice and warm and dry on the other
Also they're the only thing besides >alpinestars which fits my hands properly

You can keep a pocket ashtray mounted...and get ashes and ciggy butts on your face at the first bit of wind.
Since à few days, when i leave work i'm finding the same vstrom at the same redlights... Fucker reving like we're on a track... Every green light he tries and tries....and eat my dust, only to face the other way at the next light, rinse and repeat.
Don't be mad babe, one day you'll be able to growl and shake too :^)
