Finally got around to replacing the bushings in the shitbox hatch. Also dialed in the preload correctly on the coilovers and it drives so much better now. No more snap oversteer, it's actually very neutral now and oversteer is easy to induce when you want it.

Yep that's pretty much what it is. It sucks if you look at it as a hybrid, it sucks if you look at it as a """""sports"""""" car. It is fun to drive but has huge blind spots in the rear. The interior and exterior look pretty good imo. It's a hit or miss. Make sure to get it in manual. Test drive one and see it for yourself.

No major differences. I believe the only thing they did is fix some minor bugs (if any) from the 2016 model.

I don't really care about color. I just go for what ever is that matches my preferences. Having a nice color would be a plus.

I'd go with blue if I were you. There's more white cars than blue cars.

Just did an oil change last week. Found out I can't see the /hg/ scratch some faggot made, I'm guessing the car wash buffed it out lol. I also have a gas leak since like the past two years. I scraped on some snow the first year it was lowered and it smelled like gas and the leak was formed. I never tried diagnosing it since I'm too lazy. I don't plan on doing anything to it anymore besides maintenance.

my bro is using the jetta while his he has his accord at school where he doing a bunch of body work and painting it. I wanna wait till I have the jetta back so I have a daily to run while I have the civic motor out. Also leaning towards buying rods and pistons because the cams are optimized for 12.5:1 compression. It's gonna be another 1500 with upgraded oil and fuel pumps, but I'll feel better about the build I think.
I just wanna do the valves and springs for fun and I need something to work on. I'll just leave the cover on when I'm done so it doesn't get covered in dust and dog hair.

full k24a2 is decently quick though. tune is getting pretty close and I clocked a 0-60 just a hair over 6 seconds, with average shifts on all seasons and a ton of wheel spin. I bet I could get it to 5.5 with some practice.

if you can find a head for a decent price just swap that on. Probably won't make big gains but it would be a good project while you're in school.

either that or do what I did and just wait until you finish your degree. Granted I'm a basement dweller and don't have a qt gf, but I worked my ass off for what is basically a meme degree (economics) and landed a job almost immediately after graduating making more money than my friends with engineering and finance degrees. No rent living with mom and free, unlimited tendies, each month I'm able to buy top tier parts and do the build exactly how I want. You could probably do a swap or a turbo no problem if you just wait it out. how much school left?

OK I learned some shit about headers today. Fifth gen Civic D series and Sixth gen ones are completely different when it comes to exhaust headers. I'm willing to bet that header I got would bolt right up to my old auto sedan with a sixth gen D16. Met a guy who had an OEM fifth gen header so that will do until I buy something good later down the line.

Also did a coolant bleed today and it worked great. Idle still bounces like crazy which I probably will never figure out. Also found out it's the distributor making the noise at 2000 RPM. Probably just needs a new cap and rotor.

08 Civic EX here

So I'm pretty sure head gasket is kinda fucked. Combustion gasses are getting into the cooling system and making it overheat. Problem I'm having is that there's also a small crack in the block that lets coolant seep out over time.

What should I do? Fuck it and just change head gasket or change motor since block is fucked?

Actually on a lot of cars those hexagon jobs on the front are radiator shutters, which open and close to control airflow and temperature.

The problem isn't that they aren't getting enough air, but that they are getting too much. I have the crx in the OP picture (which has very similar bumper to that comparison photo) and even with a half size single core radiator it takes forever to get to operating temperature.

Due to CAFE bullshits the cars have to have higher MPG constantly, and reducing airflow and increasing intake air temperature will give you higher MPG at the expense of engine life

Plus people think it looks good, so there's that

Engines want a minimum operating temperature. Even though they will run when really cold, you'll find that if you try to rev the shit out of it when it's cold, the metals haven't expanded into their correct tolerances, oil isn't flowing as it should and you can blow shit up.

However, modern cars only care about MPG (in america) due to CAFE regulations. This means they will run the motor lean on purpose just for better fuel economy. (Even though this is bad for engine life) They will also use thinner oil, which again is bad for engine life. They will also try to reduce the weight of the car, which is bad for YOUR life.

TL;DR
Yes, basically
>>
>>16201000
well duh. its combustion. more compression = more heat = large expansion when going from cold.

Just order. Honda dealers anymore aim for selling near or above ex trim msrp even on lower trims unless you specifically order from the sales manager or online.
This is why only one manual gets on the lots for each car type at a time every few months.

What color should I paint my valve cover? Or should I paint it at all?

Supertech valvetrain lookin so sexy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lifTVhKpEq0

>a few weeks after fixing the squeeking/blown strut mount on the p/s side, the d/s blows out
>pic related

reduced the preload/spring rate quite a bit on the front. Pretty sure I was running them way too stiff for the road. Much better now.

Blue would be pretty cool. I had my valve cover off for the first time when doing my head gasket Sunday and I didn't wanna touch any of it. Too scared to mess something up. lel

I do want to paint it red with black lettering, though. My coworker is a paint wizard and would do it for almost nothing I bet.

Ok guys story time.
>Go to advanced auto parts with dad
>Looking for smaller torque wrench to fit 10mm socket and brake pads
>Dad asks what the torque spec is on the head
>Show screen cap
>Doesn't believe screen cap
>Picks up torque wrench with minimum of 120nm
>Hes too stubborn to listen
>Go up to desk ask for front pads
>Hawks and Weaver are literally the same price with only a $2 difference
>Dads cheap and refuses to let me buy my car parts
>Wont get hawks cause he thinks they are Chinese knockoffs and won't touch anything with performance in the description
So, now i have an issue. How the fuck do i wrench a gasket with torque settings this low.
>>
>>16206302
>120nm minimum

Holy fug there are very few things in a Honda that need that much torque. Your dad is super stubborn though. I picked up a 5-80 ft/lb click type wrench at Harbor Freight for about 25 bucks.

>mom texts me saying Corolla won't start
>big fucking suprise
>tell her to whack the starter
>works

I already rebuilt that starter this year. Fuck it I'll buy another one. Tired of paying out of pocket on that car. Mom is a fucking idiot for taking an $8/hr job 40 miles away. Shes always fucking broke after bills. Pretty much dependent on me at this point.

>I quit my $13/hr job because I didn't like it
>I'm going to go back to school and collect unemployment checks
>oops I never went to school and unemployment ran out
>pls pay all my bills while I find a shitty job

What sane person does this

Yeah, I'm going to have to research a little before I do it.

For the lettering, I saw somewhere on youtube (I think MCM) where they painted the entire valve cover, then used a file on the lettering giving it this raw metallic look that I thought was bretty dope.

shingu you like the accord door my brother and I picked up from the pick and pull last week? kek

I need affordable and reliable CV axels for my 91 ED7, where do I look.
Also, how hard would it be to do with basic garage tools at my house?
>>
>>16207107
RockAuto.com is a good place for them. Pretty easy to do with basic tools. Was one of the first things I did to my car aside from an oil change.

>crack the axle nut, mine was 32mm
>jack the car up and remove the wheel

From there you can either pop off the upper ball joint or the lower one along with the shock fork bolt to give the axle room to come out. After that just use a pry bar and quick force to pop the axle out of the trans.

Just do what this guy does. Same video I used to change mine.

Moderate dems are no different than moderate Republicans from my experience. Radicals act like children though as well as the people that didn't work for their position. Also macrory trying to win in nc is fucking hilarious. Every recount he loses by bigger numbers and with voterfraud laws in place he loses even more.
>>
>>16209710
I thought you were gonna change the hg? Is your dip stick oil milky?

>>16209769
There's two kinds of Dems these days - those that run the show and look a lot like Republicans on anything that isn't women or gays, and those that say "hey, let's fix things" and get laughed at and sidelined.
GOP are all corrupt but some are also insane or just plain morons.
Hillary likely downgrade from Obama, Trump downgrade from Dubya, with the added bonus he's fickle, vindictive and kinda a douchebag. Hard to predict exactly what kind of shitshow we're in for, but so far looks like kleptocracy - basically where the establishment was going eventually anyway, but much more incompetent, more infighting between advisors, more nepotism, cronyism, more looting and pillaging of resources material, financial and otherwise. We were on the road to hell before, now we have a supercharger.

Doing something like that, you'd have to rework the suspension and find a drivetrain that would work.

Would entertain the idea of chopping an S2000 up for that. It'd be sick if you could FMR something like a BA4.

My low beam LEDs were flickering when turned off. Was fucking stumped but turned out to be a relay thing.

Fucking vacuum cap fell off the intake manifold and that was the cause of my 2000 RPM idle. I put some heat shrink rubber sleeve over it. Some fag in a beat up Chebby crossover thought I wanted to race and launched his car when the light turned green. Many keks were had.

Finally got a new cap and rotor though. Not sure if it fixed anything but the old ones were worn bad.
