Both pizza shops I worked at paid hourly and per delivery. The delivery pay only slightly exceeded cost for fuel so it was better to just spend longer doing each delivery to save fuel expense.

rear tire blowout anon here from last night

I don't have a center/rear stand to get my tires off
what's the best way to ghetto rig a stand for my bike? How do I even get my bike up on there after the fact?

I have a few 5 gallon buckets and a milk crate
It's a cb250 so it's not very heavy but it's still heavy for a single person
>>
>>16129696
Either find a way to roll it up onto the crate, or hang it from a rafter with some strong straps.
>lift the front up and slide the crate under it.
>roll the bike forward until its centered on the crate
It will take some muscle but if my girl can do it with my cbr, you should be able to do it with a cb250.

I want a bike I won't have to constantly think about not having made the perfect choice (I'm like that with literally everything)

I understand the Suzukis V2 engine has a more usable torque range, but it has 25 bhp less power than the Yamaha. I also don't like the V2 sound as much as the screaming F1 sound of the I4.

But, and it's a big but(t), I don't want to constantly rev the bike close to redline to get good acceleration in the city. So in my mind, the SV seems like the more "sensible" choice, if you get what I mean

You don't have to constantly rev a 600cc i4 near redline to get good acceleration in the city. You can keep it at like 4k rpm all the time and it will still keep up with traffic. I4s aren't slow on the bottom, they're just rockets up top which makes it seem that way comparatively.

If you get an i4 600, your top end will be 160-170 mph (260kph). If you get a v2, your top end would be 130-140 mph (217 kph) but you'll have more fun with it around the city because of the torque at low rpm. Ive had both and they are both fun but given the choice id take a v2 over a i4 for the streets because you can still keep up with your mates but also have more fun on the streets. Then again we don't have the autobahn in America so on second thought id take the i4 for the autobahn.

is it really that high on the Yamaha? I read 220 somewhere
And I honestly don't know how much city riding I'll be doing next year, as I will somehow have to commute to university, which I have done once on my current bike, which was not fun at all.
and an even more emberassing detail I forgot to mention: my mates were both in cars

I'm 18, 19 in late July and from the UK. I have my cbt booked for 21st of November, so I figured I could do that, buy an A1 bike like a YBR125 to learn on, whilst also taking motorcycle lessons to get better, and then when I turn 19 immediately do my A2 exam (without bothering to do the A1 exam) so I can sell the YBR and buy an A2 bike like the GS500. Would that be financially feasible? I am considering simply waiting until I turn 19 and not bothering with all that, but it would be good to have the transport available now and also give me some time to learn the ropes on a slowbike before moving onto something bigger. What's the resell value like on a YBR125?

Does an EFI bike need to heat up? My SV turns off when I insert the second gear at first.

Also is it normal for the SV to need to hold the clutch when turning it on? Can't do it with just the button.

I've brought it to the mech, let's hope I can use it from Friday.
>>
>>16130242
A lot of bikes need the clutch in to start, my suzuki is like this too. And do you mean the bike stalls when you put it in second?
>>
>>16130242
>Does an EFI bike need to heat up?
To some extent yes. All engines will experience expansion of parts as they warm up so they will work best once they get to operating temperature. Take it easy until it gets warmed up.
>My SV turns off when I insert the second gear at first.
Wut?
>Also is it normal for the SV to need to hold the clutch when turning it on? Can't do it with just the button.

What do you mean exactly with stalls? It's not becasue of wrong clutch handling. It just shuts off. It seems to happen only at the beginning, that's why I asked about heating it up.

>>
>>16130328
Thats odd for an efi bike. Is there any kind of mod done to it? Maybe a bad map on a power commander could run too lean. Which improves a bit as it warms up.
>>
>>16130375
Not that I know of. Knowing the owner I'd say no.
>>
>>16130338
It's easy m8, don't worry about it. Worrying about it will make you more nervous which will cause more mistakes.
If you fuck up, don't let it get to you, just handle the situation calmly and in a safe manner. I don't know how it is where you live, but if you stall the bike, so long as you restart it promptly and do your checks before setting off/manoeuvring again, they'll either let it slide or only mark you down slightly (in comparison to a panicked, unsafe handling of the situation).

Hah, not even close

I have an old XT 350 1994.
Right side flickers front and back not working. Low beam headlights not working.
Front brakes are oil free.
Back brakes can`t stop for shit.
Body panels held on with cable ties.
Spark plug got stripped, so we drilled the engine and installed a heli-coil. Couldn`t get out all the metal left behind.
Nothing on the dash works.
Tires , front and back, 50%.
Been serviced once about 4 years ago then stood for three.
Bike accelerates until about 60-70 kms and can`t go faster.
Petrol Tank has a dent on each side that reduces capacity by about 1 litre.
Everything is rusted, not much paint left on anything.
Technically still road legal until it must be tested again.

I fixed it up so I could learn to wheelie. It was my first bike that took me to work when I was 17. I love the thing but it is full shit bike. I fully expect the engine to blow with in a year. I still can`t wheelie.

is this the place to ask a question about motor scooters? I'm moving to Japan for a year and I was looking to buy one for about 3000 USD or less. I'd have to buy it there, so I need to know only about Japanese brands. I'm looking for something to DD locally to work and around town. I'd like it to look nice if possible but with my budget I don't know how easy that will be. I don't really know anything motor scooters so I'd appreciate any advice.Anyone have any suggestions?

F4i was only Honda's sportiest 600 for 2 years and it was never a "supersport" in the way the Fireblade or R6 were, it was sold alongside the RR for 4. When the bike was designed they made some concessions to being able to race it in the meantime, particularly with the "Sport" model, but they were already working on a real track supersport.

The f4I had a separated seat originally but they did away with that in later models when it was produced alongside the RR.
It doesn't have really low ground clearance. You will certainly never get low enough to scrape hard parts.
Everything else you noted was just part of being older technology. It may not have been as track focused as an r6, but the CBR600F series was Honda's older supersport model. It looks quite comparable in form to a ZX-6R of the same era, but with more modern technologies and comforts.

>The f4I had a separated seat originally but they did away with that in later models when it was produced alongside the RR.
There was originally two models, markets like America only got the sportier one until the RR was introduced, then everyone got the "base" version.

>Everything else you noted was just part of being older technology
>These are all things that Honda had already changed on their previous R and RR models
The Fireblade had a braced swingarm since 1992 and the RVFs had inverted forks in 1994 for fuck's sake. Arguing over whether it's a "supersport" is pedantic sure, since it did race in the supersport class, but it fully deserved that F designation.

For the love of God, don't learn on a scooter. I did, and when I wasn't practising low-speed maneuvers or trying to dickheadedly get a knee down, I had no fun whatsoever.

I underestimated just how much more fun changing gears is, as well as being able to shift your weight around on the bike without it wobbling to shit on its tiny tyres (unless you're extremely precise with your movements).

That said, you really appreciate how little CC's matters for distance, and any other bike you buy becomes a massive improvement.
