why do sumo riders not go knee down like on supersports?
>>
>>16127773
Because less manly
>>
>>16127773
The bikes are really tall so you have to go a bit faster to actually get your knee down. Also that kind of bike likes a lot of weight up front so it tends to work better to sit on the very front of the seat and stick your leg out by the axle.
>>
>>16127773
Depends on the corner, slow/tight, push the bike under you and get that foot out front to keep weight on the front tire. Faster, larger radius turns, hang off/knee out.

The sumo gives you the illusion of being able to go off road when in reality you have reduced the bikes off road capabilities to that of a sports bike while having none of the sport bike top speed or precision in corners while riding on the road.

Its like having the worst of both worlds.

if you do a proper drag start (revving it up let the clutch pop) no chance a sumo will win. If you do that with a sumo in first you will just loop it. the low down power doesn't make up for 70-100hp.

>>
>>16127902
It's a fine way to start, as long as you have better than average self control and won't be shit up a creek with no support system if you do crash. I look at trackdays for street riders like go karting or going to the drag strip. If you're a casual it's fine to show up and enjoy it, just don't be one of the many people who ride out of control and crash. I've met advanced group riders who ride their bikes in, but usually someone brings their other gear, coolers, etc for them. If you do it often you're going to get tired of all the extra hassles, and you'll end up with a dedicated track bike and a trailer. You gotta find out how much you like it first though. If you go, make a friend who is also going from your area so they can carry the cooler or help you get your bike home if you bust the pegs off it.

secondly moto3 (250cc) bike is still 0.5 secs faster (2 secds 0-50kmh9) and gets faster from that point on.
thirsdly a standard GSXR600 no mods does 0-50 in about 1.6 seconds, There is no stock and street legal dirt/sumo that can do that.

So to those who use action cams, are there any good, non bank breaking cams that do 2k @ 60fps or more?

I was looking at getting one of the SJcams but they seem to be angled toward resolution more than frames.

Put a new battery on the bike. For some reason the bike decided to dump all available power to the battery and not the lights, so that on the way home I didn't have anything but a faint glow from the front head light. I ended up using the flash light from my phone as it sat in the RAM mount as a light. Turning my lights all the way off helped charge the battery and brought back the rear LED light.

Your dirt bike is probably AC lights and DC battery unless you have changed the stator by floating the ground and running a trailtech reg/rec. If you have no lights and the battery is charging the AC side of your stator is toast or your wiring is fucked up somewhere.

I was being a complete idiot on my way home tonight and came within 2 feet of a deer going home at 85 mph. I slammed on my brakes, locked up the rear tire and skidded past and now I'm terrified to ride. What has fitted into me and why has my bike transformed my into a wreckless maniac? What can I do to calm down when riding?

You've been reading too much reddit so you think the rear brake is more important than it is in emergency braking.

Go and practice your emergency braking without the rear until you can lift the rear tyre off then add it back in.

It's because there's no weight on the rear tyre under braking, so it doesn't need much pressure to lock up it has no contact patch.

didn't ride today. the ABS system cut out on me earlier this week and i don't have full confidence in it for a spirited ride through the twisties. gonna replace the pads and bleed the brake lines and see if that helps. eventually i'm going to have to take an extended ride to see if i can get it to fail again (since it hasn't after that one isolated incident) and try to diagnose from there. bike's going in for some gasket or another -- NOT a head gasket, they reassured me -- so i'm going to have them check out the brakes as well. maybe it's a warped rotor or something

You don´t know what you are talking about.
The Simson S51 is the best 50cc ever build, it drives 33% faster than any other moped from stock, it gets above 115 mpg when you go full speed and over 200 when you don´t.
The motor is verry relieable and easy to repair and tune.

Sport tourers in general. Reclining will wear on your tailbone.

Just laying down on a (aftermarket padded) tank is so much better, especially if you install a higher, cushier seat that gets you more level with it

And use relocated passenger pegs as highway pegs

DR650 supermoto or CBR250RR?

The CBR makes me wet and I love road riding, but supermoto (maybe a DRZ) is apparently the greatest thing known to mankind.
Problem is, I like (and have to) ride long distances (40+ mile/60km commute daily, longer rides on weekends), and a sumo seems shitty for that. CBR might be uncomfortable but I'm young and have no back problems. Help pls

guys Im going to put street oriented tires on this dual sport and then it will be a supermoto
>>
>>16129323

It's a pigfat dualsport
A motard is a racing dirtbike with 17's and slicks
The real 250rr is a monster of a machine, definitely better than a shitty dizzer
>>
>>16129332
The 90s 4cyl one, that somehow revs to 19k without exploding or achieving lift-off

>>
>>16129323
Remember the DR, DRZ, CBR, and most other motors built for the road will put up to much more than your long commutes. Some people ride scooters around the world.

Bigger bikes that can go faster on the highway are a luxury for long rides, not a necessity.
>>
>>16129393
>underage b&?
In America you can be legally considered an adult but unable to buy alcohol legally m8.

>why would you go fast on public roads?
To become a stain and maybe a headline in the local paper I guess?

Bottom line is he's basically r/bikes personified. Goes on about how fast he is, how he's gonna glide past you on the touge with his ninja 300, etc, and then is the same guy who does some fucking stupid shit and loses it then quits riding because "hurr I'm scurred"

>>16129392
Depends on the highway, speeds encountered, and how the bike is geared. Regardless, both bikes are gonna feel like shit. The CBR250RR is gonna be a hell of a lot more fun on the street tho.

Besides, aren't eurocuck speed limits like 60mph max or some shit? You're never gonna find a 250cc bike that'll do highways decently, and you'll never find a thumper that'll do highways decent.
>>
>>16129339
>better than a shitty dizzer
Maybe on paper. Have fun exploring the woods on a cbr. Have fun worrying about expensive plastics when you drop it
>>
>>16129399
>aren't eurocuck speed limits like 60mph max or some shit?
You mean 130km/h (80mph)?

And indeed, even 500-650s have problems with highways here as most are 35kW which gives them barely any power near 130km/h
>>
>>16129399
Euro limits are 130km/h on the highway
Germany, has the autobahn and ireland and Italy don't _really_ have speed limits

>>16129402
You can explore the woods with anything as long as you're not on slicks
And chinks make plastics for anything
>>
>>16129411

Autobahn and all that should still be fine though. You just need to recognize that you're slower traffic and stay to the right/left depending.

If you really think speeding on public roads is generally okay then you're mentally underage. Speeding on the highway a little bit with the car is okay, even a Yaris Verso is safe doing 140/150.

Getting injured or injuring others, especially the last one, isn't "fun".
>>
>>16129422
Speeding by itself isn't the problem. It's speeding too much for the given situation.

A local mountain road is limited to 50kph. Sometimes cyclists can pass you if you stay on the speed limit. Corners can be done there at double the speed limit, with wiggle room remaining for brakes and while staying within the lane. Al

>Injuring others
Do you think I fly down bike paths or something? Nobody on the road is gonna get hurt by me riding my bike above the speed limit on twisty roads. Doing it through a major urban center is downright retarded and very few people are dumb enough to do that anyway.
>>
>>16129448
God damn post being sent before I'm finished.

I needed to say, it's only because some idiots can't be trusted to only go as fast as they can do safely and with consideration for unavoidable circumstances. Leaving no reserve in your grip to avoid something or brake, as well as being on the very limit of your skill and vehicles capability is reckless and I don't condone it.

Staying perfectly on a speed limit when you could safely exceed it doesn't make sense though. It's a bit like crossing the street without a marked crossing. It's illegal but if you do it carefully it isn't dangerous.

>>16129456
About 2 weeks ago a guy lost control of his bike on a corner and hit another bike coming the opposite direction. The other bike had a pillion passenger. All 3 were killed. A bike can definitely kill someone and it doesn't even need to involve a collision of your bike. Maybe another bike will try to evade yours sliding into their path and then they crash as a result? You can go fast, but be safe when you do it.
>>
>>16129450
Please tell me you're a britcuck. Or a nip.
>>16129448
How do you safely brake after a turn on a mountain road if there's an obstacle immediately afterwards when you're doing 50kmh?
A bicycle weights what, 6kg?
But you're right, it's not about respecting the speed limit, it's about the specific situation.
>>16129456
You can't know what might happen. Thinking you can't hurt others with a motorcycle is retarded, first there are other bikers and cyclists, second on certain occasions you might injure car drivers.

I'm not a safetyfag but seeing people riding in the other lane in turns, reading about people who think they can't hurt others in case of accident just because they're out of the city is too stupid for me.

If you can't brake in time, you avoid the obstacle. That's what I mean by wriggle room, I stay at a pace where if I need to I can tighten or widen the turn up a bit or in the worst case I can slow down before the impact.
At 50kph on this certain road I could very easily brake to a stop on any corner, hell I could lock the throttle and ride the whole way without using my hands (I've tried it long ago lol). It used to be 80kph many years earlier and used as a truck shipping route but there were lots of roll-overs so they lowered the limit. Then they bypassed the road with a proper highway but left the speed low.
