the real problem is that they're ugly autismo bikes in direct competition with the flowy, faggoty (and gorgeous) ducatis, mv agustas, and the like. you can have the best bike in the world but unless you're #1 USA USA USA fag you're probably just going to go with that ducati just because they're fucking gorgeous

Sure. But still just an opinion.
Harleys are the dominant motorcycle seller in the us. But doesn't make it a good bike. Just means those faggot are good at marketing

Harley does marketing? I thought the media did it all for them and kids said "i want a harley!" without ever seeing a scrap of paper with an actual HD ad on it.

in my experience it's the opposite, grom owners are usually pathologically obsessed with what they believe to the be ultimate cosmic joke, that is that they're riding a small motorcycle.

This is apparently hilarious and completely out of the ordinary even though everyone and their mum has a grom now. I would say probably 1/2 the people buy them for this outward perception that what they're doing is funny or interesting in some way and that makes them "unique".

Racing them makes even less sense to me, if you wanted to race little motorcycles I could name 10 better options off the top of my head.
>>
>>16020055

>The dumbass thinks the 1901 has something to do with the performance.

Nah, but the history is interesting.

1901 was the first, "real" Indian Motocycle (note the "r" is not missing, just not present in the correct original name) Company. Due to a mix of economic conditions and producing a flathead with a sliding gear transmission and poor suspension compared to 1950s Harley models it died. Floyd Clymer and others tried to revive it, first with imported British junk then much later with aftermarket HD clone motors. Polaris made the only serious effort and are making lots of money, but the only thing modern "Indian" has to do with the original company is nostalgia branding.

Of course the John Bloor "Hinckley" Triumphs (the best revival of a defunct name so far) are not directly connected with the Meriden Triumphs either but but that revival has both vintage and modern machine markets covered.

Italian electrics have been shit forever and CAN bus was old news in automobiles therefore engineering when they came out. Italian motor companies love beauty and performance but have always behaved as if quality control is an insult. Only Japs care about quality since BMW turned their bikes into modern German cars with two wheels.

EFI electronics on bikes lead hard lives so if you want to keep one (no matter who made it) long term I suggest collecting parts or even donor bikes. If you fall in love with a bike you expect to keep fordecades, stock up. There's only one motorcycle with awesome aftermarket support and that's Harley. If you have a salvage connection for wrecked vehicles (car dealer with dealer license to buy at Copart etc) they can hook you up with deals. Bikes sell cheap at auction unless a particular salvager wants it.

What should the clutch cable feel like? I have an FZR600 and the lever is much harder to pull than one found on a 250. Is this just because the clutch is beefier and requires more force to disengage?

>>16020812
Lots of peeps make shocks. If you are trying to return the bike to like new tightness, look at fork bushings, shock linkage bushings/bearings, steering head bearings, stuff like that. That's all dealer or partzilla. After that it's upgrade shocks from any of several makers, and forks from pretty much Ohlins and would, which are $

Riding a motorcycle is very clunky end of the day, this is the only motorcycle handling in a videogame I've ever liked and that feels like riding to me. You have to brake all the way to the apex, too much throttle runs you wide, you can lowside/highside and get it spinning up etc. so the way the races play out feels like watching a race (ie. if you run wide you can square the corner off and try and make it up with exit drive, you can be braver on the brakes and try and minimize damage on corner exit etc.)

If you made the bikes turn in faster it'd ruin the best part of the game which is that braking is really hard and really important (like it is on real motorcycles).

New rider question...

Ive been riding ~ 1month. Put 1500 miles on my bike so far, usually ride a few hundred miles on the weekend and occasional weekday rides.

Recently ive noticed pimples on my butt. Not a lot, but on both sides kinda when you sit leaned far forward and feel where the bones touch the seat. I dont really notice butt discomfort while riding.

Anyone ever get this? Is this saddle sores?

It certainly has a very friendly price tag for 11500 redline and 100HP. Seems to have a healthy amount of power even in the lower ranges. Like I said, I should get a lot of experience with it pretty soon so I can let you know how it is if you haven't made a choice yet.

you don't start with sportbikes and that ducati isn't a sportbike. start with a gs500, a ninja 250/300, or any of the other jappo 300's. your first bike is something you learn to ride on and then sell. buy banged up and used and look to turn it around within a year

Literally anything cheap that has good resale. Cost and resale are the most important part of a first bike, because you will sell it for something that suits you better.

The more well known it is as a bike that new riders want the better you are, so forget about reasonable bikes that just have a little more power if you want to ever get rid of it.

What kind of bike it is doesn't matter for this. Its internet meme status as a cool bike or friendly bike does. Want a ninja? how about a 500? Nope, you either buy the super dopey ptwin (ninja 250/300) or the screaming I4 of death (ninja 600, gsxr). Nobody buys the ninja 500 when they could have the 650 (which has barely more power) or the 250 (which is the meme bike). But if your large dopey twin of choice is an SV650 or GS500, it magically has resale value again.

Fall for the meme once and then get the bike you like and would hate to wreck later

Also be wary of crash damage and retarded aftermarket (ie: flush mount signals) because it will affect resale value more than anything

750 is one of the better bikes for it. I'm 6'2", never felt cramped on my previous 750. Mirrors are great for splitting, and it uses less fuel than 1000 and 600 (not that this fucking matters, but I have strapped a tent to mine and gotten 180miles/300kms out of a tank.

And there is nothing more rewarding than beating someone with a 250cc handicap.
