Different heads, same block. The Ghia has a 3v with VVT and the XR8 is a 4v quad cam without VVT.

Check water traps for rust. Boot, doglegs, sills, etc etc.

4 speed autos have an issue with the tranny cooler and the radiator (which is one piece in the radiator) combine and the gearbox turns to shit with coolant.

Diff bushes.

The six likes to drink fuel if you flog them while cold. You really should warm the car up for 5 minutes just to get the oxygen sensor running to allow it to alter the fuel map. Open loop is rich as fuck.

I do a 10 minutes trip to work every day and I get an average of 12L per 100 because I don't warm it up.

On the open road you get 9L per 100.

The later Ghias with the 6 speed auto do better because they do less revs at any given speed, but you really can't justify paying an extra $4,000 just for a 6 speed gearbox when everything else is the same.
