Seriously considering getting an na r33 coupe
Good way to spend 6-7k?
I'm on my Ps obviously
If you recommend something else then please tell
>>
>>15970603
Buy a corolla with a 4age for like 3k and just wait for your fulls to get a turbo r33
>>
>>15970603
I've got a 33 GTST, you'll want to kill yourself and fucking hate the car if you buy one with no boost. Go buy something small and fwd around the 100kw mark and learn how to drive quickly while you're on your p's. What state are you in?

Go for it. Cops up the bum, it isn't quick like a GTS-t, but you can get the hang of RWD in it. Once you're on full, turbo or 25DET swap it.
>>
>>15970603
i have a na supra with a straight pipe and cops have never pulled me over once.

supra will be a bit more, but consider it. it's not crazy fast in a straight line, but it looks nice and is fun to throw around in corners.

plus when you get on your fulls you can just do a conversion to make it turbo by replacing the brakes, engine and diff (it's the same chassis).

it's also unbelievably reliable.

It's like owning a GTS-t, but with none of the benefits like speed and turbo noises, and all of the downsides like cop attention and slowness.

Dunno why you'd want to do that to yourself desu.

Like >>15971503 said, go buy a decently powerful econobox (like a 4AGE Corolla, 323 SP20, SSS Pulsie etc) and thrash that about until you're off your P's.

>>
>>15972140
yea, but i figure he's going to thrash it, it can take the trashing.

compared to other sports cars which don't really approach the reliability factor of a toyota, save porsche perhaps
>>

>>
>>15972095
>"not crazy fast"

its not fast at all.
>>
>>15972151
Oh the Supra was ridiculous, arguably the embodiment of 90s Toyota. The atmo SZ trim still came with VVT, didn't it? The R33 certainly didn't.
>>
>>15972184
It's actually decently fast.

http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/213574-anyone-know-stock-non-turbo-0-100kmh-times/

He's considering getting a non turbo skyline, which does 0-100 in about 7.5 seconds (varies by driver).

The non turbo supra does 0-100 in 6.8 seconds.

Then factor in the supra has larger displacement, so it's more torque AND more power in the top end.

Don't get me wrong, the na supra is not crazy fast, but compared to other p plate cars, it's one of the fastest.

And as i said before, it has the benefit of being a great project car, since he can do the brakes and the diff while he's on his P's and be ready to swap in the turbo engine on fulls.
>>
>>15972207
What this guy said.

0-200 a na supra is going to be faster than a na skyline.

The na skyline is also a slow piece of shit compared to a GTR, but no-one brings that up.

At least the supra chassis is actually rigid (targa top is not).
>>
>>15972207
>>15972229
maybe an SZ-R,but not the regular plebian non turbo supra.
>>
>>15972265
Yes actually, the sz-R is not faster, it just comes with turbo goodies like the torsen diff.

All na supras are going to be faster than a NA skyline.
>>
>>15972277

>6 Speed vs 5 speed, and LSD diff's don't make a car faster.

P plater detected.
>>
>>15972294
not all sz-r's have the 6 speed

also, the lsd diff only really helps in cornering, as the supra does not have enough power for straight line acceleration to be an issue.

it's more a reliability thing and cornering.
>>
>>15972303
so you're telling me lsd's dont assist in launching?
>>
>>15972332
No, i'm telling you the non sz-r supra is still faster than a na skyline.

The regular supra is not that much shittier than a sz-r and all parts are interchangeable anyway.

he should not be getting the sz-r which is like 5 grand more, compared to a regular manual NA.
>>
>>15972332
>Implying a na supra has enough power to need a full blown torque sensing diff.

He'll be fine with a regular atmo supra, which he can throw the diff on anyway once he has more money. Have you seen the prices on sz-r's?

I agree that supra is the best P plater car (out of the jap cars) because once you're done, you don't have to sell it. You can improve on all it's weak points apart from the engine while on P plates and focus on handling, get a feel for the car...then go power as soon as you're on fulls.

If you are going to go for a copbait car, why not get the one that will be the most fun?
>>
Lads who has any experience with paint sealants like Opticoat Gyeon or Ceramic Pro? Worth it? I heard it lasts as long as you maintain it and looks better than quality wax.
>>
>>15972369
That was my point. If he buys a regular supra, he can spend his p plate time to do the following.

>Learn how to drive it, it's actually very capable at cornering
>Upgrade brakes, ABS module to the turbo version
>Upgrade diff to the torsen or TRD diff
>Upgrade transmission to the indestructible 6 speed
>Get some nice grippy tires and good rims
>Coilovers, control arms, sway and strut bars

There's tons of mods he can get away with to have fun making it extremely capable on corners, so by the time he's on his fulls he'll be ready to enjoy the fun of a turbo.

It's a good project car to grow, as once you're done the only indication it was once a NA supra will be the vin.

And we all know just how good a quality turbo supra can be.
>>
>>15972396
That's actually really cool, i had no idea they were the same chassis. More respect to atmo supras then.

I knew the turbo supras were actually quite good at handling, i guess that would make a great project car for a p plater, aside from being expensive and copbait.

Fuck though, wish i knew that when i was on my P plates...i went for a shitbox, but i really wanted a sports car
>>
>>15972173
It had a catback, a pod filter, wheels, springs and shocks. Everything else stock. It had a blown turbo when I got it but I picked up one from a mate for $100 and had her back on the road in no time.
>>
>>15972207
>>15972229
Please stop this, you'll give him the impression they aren't shit. You can get as much power out of a falcadore, that doesn't mean he should get one.
it's already been said by another anon, but I'll say it again; it's all the negatives of an import (police attention, higher theft rate, dagumi tax, thrashed out) with none of the positives. You're going to be disappointed by an na 33 after paying 6-7k on one and the idea of 'being ready to swap a turbo engine into it off your p's xD' is a crock of shit. You'll pay another 3k for the turbo gearbox and a decent 25det, then fuck knows how much else swapping the other turbo parts into it to bring it to spec, people often don't mention/know about the fact that almost everything was better on the turbo models. Not to mention after spending 11k on it, you'll still struggle to sell it later for more than 8k when people find out it's a turbo swapped N/A.

Here we go, another supra circlejerk.
Can you take it back to the car throttle facebook page's comment section?
>>
>>15972427
Yea, the difference is in the drivetrain (all of which can be replaced) and the brakes.

>>15972432
Did you read mate? Both these posters are saying to get a supra instead of the skyline, specifically because NA skylines are fucking shit.

At least the supra can eventually become a full fledged turbo supra, over time.

The na skyline will never ever become a GTR.
>>
>>15972441
Heaven help we give a P plater some actual good discussion instead of suggesting he gets a shit commo or a na skyline.

A supra that can turn into a proper turbo supra at the end of it is far better for the bloke, no?

Should we just go back to shitposting cunt?
>>
>>15972453
Preferably.
>>15972442
All three are shit, the supra is a meme. Why not just wait until he's of his P's to get a supra, rather than shelling out all this money for an NA one that he'll end up crashing anyway. It'll just get him harassed by cops. Buy a fun small car and get through your p's.
>>
>>15972501
He's gonna get a skyline otherwise, he's set on copbait.

Might as well get the best copbait.

Besides, the meme that all P platers are fuckwits is a bit stupid...i see so many dumb cunts on their fulls every single day doing retard shit.

4cyl versions will use way less fuel but won't be as good for highway driving. The V6 will drink a little more but you'll certainly appreciate the extra power when overtaking or just getting off the line at reasonable speed.

Again, they don't "certain areas" might not include something that's not much more than an inhabitable shed on a block in the middle of nowhere. Basically something that's relatively easy to turn over if the lendee defaults.
If you're looking at an established house in a suburban town, there's no such scrutiny. Again, I bought a 45 year old house via keystart. The only downside was an average of 1% higher interest than the banks, although that's more than offset without having to fork over lender's mortgage insurance, as long as you refinance within 5ish years.

Again, there is literally nothing wrong with starting out a mortgage with keystart. I'm interested to see why you think it's a bad thing.

If you have to get the mortgage insurance, maybe, and it's really not that much.
Lots of banks don't like taking over a keystart loan as your a riskier investment because you had to start on one. An if you havent paid enough into your mortgage they won't take it over. Also the exit fees on keystart.
> they're Good if you do this, this and this.
Could just get something better to begin with
Use a broker they get paid to choose the best option for you, make sure the bank doesn't try putt their bill on your loan tho
you could also just save 30k, it's not that hard. Reduce your outgoings. Reduce your lifestyle

First if all, this conversation stemmed from an anon who probably didn't have the deposit to avoid LMI. Which is fine, as not everyone does. From what I gather you're an independant who works in a reasonable paying mine site environment, and that's fine, although these days not everyone has that luxury. It takes a very long time to live and save $30k for a deposit unless your wage is not too far short of a six digit annual figure.
Second of all, it's very simple. If you can't avoid LMI with the banks, you're better off putting what would otherwise pay their insurers into your deposit or into "sweat equity".
Thirdly, this claim that banks treat people coming from keystart as stigmatic is a complete and utter myth. Not sure where you got that from. They take into account debt vs. equity, assets and income, the same as everyone else.

Hey AUSFags, Kentucky here.
I just want you guys to know. I'm so sorry for the passing of your Falcon.

I work at a Ford plant too, and it's just so sad seeing a product leave. I really wish I knew what the CEO and management are taking this company. So I could protest against it, but they just don't say.
I voted no on the national contract, but apparently the majority disagreed with me.

I'm so sorry for your Falcons, I'm sorry your unique powerful sedans are now going to be taken over by boring sedans and already established coupes from America.

Hold on tight.

Honest to god question, what's the allure of gauges on the outside?
Simplicity?

Trying to copy the old Pontiacs? That's cool, but why not just get some small seven segment displays and put em on your dash?

SICK AF CAR though. No criticisms.

I only recently found out that up until the VY customers could get a V8 optioned to the executive, and QLD police got VY V8 executives. Why you'd want this, I don't know, but I'm sure p-platers would love it... til they get in an accident.
>>
>>15980844
>what's the allure of gauges on the outside?
Mechanical gauges with hot ass pressurised oil do not mix well with people if a fitting bursts
>>
>>15980866

That is an exceptionally good point.
What other measurements would you want to make on a car where the gauge would be placed on the exterior?
>>
>>15980844
I think the allure is to copy old muscle cars like you said. I wouldn't do it on most commodores but they look good as on progts, it's such a mint car.

It's funny when some p plater has them on his hectic V6.

>>15980855
P platers wouldn't be able to drive them as they are registered as V8s. Yeh they look sleeper but its just a poor mans SS. They call them SV8s.

Have another photo of PROGTS
>>
>>15980870
I wouldn't, as mechanical gauges are straight 1970s tech and are generally shit.
Usual three are oil pressure, oil temp, fuel pressure.
However I run electric sender units cause you can put them where you want and fittings don't go pop

Probably not, but lots of shit isn't legal in Cucktoria unless you're a wetsuit. It'd be easier to look at some sort of 4WD rig for your Civic by cannibalizing a Honda crossover for a transfer case and going from there.

Yeah, prior to the VY that is. I guess Holden got rid of the option on the VY and introduced the SV8. But look on carsales under "executive" and "8 cylinders", there's a few. QLD Police were able to get VY Execs with LS1s and no FE2, but I'd imagine they're hard to come across.

Bodykit is actually entirely original, with the exception of the for ont fenders. They were put on the run a bit thicker rubber. And CF bonnet for the weight savings.

Cars in Excellent condition, even comes fitted with stock exhaust, (cannon style is included but not fitted).

Front and rear bumpers are only a few thousand kms old. Car came here straight from Japan via Ed Lees. Paid 22K for it in 2011. Only put 20kms since then.

Its an Autech as stated, so it does make an impressive amount of power from an NA. Its not turbo, its NA. Not everyone wants a turbo, you cant scream up near 9000rpm with an SrDet.

HKS Hypermax 3 suspension, ride height and camber and everything is adjustable. Adjustable tierods too.

Price is neg. Not that anyone on /o/ let alome /dat/ can even afford a car or has a license.
