motorcycle geometry could have something to do with it.

Body position could have something to do with it.

Bike and pic of you doing a sick lean thanks.

Keep in mind rear tyres deform under pressure due to being wider, they will run out of strip first naturally, after that they bend, observe the tyres here.

failing to execute a corner
riding with new riders its mainly not turning the bike hard enough when they pick up speed

with more 'experienced' or more reckless riders, i think its from too much throttle through the corner or braking in corner after picking up/carrying in too much speed

treating motorcycling like a joyride, don't just ride, actively practice, braking, cornering, vision, roadcraft, throttle control EVERYTHING. You need to always be trying to hone yourself into the best rider you can.

The more practice and skillbuilding you do the more confidence you'll get and confidence is everything when you ride. Bikes smell fear.

statistically the most common rider error is failing to execute a corner.

The hurt report states:
>In the single vehicle accidents, motorcycle rider error was present as the accident precipitating factor in about two-thirds of the cases, with the typical error being a slide-out and fall due to overbraking or running wide on a curve due to excess speed or under-cornering.

Here are some other stats if you're interested:

Good to know

>Motorcycle riders in these accidents showed significant collision avoidance problems. Most riders would overbrake and skid the rear wheel, and underbrake the front wheel greatly reducing collision avoidance deceleration. The ability to countersteer and swerve was essentially absent
So I should practice swerving to avoid being killed or maimed then huh

I did my MOD2 test on the 20th November last winter in the dark at about 5pm, in moderate rain and high winds. Almost got blown out of my lane while trying to 'make progress' on a dual carriageway at 70mph which was scary shit.

The horrible conditions might have made it difficult for the examiner to notice my mistakes as I ended up passing with only two minors.

I would say it's fine though as you probably won't be as unlucky as me. Rain is just something you'll have to get used to and it's not really an issue when you're riding at regular road speeds. Your instructor might have heated grips on their bikes which will help if it's cold. Otherwise just wrap up.

I have the money to blow and I am considering picking up a liter sport bike and just selling my 600 (or keeping it and turning it into a track bike, who teh fuck knows)

Anyways - what kinda bike should I be looking at? I actually hate sport bikes cause the riding position is so uncomfortable but I do want a sport bike in my collection (you can look at a person and not know anything about them. but if you see they got a GSXR 1000, you can instantly tell they throw down)

So, I am thinking a Yamaha R1. I already got every other jap brand besides Honda (lol). Might as well go full circle, right?

If sportbikes are uncomfortable, I'm going to say theres a better than average chance you are not sitting on the damn things right.

Weight on shoulders and wrists = wrong, wrong wrong. Your core muscles and your quads are what hold you up, your arms should be bent at the elbow and not locked straight like I see 99% of scportbike riders doing..

Some sportbikes are terrible regardless of proper weighting, but thats much less the case now than it was in say... 1997. TL1000R and Kawasaki ZX-7's were legendarily miserable riding positions.

I've also taken sportbikes on 500+ mile days of riding thru mountains. And also strapped luggage onto a Speed Triple and rode it 700 miles into New Hampshire.

My point being... if you are sitting on the bike and riding it properly, it shouldn't be an uncomfortable chore.

What's your guy's recommendation of a nice street bike for someone fairly new into motorcycles?

How's gas mileage compared to cars?

Look into SV 650s on your local Craigslist. Also, be ready to spend twice what the bike actually costs, or you'll end up in deep shit.
Buy a nice helmet and full gear if you can, it'll save your skin when you inevitably go down.
Gas mileage is almost always better.

I can make it about 30 minutes before discomfort sets in. At about 60 minutes, I have 6/10 lower back ache. I can relieve some of the pressure my putting my left elbow on the tank and just cruising like that but it still sucks.

By this point, my right hand starts to go numb not because I am death gripping it but just from keeping it in the same fucking position for so long.

Riding a sport bike long distances sucks.

Shouldn't be bad. I have full coverage and liability and my insurance is like 30$ a month or something.
I pay it off in six month increments though, which makes it cheaper with my insurer.
Your best bet is to go for your Motorcycle Learners Permit, assuming you have your full Drivers License.
You don't have to take a driving test at the DMV that way, it's just a 25 question test that isn't that hard. The only restriction on the permit is no passengers, which for me doesn't matter ;-;

Honestly, I would just go by your DMV and ask about the permit and pick up a Motorcyclist Handbook, study that for a week, then go back and get your permit.

Has pretty much new everything, including a completely rebuilt engine and it's HPI clear (hasn't ben crashed or stolen)

Bikes are not rational purchases. In the end, buy what gets your dick hard. Buy what makes you walk out to the garage at random hours just to fucking look at it and say "Goddamn, that fucking thing is MINE."
Because if you don't feel that way, you bought the wrong toy.

It had a flexi-flyer frame and oddly sized wheels. What you want to do is stick that square 4 into an Aprilia RS250 chassis, after giving the RG500 motor a proper going-over to elevate it from the "had less HP than my TZ250" stock level to a healthy 115 to 120.

...god I miss 2 strokes.

I had that vintage ZX7. Mine was the all black version. Akrapovic pipe, rejetted... small ignition advance and she put down 119 at the tire on the same day a similarly modded ZX7 put down 109. That other guy was not happy.

Long reach to the bars and tight peg spacing coupled with a WIDE tank. Classic superbike. Hard as hell to wheelie due to the weight and wheelbase but cornered like a train.

I probably swapped it at the dealer for something else. I think that might have been the time I got a YZF1000. Which I ended up lodging underneath the back of a Mazda a few weeks later after someone brake checked me during a wheelie.

I doubt I kept a bike more than 3 months back then, and sometimes I ended up buying the same bike back once or twice.

? lmao lemme get this straight youre gonna pay another 500 pounds or whatever it is to take the test at 24 LMAO, when did u first get ur a2 lincence? i wanna laugh
>>
>>15918727
Yes, but depending on location... there can be a lot of debris on highways. Roads here where I live in burgerland are why I have a 690 Duke as my streetbike these days.

When I was young and dumb, they had just built a school near one of my friends houses. The bus corral up front was like a perfect oval track, so we used to take our R6's there and try to drag our knees whilst wearing jeans.

Just beware of *brand new* pavement, as there are still too many oils that need to disperse. Several months oldish is about perfect for being a fool in a parking lot. Just make sure there are no curbs, concussions aren't all the fun they're cracked up to be.
>>
>>15918740
not paid anything yet

I'm wondering whether to just do the A2 right now or wait till I'm 24, which is forever away.

Diffferent anon, but ny lessons & tests cost me £830 + £2,000 for bike and £200 for insurance. Shit's a fucking scam.
>>
>>15918824
Theory is like £20. MOD1 is like £30. MOD2 is like £40.

Where are you getting the £500 figure from? Obviously if you fail one you only have to repeat that one. Don't be shit and you won't fail any of them.
>>
>>15918749
Sad but true. If someone could organize the all bikers to completely disregard shitty motorcycle laws, it might work -- what are they going to do? Chase a bunch of people they can't catch? (I'd like to try it, but I live in murica and that would be used against me.)

Does Norway have an EU type of system?
Not that England would change its laws to be like Norway.
>>
>>15918835
the motorcycle school puts you through an intensive course over a day or two or something teaching you how to ride the bike. Because I'm not allowed on anything above 125cc unless with an instructor riding behind me, but the test must be done on at least 39bhp or something.

Basically, its one huge fucking scam set up by the government to try and phase 2 wheelers out of existence.
>>
