Got a running dr big around the house now. Took it for a ride yesterday, comfy as fuck but still very rough around the edges when it comes to shifting/clutch/throttle/sound. The cam chain tensioner broke during a ride with the previous owner, which really fucked shit up in there. Bent valves, damage to the piston, broken chain, and some more. That's all out of the way, though, after a 30 minute ride I turned the bike off, and smoke was coming up from the engine, between the steer and windshield. No smoke is coming from the exhaust when it's running, not even when the engine was still cold. I'm thinking something might be up with the valve seals. Anything else come to mind ?

How do I get over my fear of my motorcycle? I took the msf course and i road a scooter before, before, but i crashed taking a corner on the scooter, and developed apprehension. I bought a gs500 on Monday, took it for a spin yesterday. Hot shit it was intimidating. It doesn't help that i live in the hills, and all the roads, and i mean ALL ,are either super winding, steep, made of slippery concrete , or fucked up asphalt, or some combination thereof. I felt somewhat terrified the whole time. And there's ALWAYS someone around. I don't like being passes by priuses taking the corners faster than I can. I felt several times the sensation that i was going to run wide. I didn't, but it felt that way. It feels like the bike is in control, not me, and that I'm being pulled around by it, it feels way harder to shift my weight around and control the bike compared to my scooter or the 250 at the course. My accident makes me realize that ONE tiny mistake can leave me fucked up. I stalled several times, and almost dumped the bike. Is this normal? Should i just try to find a quiet neighborhood in the city and cruise around?
