First for Ninja 300 best bike
>>
I adjusted the clutch cable on my bike so it catches a lot earlier and holy fucking shit is this amazing.

I don't know why factories don't do this stock. I brought it in at least a full inch and my take offs, shifting, and rev matching are all so much more smooth.

You guys really need to do this if you haven't already

Hey guys

Why would I be trolling?

I don't know if it's actually good or bad for the bike. The user manual says to give about 2mm-3mm of slack when measuring and I do about 4mm-5mm so it's not that bad. Some people do 15mm

Hey /dbt/, I've been looking at Ninja 250's for years now and know a shit tone about them from watching countless Youtube videos and literature. My father works with a mechanical engineer who specializes in motorcycles and has been on two wheels his entire life and I have been in contact with him for a while. He says that in his opinion for a me, a new rider (although I have taken the MSF course), he recommends the Suzuki SV650.
I was hesitant at first, but I found one on CL that looks nice. I don't know much about them yet, but I've been doing a lot of research and I am just about ready to buy my first bike in the next few weeks.
Is the SV650 going to be a better choice than a Ninja? What is a good price? Here is the post in question https://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/5666549046.html

The ninja 250 was my first bike and while I don't necessarily regret it, I do wish I had started off with a different bike.

Contrary to popular opinion, it's actually a pretty fast bike (especially if you get a sub 2008 model with the 40hp engines). The SV650 is faster, but not by much - and as a beginner, you aren't even going to be able to properly utilize any differences in speed/acceleration.

The ninja 250 is easier to maintain/work on so you'll learn a lot about motorcycle mechanics by doing so. It's a small ass bike that weighs little and is low to the ground so it's easy to ride and manage. If you're a short guy, then I would start with the 250.

Other than that, it really doesn't fucking matter. You're going to want to upgrade either bike after a certain point. I would have stayed with the 250 longer if it were a SV650 or maybe a KLR (which you should also check out) but it wouldn't have changed the end result

tldr: doesn't matter. get the ninja if you're short
>>
Speaking of which, how am I supposed to get slip on exhaust(s) for my 2005 EX250? It has two fucking exhaust pipes (one on each side)

So my 1098 is going into a build over the winter here in aus I'll be slapping in chain and sprockets going down 1 tooth on the front to make it more friendly at slow speeds a new 300CCA 23AH lithium battery, mofset VR, uprated battery terminals to the starter and fixing up miscellaneous bits like the shifter and radiator, also getting tuneecu and cables to play around with the map and save it just in case too.

I know a mate who went that route and it was a big pain, supposedly LiFePO4 is the way to go for automotive purposes if you are though.

I dunno it just doesn't seem to be worth the weight savings for a road bike.

>>15469163
I don't think so, they're spacious enough.

as a 6'2 bloke I can say the SV650 is a great size though.

I don't know if I'd say "good". Better than Bilt or Sedici but nowhere near the quality of a Shoei or Arai
>>
>>15469287
More than happy to fuck around with the battery, it'll be a shorari one motorcycle specific so not a bang up job, the 1098 is known for needing a lot of CCA and having to be placed on a charger when not riding even now with its 220cca lead acid it's a bitch to start and can drain the battery quick as anything and you can't leave it for 4 or more days without a charge.

I'm not a racer so it not being that impressive in WSBK/BSB doesn't affect me, wouldn't be a track bike.

I would in general prefer a japanese bike just for simplicity and reliability but the S1000RR gen 2 would make a sick streeter litre.

For a very long time BMWs weren't cool with young people and older people tend to have big bikes, that's just how the world is.

In 2001/2 and 2005/6 the gsx-r1000 was head and shoulders above it's competition, ESPECIALLY 2001, it had 20 hp more than the nearest competition.

therefore, people wanting "Da fastest" bike would buy a GSX-R1000.

The current equivalent is the S1000RR.

I don't even like wearing flip flops in situations that warrant them (beach, pool, water parks).. they're just uncomfortable for me. I can't imagine wearing them while riding a motorcycle.

Hell, I did a bit of squidding around the neighborhood today just to get the engine warmed up so I could change the bike's oil and it was really weird feeling the footpegs on my feet through my tennis shoes.

I bought a 95 KTM 400 RXC off a coworker for $50
Bike came in a bucket pretty much, after reassemble and about $200 in newish parts, the bike runs and rides.

electrical system works fine off the battery.
I ended up finding out the flywheel magnet is cracked.
Holy fuck they are hard to find.

I was supposed to be hitting that beach when the tide was most of the way through going out... The tide chart website I had planned the trip around was fucking wrong and I arrived as the tide was high and still coming in................... 5 miles of riding through bottomless sand and 2-3ft deep mats of seaweed with a HEAVILY laden bike, 3 drops, near 100F degree temperatures.......

It was supposed to be an easy 20mi ride on clean packed sand. I turned around after 5mi and 2hrs and slugged my way out of there. Wearing full gear I was pretty sure I was gonna have a heat stroke.

At the farthest point I reached I still believed that the tide was gonna go out so I stripped down to my underwear, found an empty 5 gallon bucket that had washed up, and sat down near the water with my feet barely touching the surf. 30 minutes later the surf was coming up to mid shin and I had to abandon my plans to ride through McFaddin.

They're surprisingly good street tires for a DR650, they're readily available at a lot of shops (READ: they are your only choice if you're looking for a DS tire in that size), and they're pretty damn cheap.

He told me he wanted to use his Ducati track bike, but it was in the shop, so he just brought his tourer so he didn't miss the day. I remember thinking how shit it was and how slow he would be.
Until he went around the outside of me on one corner with a trial of sparks following him...

As long as it has torque to match the weight it's not hard at all. It's not like you're using brute strength to hold the bike up in those corners. It's all engine to turn.

My bike is topheavy as fuck on a full tank and even then once it's moving you just use the throttle to stand it.

Twice as many wheels.
Complicated steering.
Larger engine.
Typically a large seat and driver controls.
Larger exhaust.
Driveshafts.
More bodywork.
It all adds up, but many karts are actually lighter than a lot of bikes. Put a liter+ engine in a super-kart and you'll have an extremely dangerous beast of a kart with weight around a bike but it would very hard to drive.

Nah, it's just starting. I'd gladly drop $13k for an 1190RX if my insurance wouldn't rape me for it. The new ones are going very much in the right direction, but I feel like Harley fucking over buell with the blast and other bikes like that kinda tarnished the reputation so people are kinda hesitant to buy them. More people need to support the company for it to actually build any name.

Yeah? They have been since like 2014. They reformed under EBR and aren't using shit sportster engines anymore with harley axing any good ideas. The 1190RX makes 185hp, shits on the paningale, gets 60mpg, looks good, and uses a rotax engine that isn't shit for $13k. The 1190SX does all the above in a naked bike for $10k. Everything is perfect to buy new right now.

Same. Apparently the service writer at my local MV dealership has one as a track bike and the guy absolutely raves about it.
>>
>>15471301
Holy shit now I remember it being called "asshole", lel.
I still play it with my sister occasionally. At my school we had the rule that the person that got you could keep punching you in the shoulder until you said "thank you".
Which made it painful for newbies.
> guy makes asshole gesture
> newbie looks
> guy starts punching him in the shoulder
> "just say thank you m8"
> newbie is scared because guy is punching him
> scared that if he says thank you, he'll be ridiculed and hurt even more
> so he doesn't say anything and keeps getting punched
Fun times.

Also the "slapping game".
> sister and me facing each other at arm's length
> take turns slapping each other in the face; whoever started got to choose the strength of the slap, the other player could slap him back without repercussions (so there's always an even number of slaps)

Or "butt boxing".
> stand facing away from each other
> bump butts into each other's
> loser is whoever loses their footing first
> tactics include "boxing" rhythmically, then skipping one so the other braces himself, leans against a "punch" that never comes and stumbles

I never knew about that drawing until I came to 4chan, I guess that one's only common in the US, or at least the anglosphere.
>>
>>15471356
That's really, really cool. I wish they would advertise better. It's always been a mystery to me why there aren't really any American race bikes.

>no ABS
