There has been going a lot of debate on which plan to exactly take, we have people on both sides saying they want to do Galveston and those that don't. There are a few straw polls in the previous threads that you can find to vote on.

With all that's going, please try to be respectful to each other and have an open discussion. Never forget about our beginnings. Regardless of that, THE NEWS:

- Night Wave the song and music video: >>15461003

- There are a few voting systems that have been proposed

- Gun sock for sale >>15458325

- E30 rides the west, coming back soon >>15466132

- Night Wave font is still being decided on

From turbo snail since his IP is banned:

I joined this group because of unity, all the fighting or that was in the previous thread doesn't need to continue and is off putting to me and other new people and is destructible to itself. Can that be taken out of /hou/ threads and just remain about serious discussion and making decision without flaming each other, making strawpollls and constructive criticism. That's just my personal opinion on the situation that erupted on the past few threads.
>>
>>15468456
You brought the disagreement from 4chan to zello.
>>
>>15468427
I really like this one.

It's a shame about the color on the back, but I suppose it fits the aesthetic.

t. Aggie
>>
>>15468494
And abusing the authority Dagumi gave you in this fashion is exactly why you should have absolutely no leadership in this group.
>>
>>15468509
What color would you prefer? I chose orange because it has a nice contrast with black, there are a few other more aesthetic options that will go good with black such as cyan and violet.
>>
>>15468509
I like the orange. Guessing you want maroon?
>>
>>15468514
>>15468525
Honestly, I think cyan would be rad.

Even better would be a combination of cyan and violet.

Maroon wouldn't fit the aesthetic, but I am admittedly adverse to wearing orange.

Let me repeat, you brought your petty personal vendetta from the thread to our comms. Your ban has expired. Use zello wisely from now on.

I'm curious as to how they'd actually look IRL on the shirt.

I think IRL the Cyan and Orange one will look best, I will try to make the violet one a bit brighter or make it pink for more contrast. Will post a more 80s design later on as well.

I got a forum and a web client for an IRC chatroom set up.

This way we can post and discuss routes, meets, et cetera without having to backtrack through previous threads or deal with the limited discussion capability of a wiki.

http://hou.haruha.ru/forum/index.php
>>
>>15468785
We already have 4chan and Zello, you tried an IRC before and it didn't work because there is no point for that. Appreciate you putting it but it's just that... what's the point

>discuss routes, meets, et cetera without having to backtrack

You can just do that by linking previous threads or saving images or doing an archive search, not a big deal. Most of the discussion SHOULD be here, not somewhere else.
>>
>>15468794
Going back through previous threads to find a map that was posted a month ago is a pain in the ass, and the forum will allow us to contact each other in a much more direct way than 4chan will.

Zello isn't really a viable method of communicating outside of runs because almost nobody is ever on it aside from those nights.
>>
>>15468785
Thanks. Do appreciate this.
>>15468794
Yeah, nah. Don't feel like going through all those threads and stuff.
>>
>>15468804
But it's not a pain in the ass, all you have to do to is a screenshot or link to archive.. I don't see what the issue is desu. Also this way people can actually see a discussion happening for everyone to bring input to it.

> almost nobody is ever on it aside from those nights.

Not true at all, there are usually at least 4 - 5 people on it all the time. It's an easy app to use, you can send messages, pictures, voice chat. Having an extra thing to have on doesn't seem to be worth it.
>>
>>15468804
>>15468825
It's true, there are always some people on Zello
>>
>>15468835
But always the same people. Not useful if I need to get in contact with say Dracula or Butthurticus.
>>
>>15468857
You can still contact individuals on Zello -_-
>>
>>15468857
If you have a steam, I'm on it, and I lurk this thread frequently.

I just try to keep my applications open to a minimum since it drains my battery.
>>
>>15468869
Also you can send private messages, and their alert is loud as fuck. I'll always notice those.
>>
>>15468869
But that's not the point. If you had an account on the forum, I could send you a PM and it would probably send you an email notifying you.

That way you get contacted and save your battery at the same time.

If there was any voting session, honestly will for vote them. They pretty much do most of the work. GS didn't even ask money for the stickers or glowsticks, same for Dagumi. SC has been taking photos and has been doing promotion stuff. They seem to know what to do and it's working. I don't have much time to scout but they found some pretty good areas that I have enjoyed so far. They seem to be the choice in my mind.

Anonymity, privacy, and security are the first wave of criteria.

I don't get the aversion to phone numbers though, there are so many ways to register proxy numbers. I registered with Telegram using a number that's in no way connected to my identity.

TextNow, Viber, GrooVeIP, these all give you working numbers for free that don't have to be associated with you.

I joined up so quickly because i saw how much fun could be had with the fairly friendly atmosphere and the unity involved with it. I would like the arguments and such that are not at all constructive like last thread to kindly be taken out of the h/o/u threads as it isn't conductive to a growing family.

Were here to share experiences, meet friendly faces, drive our cars, take over the city, and at the end of the day pat each other on the back and hop in our rides to blister off into the sunrise.

The recent hostility and bickering has really put me off wanting to even speak to some of you and that hurts my reason for wanting to be part of such a great crew to begin with. Constructive banter and decision making with a couple disagreements is fine, but why it has always escalated to people getting entirely too bent out of shape about it, i have no clue.

TL;DR
Keep the flamos to a minimum or you're going to scare potential brothers and current ones away, effectively stunting and destroying what you have already built.

The posters match with the previous thread, strawpolls were posted in last thread. Most people are not interested in mini meets, so I'm guessing that's why they are lower votes.

It's all right man, this won't happen again. Sorry you had to deal with that shit but apparently some assholes were just trying to ruin everyone's mood. We'll continue on with what was going on with /hou/ however this time, will have to make some things official. Didn't really want /hou/ come to this but there's always gotta be someone to ruin the fun. C&C, mini meet, the recent run and all the meets that happened before you came were also fun for the reasons you mentioned. It was just a bunch of /o/tists wanting to drive together and talk about cars with each other. This is what some people don't get, /hou/ is about having fun as a group. It's not about bossing around or who gets to make decisions or just lead something, it's about doing things together making it a place like no other. I'm starting to see how /hou/ is changing for the worse but we'll make it back to what it was, a real driving experience and a real hero.
>>
>>15469922
Buy what? They're facts. The Strawpolls were posted in the last thread, and other than the Fast and Furious meet, all mini meets have had significantly lower turnout than standard major meets.

Not even the guy you're replying to, but nothing posited thus far has been implausible.

With you all the way. This constant stream of bickering that's happened since the fourth meet has made me question my involvement. I didn't sign up for this. We made it the first 6 months of this group relatively peacefully, and we were starting to make significant progress.

All these petty quarrels, feuding, and dirt-kicking are really off-putting, not only to me, but to all the lurkers who take the time and consideration to decide if they want to join or not.

Everyone vying for control or power over this group as it becomes more organized are an affront to the original values this group was founded on. It's shallow and beneath us.

But if those who feel worthy enough to put themselves before the group continue the way they have, then they can enjoy their own company.

It would be against the nature of 4chan to have a concrete leader. I have always seen gs, sc, and dagumi as informal leaders just because they are usually leading the pack of cars during meets and supplying glowsticks and stickers out of their own pockets. I don't think we should have set in stone leaders, but some people should have more say over others. This entire debacle happened because a decision was nominated and passed with most of the group at the meet not present, which is why there has been such an outrage. Hell, people during the meet were even joking about how things are decided a few threads ago therefore nothing can change and then the same thing happens again.

Don't blow drama out of proportion and calling each other fuckheads. Be reasonable.
>>

On that note, I'd be happy to take a more active role in management if there are no serious objections. Most of it would be delegating tasks and things like, "If you suggest a route, you must be familiar with it, on Zello, and able to lead."

I disagree with that; if I wanted to, I could sell my Excalibur and DeLorean and go buy a Hellcat. I'd literally only have to sell half of the cars I own to do so.

I'm also constantly resisting the temptation to sell off a few cars and buy a Viper or a ZR-1 Corvette, but that's another matter.

Obviously your stable of rare cars beats a Hellcat by a huge margin, but even with one of your cars the rest of ours probably don't add up to the price of the Hellcat.

What I was trying to imply is that, even if you DO have a flashy and expensive car, you won't be looked down upon for having one as long as you're not a dick about it; even then, it'd be the actions of the person that's being judged.

Heck, if anything, I'm sure most would just love to see the car and hear about driving impressions. I know I'm personally afraid to drive one because I don't want to sell my cars and buy a new vehicle and I suspect that I'd have a hard time resisting one if I ever get behind the wheel.

What about a 240z with an I6?
>>
>>15470499
Yes; I got to drive a base 2008 Viper. I didn't think it was that heavy; it was similar to the clutch in the DeLorean; though, supposedly, that's also a heavy clutch.

I'm probably not the best gauge for clutch weight as a lot of the '40s and '50s cars I've been accustomed to driving had what would be considered exceedingly heavy clutches.

It is notably heavier than the ZR-1's clutch and staggeringly heavier than the clutch in a newer BMW; if that helps.

The time and the day will most likely be the same as before, this meet will be a bit more like the 610 loop the one where we did the run and right afterwards went for some activities. Straight up no bullshit meet, we do this, do that, and that and call it a night. Sticking to the basics this time. When we did the 610 loop if y'all remember, it was such a nice event because it was quite a basic one, the travel distance wasn't much so we loads of time for activities and everyone knew the plan.

It will be on August 19th (friday) at 8PM most likely because people just want to hang out right after work and chill out. Meeting spot will be the usual DnB just like before and since the Dagumi circuit is actually pretty close to DnB we'll have a lot of time on our hands to do more activities. Also for some this might be a "Deja Vu I have been in this place before" moment, but it's been a long time since that has happened as a crew. On the bright side it leaves us with more things to do.

When the sun sets, the night comes and unleashes us and a wave of cars start to take over the roads. We do this right, the old way, the best way. /hou/ strong /hou/ family
>>

We had been discussing things at the Valero in Huntsville; there was a consensus reached by those in attendance to have the meet start in Galveston and focus on cruising to be fair to those who live on the south side of Houston.

I want to discuss this further, in person, at a mini-meet in the next few days.

And yet it started some 50 miles from the beginning of the run.

You've been caught red handed. You may as well quit while you're ahead. You can't just fix a vote and then suddenly change all the plans on your own as though you've had the new plan prepared all day.

Heck, we had a consensus at the D&B that there would be NO MORE downtown meets in the stupid high-traffic areas that are beleaguered by construction, traffic, and a lack of parking. The D&B may have had a large lot, but the police were all over the area and the security guard kept hassling us.
>>
>>15470856
>Can we all at least agree that if we're deciding date, time, and location, it should be done in person?
Oh, there's absolutely no question about that now.

They've been going on about how locations have been chosen by the polls this entire time, and now we just witnessed them fixing the vote in real time and hijacking the meet not an hour after.
>>
>>15470851
>caught red handed
It doesn't work that way, make a proper argument friendo. There have been so many meets which were across city, DnB is just a good spot because it's near the highway both ii10 and 610., large parking space, near many places for food. It's just the perfect spot we have so far. But let me guess, are you the guy who just complained all the time but actually never mentioned a decent place to meet, since meet 2?
>>

Cold Springs,Huntsville; still, my point remains.

The D&B is NOT a good spot to meet up. The Bucc ee's in Cypress, Baytown, or Pearland would be better. They're a lot better choice for a meet-up, as they're open 24-hours, have food and snacks, have plenty of parking, and a bunch of cars congregating there isn't suspicious.

I'd suggest a BWW for our next mini-meet, but I like carrying my pistol.

The non-tampered with straw polls I posted earlier showed that people want to do the next mini-meet at the Main Event in Webster, though the vote was split 5-5 on whether to do it on the 29th or the 5th.

Considering the events of tonight, I'd say that the 29th would be better.

Personally, I won't be able to attend an event on the 29th; as I'll be moving a car from Boulder, CO to Tuscon, AZ until I get back the morning of the 31st.
>>
>>15470946
What's dumb is that you think repeating the same thing over and over even though it has nothing to do with the actual issue is going to work.

It didn't work for Marco Rubio and it won't work for you.

Generally when people hit rock bottom they stop digging, but you just keep going deeper.
>>
>>15470954
We can probably change it to the 31st then, since the voting on the date was fairly inconclusive to begin with.
>>
God damn, ladies, just shoot each other already. I'd have more fun filing the police report than listening to any more of this.

sounds good to me, we could even make it enjoyable by doing hotdogs at one of the little grills. A 20 pack of beef franks (no ((hebrew)) nationals, a sack of 3 dollar shredded cheddar, some mayo/mustard/relish/whatever anyone wants to bring, some napkins and a pack of water.

That's a maximum of like 25 bucks if you buy the fancy brands.

5 people show up, 5 bucks a pop to the guy who bought it all or if people want to bring it individually, one guy can get the dogs, one guy some condiments, and another guy get the cheese and hotdog buns. maximum like 6 bucks a person. Could be fun! Also if u don't wanna be smelly, wear something comfy and cool.

Just an idea boiz, don't flame me for wanting to put wieners in my mouth with other guys doing the same to themselves.
>>
>>15470969
Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind.

Fortunately for Lyin' Ted Cruz over here, I've seen the inside of a Texas prison and it's not somewhere I'd like to live.
>>
>>15470967
If that's the case; then, great. I'll personally call the Main Event tomorrow and reserve a conference room for us. Is 3:00 on the 31st alright?
>>
>>15470993
I have no problem with that.

Yes. Do it. Hurry, before we get into another thread-long debate about details.

>>15470997

Alright. That gives people 11 days to arrange to be off for a Sunday afternoon. I'll be driving down from Huntsville, so, while it's an inconvenient location for me, it is a great opportunity to scout it as a rally point for a potential Galveston cruise event.
>>
>>15471015
The Texas City Buc-ee's is probably our best bet for the cruise.

No shortage of parking, plenty of food, clean bathrooms, and impossible to miss from the Gulf Freeway.

ACTUAL PROGRESS
>>

It's also right next to FM2004, which is the beginning of the actual run itself if we go with the plan to run down to Surfside and then back up the island.

I come back to this shit storm and see all these posts. All you just want to see /hou/ break don't you. Ripping it apart piece by piece, it seems like none of you care that we are a family, this is not going to be welcoming experience to newcomers and I for one am real disappointed and tired of y'all. Everyone is just saying different things, why was this never an issue before? Because a few people worked together and got a plan rolling, but this time instead actually discussing it with others, someone decided to do it all by themselves and not even give a chance to everyone to talk. Good job for destroying /hou/ the one place where /o/tists could feel better.

It's a fairly nice place and is close enough to Butthurticus that he could come too.

Oh. Carry on, then.

One for business, one for pleasure.
>>
>>15471021
As a starting location, I completely agree. I'd think that ending at the Main Event; since it's literally down the street, is also feasible and perfect for a day run; ending at a bar or allowing those who want to come only to socialize to meet at a place that serves alcohol.

Though, we will discuss this further at the next event.

>>15471025
If I have to actually step in and start taking a leadership role, you WILL see progress. I wanted to avoid that, but I don't think that it will be possible.
>>
>>15471078
Well, before the current round of shitstorming, someone suggested that we can latch on to the Houston Streets run some time.

Turns out that they meet at Kemah in the Home Depot Parking lot on Saturdays, which is just about where I had originally mapped the ending in the first place.

I think it would be neat for /hou/ to crash a bigger car meet at the end of cruising the islands.
>>
>>15471065
>>15471070

Yes; the meet on the 31st will be for business. I'm all for a park mini-meet as well. Clear Lake Park would be a fine location as well; assuming that the parking situation is agreeable.
>>
>>15471089
There's also the suggestion of adding our own event to the Houston-Streets calendar.
>>
>>15471106
Let's hold that option until after we've rolled up on their car meet and introduced ourselves.

Date, time, location. Anything else that happens will happen, but we'll be keeping minutes of the meeting.

Their meet starts at 6:00 PM, so we could easily conclude our driving at 4:00 and head over there at 6:00 after we get a bite to eat and something to drink.

More details to be discussed on the 31st. If you want to have a vote
>>
>>15471145
Let's decide here instead then.

Who wants an election to be taken place? As in, who wants /hou/ to have someone to lead?
>>

The whole point of the business conference was to decide things where people aren't hiding behind socks.

A good, functional park right near Clear Lake and Mud Lake on both sides of NASA Parkway.

On the land side is mostly baseball/soccer fields with a privately booked pavilion and senior center. Lots of parking over here great for corporate events (at the pavilion) or youth league. A small park is adjacent with some limited playground and picnic area. And a small pier.

On the lake side there is a new water play area that always seems crowded in the summer. Very limited parking on that side, also playground equipment and another private pavilion for events. A very large parking lot for boating and public boat ramp is also present. On this side is also a rec center (seems like every week is a pottery/plant show), also a voting center for elections.

All in all, a very functional park. As a runner, I wish there were better running areas. Limited parking on lake side and limited functional equipment on the land side kind of limit this park's capability. With the water play area, I could see this as higher ranked by those with kids. Also high with boaters for the launch area.

>Limited parking in most areas. Crowded during summer. fug.

Parking won't be an issue if we get there early enough.

One major advantage of Clear Lake Park is that the proximity to the water will help keep temperatures bearable.

Let's have a meet at Bear Creeks or Cullen in a few days.
>>
>>15471193
Isn't Bear Creek park still kind of Shrek'd from the flooding? They only recently re-opened it.

>>
>>15471193

>>
>>15471165
This. If you want to have your opinion heard, be at the Main Event on the 31st. If you can't make it, get your opinion to someone who WILL be attending.

It's also a great way to weed out the NEETs that post but don't attend the events or actually want to contribute anything positive; if you can't spare a Sunday afternoon over a week away or figure out how to get your opinion heard there, then you're probably not contributing. There will also be a period where we open up the discussion to Zello; though, that will come AFTER we rough out plans.

The meeting on the 31st will be as follows:

3:00 - 3:30: Everyone arrives
3:30 - 4:30: Discussion of /hou/ and events
5:00 - 5:30: Open floor for Zello comments
5:30 - 6:00: Conclude meeting, finalize plans
6:00 - ?:00: Main Event shenanigans

*Times tentative to actual needs and discussion length.
>>
>>15471213
I used to kill time there after work in the mornings before heading down to the ballpark for an afternoon game.

It's pretty nice.
>>
>>15471220
The Zello addition is a good idea. Anyone who can't attend can be heard the way business meetings would be held over speakerphone. Good compromise for all.

>inb4 "what about people who can't use Zello"

>>
>>15471220

>>
>>15471193
I mean I'm partial to bear creek or cullen, but that's simply because im closer to it as is people like dracula, dagumi, and SC. I don't mind either place. Cullen park is more of a rec park, bear creek actually has neat places to park on the grass or dirt n stuff and some pavillions and a creek to catch fish in if someone brings a pole and some shrimps.

It's whatever I'm up for both. If we can just get a census of anyone who would like to join the hotdog party mini-meet, please say you'd like to come. We can tally the people and get general locations of where everyone is coming from, and if nothing else i can go pick up butthurticus. The sonic isnt a plush cushion crown vic ride but it's relatively slow and rides pretty well. Sorry if i hurt ur butt in advance butthurticus.

I would rather us decide on a mini-meet locale first.

>>15471208
I suggested that when i said memorial park silly me i meant hermann. :P

i love that park regardless of the gays doing the raping in the woods at night there.

in regards to bear creek park, it looks fine, i take clay road past it daily and it looks fine.
>>
>>15471208
That's a great central location for a mini-meet as well. As long as we have plenty of options for smaller meets we can incorporate them into planning and outlining the larger meets.

I think it's a pretty good idea to just have people attend a mini-meet to decide on things to do. Have people show up one or twice before the bigger meets and decide what to do over coffee or lunch or whatever. Sure, that does cause problems if someone can't make it to a mini-meet, but if they're held once a month, it's no big deal if they miss one or two since they'll still get a say in all the others.

Personally, I'm not too picky on whatever's decided, but I would like to have something set in stone at least a week in advance, if not a little earlier so I can adjust my schedule accordingly.
