Hello

I posted
>>15464677
in the last thread

I will go on to say that a lot of guys on advrider have said that the bigger bikes like the 650 dual sports and bigger adventure bikes aren't as likely to get stolen in Mexico as the smaller 250 - 300 dual sports are. There aren't as many 650+ bikes there so they tend to stand out and are harder to steal and sell inconspicuously, and many people don't want to buy one knowing that it's stolen because they don't want to stand out on a stolen bike.

a / indicates division or a comparison. 90 ft/b would mean 90 feet per pound. The unit is foot pounds. It's different.

You could have typed it as ft.lb, ft-lb, ft*lb, ft•lb, or a number of other different ways that wouldn't make it seem like a different unit

I always change the filter every time I change the oil. Haven't done an oil change on my bike yet because I just got it in April, Hanes manual recommends every 5k miles but that seems kinda high for a 600 supersport.

1000-1500 miles
Castrol 10w40 PowerRS 4T Racing
Replace Filter w/Kawasaki OEM Filter every oil change

Low oil capacity (1.4qts) + tons of city riding with short distances, and if not I'm on the highway holding 7000-9000rpms (Redlines at 10.5k) in 6th Gear. Oil comes out coal black.

KLX250
>>
>>15464991
I asked a chemical engineer in my grad school about how often I should change my oil. His opinion was 3k to 4k in a bike is about as far as you'd want to go. Most oils are designed for engines reving at 4 or 5k at the most, and bikes can get up to 10k easy. Makes sense to me so I change mine at 2500 miles.
>>
>>15465022
>Replace Filter w/Kawasaki OEM Filter every oil change

why are you using an OEM filter? Why not aftermarket?
>>
>>15464827
New honda needs 1100cc to produce same result as old hondas' 750cc.
>>
>>15465029
The revs dont really matter. Its the transmission that fucks the oil.
>>
>>15465033
The K&N for it is Made in India, while the OEM one is stamped Made in Japan and costs $2-3 more. I'm autistic too so I replace the drain plug washer every oil change ($3, its a weird size that I can't find on McMaster Carr/Grainger).

Kawasaki says the oil's supposed to be changed every 7500 miles but that just seems ridiculous with how nasty it looks after 1000 miles.

It's time for /dbt/ - nostalgia edition.
Play this song and tell us what originally got you into motorcycles.

https://youtu.be/ntCci7RLTcI

For me, my dad bought one when I was probably 13, and he brought me to the dealership when he went to pick it up. I'd never looked twice at a motorcycle before. Always heard people talk about how they were dangerous, but never gave them two thoughts.

I saw a Buell Blast in the showroom. Brand new. Something about it caught my attention hard. The more I looked at it, the cooler I thought it was. Got home, googled it, and it always stuck with me through the years. I remember seeing him ride and knowing how it must feel. Never lost that.

12 years later, I bought one of my own and it's everything I thought.

dad used to race bikes and all his friends were ex motorcycle racers and mechanics and what not so it was around my whole life, as far back as I'm capable of remembering I wanted to ride.

I begged mum and dad for a dirtbike for years until me and my brother got one when I was 10.

Outgrew that and was off two wheels for a few years before getting the SV (first road bike) as an adult.

and posting superior nostalgic 2 wheeled music.

>>15465499
I always heard stories of my dad taking my older brother on motorcycle rides before I was born. By the time I came along he had sold it off. Around 2008 my brother wanted a motorcycle and we both started looking at bike magazines and on the internet. He eventually got a HD Sportster. I thought it looked nice but even then it floored me how much they cost.

After college I got work with a decent paycheck but had to live in town without a damned thing to do. There are miles of road in any direction so I figured a motorcycle would be a way to make them atleast some fun. At the MSF course we had to ride Kawasaki Eliminators, turned me off to the idea of a cruiser then (didn't realize that the eliminators were just too fucking small for me). Looked at cheap 250cc machines in case I ended up not enjoying riding or chickened out I wouldn't have too much cash into it.

Got my CBR250r (inb4 overused memes) and have been enjoying it thus far.

I've been thinking of getting one of those red camp-stove bottles and carrying a little extra fuel just to avoid that since my bike has no reserve. And to see just how far it can really go on a tank of gas.

Did you push it to a station or did a friend help you anon?

>Eliminator

Iktf. Had to ride one for my MSF course as well. First one ones gearbox seized in first, second one had really bad rev hang/rev at random and die, third was rideable but throttle was jerky as fuck

I rode my friends 600 shadow before, and riding the eliminators just reinforced my hate of cruiser posture

My dad always talked about his old bikes growing up and wanting to get quads for the whole family.

Down the line he got one for each of us and we'd go on trips with the lady he married after my mom.

Long story short I started getting constant hand cramps from the thumb throttle (I was 11, mind you) and then I rolled my quad.

Years down the line I got my ruckus, and traded up 5 months later to a real bike.

I think my old quad is for sale at the dealer I bought my bike...

There's a used 2013 model for sale just around the corner from me. It's near mint and at a great price.

Yeah, ended with my fuel gauge flashing at me last night for the same reason. I *know* that when it starts flashing I should still have a gallon left but my lizard brain doesn't like that rational thought. Had to go through 3 gas stations before I found one that still had the pumps on at 3am.

>>15465628
The ones I rode were just missing turn signals and pulling in the clutch was strictly optional during gear changes. The biggest pain in the ass was that I kept racking my knees with the bar-ends doing the slow speed maneuvers.

No, because the deceleration is not caused by the engine, but the clutch in that case.
Engine braking is clutch in, downshift, revmatch, clutch out, throttle closed.

Short story
>Riding to Colorado for a wedding
>Notice stock plastic housing has become brittle and is leaking slowly
>Bandaid it with a paper towel and zip ties
>Works fine for ~1200 miles during the trip
>Get back home and order a Rizoma replacement because I don't like the stock piss cup one
>Put it on before a trip 2-up to Tuscon, AZ with pillion
>Notice halfway there the new one is leaking
>Seems slow enough so bandaid it and decide to deal with it when I get home
>Park bike overnight in parking garage while getting sloshed around Tuscon
>Go out to bike in the morning and reservoir is empty
>Figure it's a slow enough leak I can just put more fluid in it to get home and deal with it then
>As I'm pouring fluid it's coming out about as fast as I'm pouring it
>Viewing window has spider cracked all the way to the output of the reservoir
>Fuck
>Call and ride around Tuscon looking for some sort of universal reservoir I can use, but it's Sunday so all the moto shops are closed.

The "person behind is always at fault" thing is a meme perpetuated by retards. The truth is that it's difficult to defend hitting a person from behind, but it is /not/ impossible. If the person in front was doing something that they weren't supposed to, and had a significant role in the cause of the accident (like in this anon's case) it is defensible. Still, I think the insurance will fall against this anon, but the point stands.

>>
>>15466255
