Sup /o/. I think I decided to keep onto my fzs600 for much longer time, since its perfect for me.
Question - is it worth to upgrade suspension on it? I'll be keeping it until it dies, which might take some time.
Question #2 - if I decide to upgrade its suspension, are there any other rear shock options than Ohlins? For example, would R6 rear shock fit it?

Get a cookie cutter 600 supersport. Cheap, light, fast, they make perfect track bikes. You'll never outgrow it.

Questioner here
I'm there for technique, not so much for the actual laptimes.
Isn't it pointless getting a 600 if you're going to be amongst other 600s anyway?

The way I see it, a 250 will require me to be much more careful with braking and lines because losing momentum costs so much. Also things like initial purchase, fuel, tires, chains, and servicing is way cheaper on a small bike.

Although I'm open to ideas, what do you think?

250s or any slow bike with good suspension and tires are great for building technique but the aftermarket for 600s is better and the cost is honestly not that high. You can always limit your power with a throttle stop or restrictors if you want to focus on cornering technique without using power as a crutch to keep up.
>>
>>15409818

>cheaper

That's midly dependent on area. Price of new parts online, sure, but if there's a large enough crowd of people running 600's you could probably get some great deals on lightly used stuff.

Don't get a 250 if you're planning on riding big open roadrace circuits. You'll be at top speed and still not able to approach a normal cornering speed for most of the other bikes.

Get a DRZ or something and ride go kart tracks. Entry fees are usually super cheap and so are bike repairs. Lowsiding one of these is usually no damage to the bike.

From what you listed I would be torn between the FZ6 and the TL1000, although that liter V-twin is really thirsty and a tank range of 100 miles is kinda annoying. I think I'd go with the FZ6. You can still go fast on one if you want and it's something you can ride over 2 hours or even tour without much discomfort.

Maybe you can consider more middleweight bikes with comfy ergos?

Yeah the FZ6 seems fast, low running costs but I don't really like the looks. Good on paper but just doesn't grab me by the balls.

I won't be doing long trips as such, just 5 miles to work and 1-2 hour fun rides.

Nothing wrong with the gladius other than looks and weight and price. And the new SV fixes all these issues. It even weighs a bit less than gen 2 but it has a smaller fuel tank so that's cheating a bit.

>cb500x vs mt07

Anon how is that even a question.

The CB500X is like those lifted hatchbacks with tyre marks on the paintjob advertising itself as an offroad vehicle. Oh wait, that's literally what they did.

The only thing you could take from it is the frontal windscreen, but to be honest if you do want something comfortable and utilitarian (and maybe touring-ish) you're already in another market, maybe take a look at the NC700 route.

MT07 has more power, more aftermarket, more identify (the CB looks bland as fuck) and I think is all around a much nicer bike to have.

Alright famalang, need some tips on cleaning my bike properly

Is it okay to use a hose? I mean just running water not putting your finger on it to spray hard along with this product I have that is like Car Soap that I use in my car.
Also can I do that, spraying the water hard on my spokes? they're black, I rode the bike thinking the chain lube had already settled down but it got into them, also in the inside of the plastics its filled with dirt

anything I need to protect when using water? I only know that I need to wait for the water to dry in the brakes for example

I have a motorcycle product which is supposed to clean and wax but other than leaving a nice look on it it doesnt clean anything

thanks in advance

I might suck it up and get a tank bag, if I figure out my tank is big enough.

The left one is pretty cheap, but I don't know if it's tall enough to lean on,
the one on the right is made by two pieces but it's too tall like that, the base is slighty bigger than the first model tough, might not be tall enough to lean on either tough.

Wich would you pick?

I don't know, but seeing the amount of rust, disassembled parts and how water would easily get into them, and electrical tape I've seen I would never use a hose.

>abs always makes sure wheel speed is identical, low traction = no brakes
>continuously going from lock to 0 brakes kills your stopping power
Low traction is LITERALLY when ABS kicks in: ABS releases brakes when the wheel begins to skid. A skidding wheel is not slowing you down, a wheel in contact with the road and rotating slowly is slowing you down. Overbraking, slippery surfaces (ice, oil on slick surfaces, etc), ABS will stop your quicker and in a shorter distance than manually pulsed/modulated braking.

The ONLY situation where locking a wheel will slow you more than ABS brake-release-brake cycling is in thick snow or dirt - that is packed just enough to ride over but not enough that you cannot sink in - where the dirt/snow mounding in front of the wheel blocks progress.

>>15410667

>>

honestly none of them look good. This one was fairly sleek but it didn't fold in so I ended up breaking both of them off.

Saw a video on one of those. Looks badass. It sucks that it's an autotragic, though.

Not really. Winter socks for winter or any thin / sports sock (cycling

So now that the mid size ADV bike section is growing beyond just the Tiger and GS, with the Africa Twin, FZ-07 Tenere, and that KTM that everyone knows is coming. Will we finally see the bikes getting lighter and better off road to keep up with the competition?

The KTM will offer decent performance while the japs continue to produce slow pigfat bullshit like in all the rest of the non-racing market segment with the excuse of "It's okay becaues it was never intended to be good."
>>
>>15411437
Wes Siler left

>>15411434
No
The Mt-tracer will be even more useless offroad than the V strom and no 180+kg bike is going to be capable of anything extreme.
>>
>>15411434

also that KTM looks just to be a 950 with less displacement

>For slippery surfaces you want TC, not abs
Traction Control is the extension of the ABS technique (of modulating applied force gated by rotation rate to prevent wheel slip) for operation during acceleration rather than when braking.

>>
>>15411477
Your point?
>>
>>15411307
Get a rear-view helmet. They're surprisingly Not Shit.
>>15411478
I can afford one (new even, without finance) it's just more of a second bike than a primary bike (shit carrying capability due to its tiny and awkwardly shaped luggage so no good for touring, DCT and middling power so no good for performance, etc), so cash is going to a better all-rounder first to handle commuting and touring. Unless Honda discontinue it, I'll probably get one in a couple of years.
Maybe by then the colour options Japan have will have rolled out to the UK too. I'm not going to pretend I wouldn't get one in red.
>>
>>15411487
I still wouldn't expect much else from it.

Well the Tenere will probably raise the bar for light weight, not that 400 lbs wet is light, but it's lighter than a wee strom or 800GS and only 50 lbs heavier than a DR650. So it might get the Eurofags off their ass to make something even lighter. And a 350 lb 6-800cc twin with 70 HP sounds fucking good to me.
