So after some experimenting, this looks like it's the best line for T1. If you hit the curb while on the exit you might get the rear loose. You can hit the curb harder if you are brave, but the results are mixed. Mostly what happens is you lose time by getting all the tyres in the air.

GT500 is DTM but with even more aero and a bit more power. You might as well do prototypes at that point. And there is no decent GT500 mod. Gnik's "GT500" mod had the HSV physics slapped into all the cars so it's a "shitty spec series" as you would call, but you're blinded by the weeb factor. And no matter what you do nowadays, nobody will show up unless it's GT3, because shitters comprise 60% of the field and everyone apart from the top 5 drives alone or crashes mid race.

The GT500 cars are literal aero monsters, that outpaced even the rebellion LMP1.
This was even noticable in the previous gen we ran in rfactor with the gnik mod. The physics were from Team B.B. so you can't just call it shit. The cars were planted like glue, it was impossible to spin them unless you dropped a wheel in the grass while going WOT, and if you touched the curbs in the apex, the car would start sliding at ridge racer tier angles, but it snapped back only by countering and giving it a bit of throttle. In order to be fast you needed pinpoint precision and a lead foot. They were one of the most sterile cars I've driven.

2. That particular lap time comparison is with the Fuji low drag bodywork which has much less downforce than regular GT500 or DTM

If I want a decent single player game with a good sense of speed. Is Project CARs or Assetto Corsa the better option? In case anyone was wondering I've solved all my Driving Force GT woes. When I plugged it in Windows 10 decided to install new drivers for it (despite them already being present) in doing this it installed drivers for a Driving Force, the cheaper wheel with less features and other shit causing all kinds of bugs. Removing all the drivers and reinstalling fixed everything. Wew.
