that exhaust manifold appears to have been designed by a mongoloid

That is the engine bay equivalent of standing outside a primary school at home time with your cock hanging out.

Where should I mount an aux jack in my NA? I have to drill a hole somewhere and I don't want it to be ugly.

what exactly is wrong with that manifold?

Took this pic of my NA today and I like how it came out. Need to find somewhere that'll do an alignment on it so I can get some of the negative camber taken out of the front.

Anyone know of some good wheels that'll fit straight out of the box? 15 inch x 7 or 8 that is. Mine came with shitty tire rack wheels and I never got around to replacing them. Konig Dial Ins seem nice.
>>
>>15122281
Today, I test drove a brand new ND. I was the first person to test drive it and immediately fell in love. I'm looking at a sport and the guy I talked to knows my parents so I can get an okay deal. Does anyone here own one? What's it like to daily?
>>

You learn to only take what you actually need with you places.
It's all really about how high your tolerance level is for things (like being in a small space for a long while)

>>15124859
Love that red.

Mine looks decent right now cause they guy I bought it off had the whole thing plastidipped cause the paint is wearing/scratched to hell. Still deciding on a color, it's brilliant black originally but I'm thinking a nice red would be good.
>>
Would I be making a huge mistake getting the ND/RF?
They seem like pretty sweet cars by themselves, but I heard the tranny is shit and the engine has zero potential because skyactiv.
Dont want to go slow forever

Why do so many miata owners swap out their stock seat for a bucket seat of some sort?

Is the stock seat shit in some way or are they just ricing?
>>
>>15124888
Na, you need to have a jack with a pass through otherwise you can't listen to the radio or cassettes. I ended up doing it on a small panel on the left side of the centre console, it's a removable panel so if I want it stock I can get a new one from a wrecker
>>
>>15125882
>Is the stock seat shit in some way or are they just ricing?

they are absolute economy car no bolstering shit tier

>>
>>15125471
heh naw that blue car on the RPF1s is just a pic i saved. my wheels are worth about 1/3 of those RPF1s lol :(

>>15125883
thats weird, my head unit just has RCA connectors in the back so i just used a long ass 3.5 mm to RCA cable and routed it to come out from behind the passenger side of the dash
>>
>>15125912
Mines the stock Panasonic unit from 1992, you have to make your own aux in using a 13 pin din cable.
>>
>>15122304
That's how you do a longtube, equal length 4 into 1 manifold if there isn't any room under the car - which there probably isn't. It effectively promotes top end power.

>implying standing outside a primary school at home time with your cock hanging out is bad
>>
What's the limit of mileage that you'd consider for a Miata you plan to daily?
>>
>>15126558
Bought my 95 with 250k km's on it. It was well looked after by its previous owners, even getting re upholstered and resprayed. No issues thus far besides the engine eats a bit of oil.

Only real "fixes" I've done were replace the bushing and boots on the shifter, and replace the valve gasket and CAS o ring.

>Tfw I know nothing about detailing cars
Show me your ways senpai (or anyone for that matter). I'm probably going to repaint my car purple within the next couple years tho so it doesn't really matter I guess.
>>15125135
I have 15x8 +36 949 Racing 6ULs with 195/50R15 Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s, and I think I still have like an inch or half an inch of clearance from the fenders at stock height. For 8s, I think as long as the offset is 20 or more, it should clear. Though if you lower the car, you'd probably need a +25 offset or higher unless you decide to roll/pull the fenders. I think Advanti Storm S1s look nicer than the Konig Dial-Ins; they're also a pound lighter. I personally wouldn't go with that style of wheel on an NA - if I ever get an NB I'll definitely put Advantis on them. But yeah, if you haven't already, check Good-Win-Racing's website and their wheel selection. I don't believe any of them will require any rolling/pulling, and I think they're all lightweight.
>>15125144
>Tfw will probably never get to test drive an ND until it's like 20 years old

>B-because racecar!
I think half of the people who get racing seats are just ricing and go with shitty fiberglass replicas that has potential to kill them if they git rekt.
>>15129031
Muh dick.
>>15129253
Only takes a few seconds to drop/raise the top.
>So if it starts raining while you're driving and the top is down what the fuck do you do?
A: Pull over, get out of car, pull soft top up, latch top
B: Stop (or while driving below 20 MPH), pull top up and over from behind you and latch it - do you even lift?!
>Just drive around in a motorized bathtub until you can park and put the top up?
Sounds comfy, familia. Should make it a jacuzzi while we're at it.
>>
>>15129739
Don't, wait and find a good one.
1. It has rust in the worst spot, corroding the rocker panel. No-no.
2. rear window is cracked, replacing soft top is costly and a pain. Replacing only the window is cheaper but you have to do it custom.
3. "very loud". What did he do to it? What is the quality of this work? I would not buy that thing, you can get a better car for less if you check craigslist/searchtempest every day for like a month.
>>
>>15133531
So I have 15x7 all-seasons. When it rains I like to get the tail out, do you think 15x8s would make that harder, or barely noticeable? I don't have an LSD which makes it hard enough already.

Here's my Na, added important performance modifications last weekend such as tire balance, and oil. It was good.
Seriously though, all my suspension bushings are pretty much fucked according to the alignment shop. idk if I should trust them since it's sort of a latin american equivalent of jiffy lube, and the guy immediately tried to get me to buy the bushings from them there and now. there was some play though, but I don't want to blow $200+ on fucking bushings. wat do, and how can I tell if I should replace my bushings? 82k miles btw.

You should probably inspect your bushings. Look for deterioration, cracks, excessive hardness or softness, and play. If you can't feel anything abnormal when you're driving it's probably ok.

Usually the shaking is caused by excessive radial run-out in the wheel assembly, due to manufacturing defects of the tire.

>>
>>15136414
Read the TSB that Mazda put out dude, not shit people say on the internet. Mazda themselves narrowed it down to radial run-out. The fix includes breaking the bead and rotating the tire on the rim until the lowest and highest points of each meet up, which effectively reduces radial run-out.

I even have a set of tires with run-out and one set without, one will shimmy and one won't. Same exact perfect alignment.

so explain most NAs getting the shimmy with hundreds of different tyre manufacturers
>>
>>15136455
A lot of tires have defects man, it's not dependent on tire manufacturer. The miata just seems to be extra sensitive to variations.

Why do you think you know better than the company that designed the car?
>>
>>15136455
meant types of tyres not manufacturers

every NA ive driven has the shimmy

>A lot of tires have defects man
if that many tyres really had such glaring defects, theyd be out of fucking business
>>
>>15136491
Most tire balancing machines say anything below .030 inches of run-out is ok. Most tires fall below that limit, being "defect free". However the tires still could be like .025 out and the miata seems to like the run-out to be pretty much zero. It seems to be especially sensitive.

Again, why do you think you know better than Mazda?

Either rebuild or new engine. A lightly used engine is probably gonna be a bit cheaper but if you want to turbo and want higher pressure go for the rebuild and get some forged pistons and rods. You can get a set for about $1800. All in all if you go with a rebuild and forged internals you're looking at around $2500-3k if you do most of the work yourself and only send the block and head out to be machined.
If you're thinking about just running stock internals, buy a used engine, much easier and probably cheaper.

Miatas after 92(?) are super reliable. Not a whole lot that goes wrong mechanically. They just start burning/leaking oil when they get old (250k+ miles) and lose compression eventually. And the lifters start to click but that won't break anything.

The short nose is pre 91.5 cars. Big nose are in cars that rolled out of the factory after the Vin cutoff after 91.5.

"long nose" cranks are replacement cranks with longer keyways as a fix for short nose cranks that failed.

Short nose and long nose cranks had a smaller diameter crank nose. The big nose are larger in diameter.

In other news....guys I did a thing today...I really want to post photos but I can't until I put my dashboard back into the car. So I kinda did a dash mount iPad Mini install in my 1991 Miata, it snaps in and out and I'm really excited about it but until it's in the car I really want to hold off on revealing it to everyone..

>1997 Miata M edition STO edition with 152k miles for $4700 (pic related)
or
>1996 Miata with 75k miles for $5500
I'm leaning more towards the second one. I saw it in a parking lot last night and left a note, surprisingly he called me back. I'm going to see it tomorrow. It's got very low miles, especially for a miata around here, and very nice wheels. Also, it's black, with black wheels and soft top, which makes me diamonds

Idk if I remember correctly, but aren't STO models automatics only? keep in mind that the auto in the miata is a piece of trash, even by slushbox standards.

Yeah after like 250, 300k miles. That's par for the course for a sports car imo

>dash mount iPad
What does it do?

It tells the time. What else do you expect from an ipad? GPS?

>1997 Miata M edition STO edition
It's just an STO edition

The STO is basically a 1996 M edition without a TLSD

The iPad is a first gen iPad Mini. I still have yet to buy the necessary electronics to get it to do much in the vehicle however once done it will have full standalone and FREE GPS, constant power, audio playback through the speakers, and later on down the line it will have gauge support as well. If you want to know the electronics to support this will here you go!
