Clutch pedal has no weight to and is really easy to push in. I'm guessing first bleed the fluids? I already checked the levels(brake and clutch) and they're okay. Besides bleeding it, what else should I do afterwards? Google said it could be the slave cylinder but I'm not sure
>>
>>15069436
If the clutch is light it's either the slave or master cylinder. Usually it's the slave cylinder. Check for leakage on both and replace accordingly. Then bleed and you should be good

So my driver's side fog light went out the day after I put new bulbs in. I'm thinking it's the wiring but I can't find any information about it online. All I know is that the NB1 fog lights were port installed, and are some obsolete model from Hella. I'm really bummed, I bought some yellow bulbs so I could have yellow driving lights but now my wiring is all fucked up.

there is no way that engine (or any other DOHC V8) could physically fit in a Miata engine bay. It's going to be way to wide and possibly to tall.
>>
>>15069864
Yes, you are correct, supposedly the Coyote is just barely wider than the actual opening of the engine bay. Pipe dreamers gonna pipe dream yo.

I recently finished off a set of RE11As, and am between jobs so I put on whatever shitty economy tires my local shop pushed at me. Holy shit, I can kick the rear out whenever the fuck I want (the fat rear sway bar & lsd certainly help). Amazing in some ways, unsafe in others.

I've had this car for 7-8 years (5 of which I also had a 19 psi STI) and have spent about 20 hours on a track with it, but goddamn it still makes my day whenever I drive it.

It's open diff for sure.
Pre 93 mazdas had vlsd as an option, but vlsd becomes open diff after some time.

Nevertheless it's still a decent price, assuming it's in a decent condition. Especially if it's some other color than red.

>>15074469
The price seems a bit too high, though don't hold me on that, i don't live in the USA.
For a proper DD i'd look for retractable hardtop version if you have the money. That extra weight is not exactly desirable but in the end the comfort you get with it is worth it.

not sure if I should get an NA because popups or save up even more and get an NC RF (before you say that the RF will handle like shit, note that corvettes exist) for the better handling and safety plus the infotainment screen housing that I can use if the iDrive system is actually needed

i googled and I have not found anyone that has done it

there was one guy that was able to fit a 7 series v12 but that's a luxobarge engine that probably doesn't even rev to 6500 and even then the hood couldn't fit anymore

i called my local bmw dealer.....they don't have any new s85's but they have rebuilt ones (only thing not brand new are the block and heads) for $28,000

the manual from the e60 m5 is about $3500

miata's main attributes are: FR, 4 banger, lightweight, 2 seater, convertible

not a lot of options really, at least at the miata price range. E30 comes to mind, not a 2 seater though. E36 is another option, it's a lot bigger than a miata though. some other options: Z3, AE86, S13, S2000, maybe even a 240Z or a 280zx.

if you want to branch out to MR cars there is always the MR2. all 3 gens are good.

Today, my Miata would NOT shift into reverse. It also made a grinding noise going into first and overall hates going from first to second and is ridiculously notchy until it gets warmed up.

Could this be something as simple as just pulling the shiftboot off and replacing the oil in there? I recently got new plugs, timing belt, seals everywhere, whole 60000 mile maintenance, so the transmission fluid SHOULD be good since they say they drained and filled it.
>>
>>15086774
Have you checked the clutch slave? It's a common failure with miatas. Grab the boot on it and if it leaks a bit change it. It might just be low on clutch fluid too.

Going to see a '91 with 112k miles tomorrow, never had a Miata before, anything I should look for in particular? Owner wants 3.9k for it. (not American so prices are probably higher here)

There is also a '94 1.8 with 92k miles that I've been looking at, it has a new top but costs 4.6k and is pretty far away, is it worth it?
>>
>>15098639

Check the VIN on the 91 for potential SNC failure.

I have vacc/boost, fuel pressure and wide band AFR on my mustangs a-pillar. She's far from riced. People were putting gauges there back when chrome was king.

any recommendations on how to get a decent price on an nb or na from a stealer? My current car just wont sell private party and its on lein so a trade-in would be the easiest transaction even if i may lose some money

just looking for some tips to reduce the impact
>>
Just sold my Miata (it was dogshit) so now my only car is a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage. I know, I'm an utter failure. I'm planning on saving up for the next few years to build an LS3 NA because apparently I have a death wish.
>>
>>15099862

Pull out blue book value as it's always cheaper than Craigslist pricing. Also, ask for out-the-door pricing to save money from registration.

Damn I forgot how slick matching hardtops looked. Every time I see them in the wild they're mismatched. I was gonna get a black one for my white NA but now I'm having second thoughts.

Eh I think certain colors look better matched than others. I decided to mismatch mine when I bought an old beat up, clear coat peeled off top a couple years ago. I ended up liking it better.
>>
>>15102232
when I started looking for hard tops I was split between a matching one and a black one as well (had access to both), so I went to Treasure Coast Miata where a few friends work and they let me try on a black one, and I didn't really like it too much.

I do think on certain cars the different color hard top looks good though, red car with black hard top is a clean combo, and I've always liked the mariner blue cars with a white hard top cause smurf.

I was planning on painting my wheels black too which probably influenced the black hardtop, but I'm leaning more towards staying silver/gray now and throwing some knockoff basketweaves on to look like pic related. Still looks kinda good but I bet white would look better now seeing yours.

brakes are #1, I'd probably flush them and put in some high temp brake fluid and some good brake pads off 949 racing or something.

check/change engine oil and check for leaks, get an alignment and check wheel bearings, find some good tires and check proper inflation. check with the track on what kind of safety equipment is required.

some tracks don't allow antifreeze in any of the cars on track so keep that in mind.
>>
>>15104091
>some tracks don't allow antifreeze in any of the cars on track so keep that in mind.

for what purpose?
you'd think that's backwards since antifreeze also has a higher boiling point than water, meaning you're less likely to overheat your car.
>>
>>15104300
antifreeze is really difficult to get off of asphalt and crews hate cleaning it up when people bring their cars on track and blow hoses
>>
>>15104334
So you're just supposed to run water? Or is there an alternative that doesn't boil as easily?
>>
>>15104342
idk man this was just at the drag strip I went to. they didn't allow anybody into test and tune who had ethylene glycol in their cooling system. call your track
>>
>>15104300
So you don't spill that slippery shit all over the track

and anyway, at a 50 50 mix of antifreeze and water, boiling temp is only raised ~7 degrees C. it's the system pressure that increases boiling point the most

Run water wetter and water. Coolant doesn't transfer heat as well as water anyway.

I'm hearing a weird grind from the underside of my 92. It only makes the noise at certain revs, which moves around depending on what temperature it is.
I'm thinking it's the exhaust, am I correct?

Just stopped by vatozone for some instant gratification. My car has excessive flow from EGR system at idle. I'm assuming that I should probably clean the valve and replace the gasket? This is gonna be my first big project for my car so I'm gonna have to do some research.

Should I sell my DRZ400SM to turbo my 93? I'd go with the FM2 no electronics kit and just piece the rest together myself.
>>
>>15109641
damn dude I was just thinking of selling one of my bikes to turbo my shit too, it's tough to decide but I don't ride that much anymore and why have 2 bikes.
I guess what you should ask is what would you use more, the car or the bike?

I think I'd use the car more. I love the bike, but I don't find myself using it a whole lot anymore. My handful of friends that had bikes sold them all, so I have no one to ride with anymore. That, and there's not really a lot of fun places to ride in the area. The only real use I've been getting out of it, is my ~3mile round trip to work when it's warm out, or an occasional solo ride on weekends. For some reason, I've been kind of scared to ride it, too. I just have this weird feeling like I'm going to get killed on it, which I never had before.

got back from the alignment shop and it turns out my car won't hold alignment because all the suspension bushings are fucked. On a scale form 1-10, how much of a pain in the ass would it be to to the job myself? I got access to a homemade hydraulic press and an impact gun.
