I'm not wanting one of the super hard/narrow seats. I want a wide, soft seat (Seat Concepts probably) so I don't get a sore ass after just 30 minutes of sitting down. My current seat would be fine for off-road but is miserable for road or dual sport riding.

That will only make it worse. The seat is literally 3 inches wide.
>>
>>15109957
i was going to get a soft seat to soak up the vibrations when street riding but i dont think its worth the tradeoff considering how useless the bike is on the street anyways. once i figure out bars that are comfortable for me in an attack position, i'll pick a seat height that compliments. probably stepped or tall.

My EXC spends most of its time on the road currently anyway because I'm a shitcunt. I never experienced any problems off-road with the wide/soft seat on my KLX though.

I overestimated the price a bit. It's $175 for the foam and cover to attach it to a stock pan. or $275 for the complete seat. The problem is that my bike came with an aftermarket seat already and I don't know if that's the stock pan.

Just fuck my shit up.

Is it strong enough to put your body weight on the bike on the kickstand? The stock stand was so weak I'm not sure if I can ever trust a kickstand on that bike.

My DRZ kistand is strong enough to lean the like on it and lift both wheels off the ground though.

the first time i tried to kickstart the bike on the stock stand, someone's previous repair broke and it put me on the ground. i fixed it, but theres no way it would hold my weight. this one is solid enough to pick the bike up and pivot on it, and if it werent so awkward i think i could kick start while on the stand. it also has a big foot for soft surfaces, and is about the right height for the stock height bike. the OEM stand would fall over if the bike was leaning or pointing downhill at all. not to mention the stupid little rubber retainer strap isnt needed anymore

For the sake of keeping it simple they're very similar. The octane had now pep overt the scout. It's not ridiculous. At the end of the day it really depends on which one you want to look at and are now comfortable on. The scout 60 is the waterd down amd cheaper version of the scout obviously.

my dad has been riding since 1970, didnt own a bike with electric start until 2011, and he cant kick start the KTM on flat ground. his triumph can be easily started from either side of the bike on the center or side stand. he's about 5'9". my roommate is close to the same height and he cant start it either.

Arkansas doesnt care about stuff like that. they put ODO EXEMPT on any vehicle that goes through their system, and we have no inspections. if you look around online you can find out how to go into the settings and change the stuff that you arent supposed to be able to change, like the odometer reading.

if you can handle the 650 like in your webms im sure youd be fine with a 750cc+ bike

i'd say its legitimately a hard bike to start because of the compression, height of the lever at the top of its travel, and the fact that the lever hits the footpeg before it rotates through 180 degrees. technique is everything of course, and i can start it in a single motion, but it would be nice if there was a cheat so other people could start it without practicing.

>>15110334
the lever is 26 inches off the ground, and it really takes your whole body weight to crank it.

Shit, when I tried kickstarting a 2-stroke it turned easy as fuck and felt like no compression compared to a thumper. Was there something wrong with mine or is the 380 just that much harder than a 250?

I hate those super short levers that run your foot into the peg though. I had to put my foot barely on the lever and turn it sideways to not kick the solid peg and hurt my ankle.
>not wearing MX boots though
yolo. I wasn't doing any serious riding on it.

The NW 200 is mad as fuck. I actually like and care about everyone on the whole Irish road racing scene. Guy Martin crashes, I get sad and hope he's fine. Lorenzo or Valentino or whoever crashes I don't give a fuck.

The whole thing is legit.

Sadly I never had the funds to go there and watch the thing but I do have an interest in it — much more than I ever had in the massive ego-driven shitfest that is motogp.

then you'll be pleased to learn that there are other short circuit racing championships.

https://youtu.be/4TODr3JZ1tU?t=275

They're different appeals to the same core formula, you get more scrapping and closer to the limit on short circuit, you get more danger and "speed" on road racing, I don't see how you could like one but "hate" the other though unless you're just trying to be a special snowflake though (why..*I* only like irish road racing! not like those track pussies!)

Don't superbikes generally have hella-tall first gears capable of 90+mph, and still not have a 6th gear tall enough for 200mph? Wouldn't the riders want to be in power band as they come out of those hairpins instead of chugging along at less than 9k RPM?

If it won't run off the choke your pilot jet is clogged. If the slide doesn't open when you give it throttle then your diaphragm is fucked. You may be able to fix pin holes in the diaphragm with plastidip.

>>15110478
have you ridden a litrebike? there's smooth power on tap from like 4k and you can definitely not use 180 hp atw coming out of bends like that.

>>
>>15110478
My Daytona has a very low first gear compared to the rest, I can't even touch it on the track because it makes the bike lurch unexpectedly, so I gear to stay above 9000 in second in the slowest corners. The triumph race kit has a higher first gear that puts it in line with the rest so you can gear to use it also, but you will struggle off the line. It will improve top speed however if you gear first for the slowest corner. If I magically had enough power to run 200 down the sulby straight, I'd probably use tall gearing and a low first gear, like stock, but I'd probably drop second down too

Dr 650 is ok on the highway especially with the right gearing, but dual sports have low tolerances which helps with reliability but also makes it burn oil at high revs.

I commuted further than that on my KLX for several years. It was ok but buzzy at high speed.

2-3 times per year you may be better off with a cheap dirt bike and a shit road bike to commute on

Actually finished 11th though.

Wrong. I've never been on reddit and own 3 motorbikes, 2 pushies.

So I wanna sell one of my bikes to put more money into my Miata, should I sell the KTM 525 or the XR650R?
>>

>>15111833

Sell both.
>>
>>15111847
Why?
I need at least one bike.
>>
>>15111863
You can leave /dbt/ if you put the value of both bikes into the miata though.
>>
>>15110947
I bought a drz400 2 weeks ago and I'm loving it to death. I don't think you can go wrong with it unless you have an inseam shorter than 31 inches, then I'd look at the DR 650.

Lol I'd stay here even if I lose both bikes.

Anyone have experience with these? The main site says these are $150, so $34 seems fishy. But I've been wanting a camera and this is actually a decent price for me right now.

Lets just say I wouldn't be talking to you now if I didn't wear my suit yesterday.

Watching the race, waiting on a call from the hospital and I'll probably get some guests
>>
>>15109832
what about smart cucks
>>
>>15109832
Smart, but I'd think annoying.

I wear a moto jacket with padding and plastic guards, kevlar jeans with foam guards, and leather boots. I live in Texas and that alone is hot as balls in the day time. I couldn't imagine wearing anything more and actually being able to enjoy the ride.
>>
>>15109808
>substitute throttle for talent
Is this a new /dbt/ motto?
>>
>>15111798
I admire absolute lack of chicken strips on ur front wheel.
Your rear one, however...
>>
>>15109853
I've done both. Without the suit I died and with the suit I was extremly sore and had many broken bones.

>mfw I met a girl who is interest in motorcycle when I talk about it

>>
>>15111958

is this the first thing nocar/nobikes look for when the see a motorcycle? Lets forget about the ss swingarm, ohlins suspension, brembo calipers, fuck look at dem tyres. Get fucked.
>>
>>15110140
IMHO that's the best argument I've heard in years. It'll look like you gave up. Make everything great. If you about to fuck it all, there is no reason not to go all in, get a huge loan and invest it randomly, hit on every girl you like, move across the earth.
>>
>>15111996
>is this the first thing nocar/nobikes look for when the see a motorcycle?

Nope, look at the cc number and ask if a ninja, because to them all sportsbikes are ninjas.
>>
>>15111996
Not him but brembos and öhlins parts are common nowadays. If your new bike doesnt have them or other good ones its probably shit or for poorfags.
>>
I wanted to go somewhere today but I'll probably buy a videogame and sit here all day instead.

Fuck. I don't like riding alone anymore.

If I need a new back tire real soon, but my front tire looks perfectly fine, would it be a bad idea to only replace the back?
>>
>>15112058
It's absolutally normal
>>
>>15112058
Probably not, unless your front and rear tyres were completely dfferent (like one was a sticky as fuck sport tyre and one was a hard commuter tyre etc) or had completely dfferent wet weather properties.
>>
>>15112077
Using the OEM tires still, but the back one is balding to all hell. The front one still looks new-ish. Was gunna throw a Pilot 3 on the back, but I wasn't sure how much of a difference it would make having OEM and P3s mixed.
>>
>>15112085

Stock fuel mapping is a finnicky on some versions and newer models have been tuned down to be more in line with the EU.

Overall great ride, sometimes /soul and passion/ will fuck you over, though
>>
>>15112244
Hit a concrete barrier at about 80km/h.
Just broke my fifth metacarpal bone, shaved finger, bruised my hip and some abrasions. Without suit I would probably have a broken hip, broken ribs and probably missing a part of my finger.

At the hospital they were surprised at how few damages I had after a crash like that.
