I have an old Panasonic SDT 750 laying around.

Can I just duct tape that to the side of my helmet?

You'll likely find both of those more boring than the DR650. If you're going to get rid of the DR you might as well replace it with something exciting like the Beta he pictured, or any other 450.

get a plated trail bike, both of those bikes you mentioned are less powerful than the 650 and neither are significantly lighter or more nimble for the loss of power.
>>
>>14892032
It's cheaper if you're using it on-road a lot. I didn't bother taking the knobbies off the DR and they've balded in a ridiculously short amount of time from commuting.
>>14892048
I would get a 450 if their maintenance schedule wasn't so bad. I'm a lazy motherfucker and would prefer not having to replace my oil every week. I commute on my bike, so I really want it available at all times without having to work on it.

Suzuki Hayabusa: For the straight man who lingers around a gay bar. He doesn't know why loiters by the door. Why does he do it every Saturday night? If asked why he is there, he responds with a rehearsed bellow: "If someone touches me, I'm gonna deck him!" But he doesn't leave. "This is MY neighborhood," he adds. Not if you get an actual supermoto. Real sport/supermoto tires cost $100+ each and last only like 3k miles. Plus the maintenance schedule of the actual "super" motards is more expensive than a normal dual sport. And you have to consider the hundreds of dollars spent for the 17" wheels.

You can get non-knobbies for the stock wheels. Dual sport tires can be had for less than $60 each, and I bet they will still be far more capable than you are, especially when commuting. Just slap some 80/20 tires on your DR.

>source
I converted a dual sport to "supermoto" (wheels, tires, brakes, etc.). Got hektik. Went back to dual sport tires. Still ride just as fast on street and even more so on trails.

Put them on and try riding it. You'll know if you still need to upgrade to sportier tires.

Also if you want your bike to turn in a bit faster you can drop the triple clams down on the forks a few mm.

Dropping the front and/or jacking the back is a time honored way of improving turn-in. Back in the bias-ply days, a narrower front rim (with the same size tire) is another way, but you can't do that with radials.
>>
>>14892155
yeah, but you'll probably run into issues like shaking or ground clearance. engineers spent years working on getting your motorcycle's geometry right. best not to fuck with it
>>
>>14892155

They make a difference.

Got the left indicator working on the MC22. Stripped the wire and re-terminated it into the connector with a pair of pliers and a bottle opener. Tr00 Aussie electrical work.

Front brakes and brake light switch are working now too.

Rear brakes still aren't working and there's a problem with the switch but I think I've isolated where the problem is. Hoping to check it out today or tomorrow.

the 183 in a grom is about perfect, it handles it well.

This thing Anima 190 in a pitbike with a normal length swingarm and 12 inch wheels was stupid, it's not even that particularly fast (maybe about as fast as a stock dr-z400SM?) but it was just dodgy, it was not really designed to handle that speed or power, it was fucked.

The CT110 was a YX170 bored out to 190cc if I remember. If you haven't ridden a CT110 they weigh about 83kg (182lbs), have drum brakes, and feel sketchy at 60kph (37mph).

Women aren't worth it, anon.
More so women with problems aren't worth it. Thinking that you can "save" someone is literally the worst thing you can do in life to fuck yourself up. People with problems are fucking parasites. You aren't helping them, you're volunteering to become a host for them to feed upon. They drag you down, suck you dry, and eventually move on to another hose.
You'll never be a knight in shining armor. We can't fix people. We can't save people.

If a chick has issues with drinking, drug use, cutting, any eating disorder, any family issues, if shes into tattoos, dyed hair, or piercings you avoid them like the plague.

You aren't going to meet Suzie Q. Goodwife by wasting time on damaged goods.

We got it up to 180kph (~110mph). Only got four gears to work with so that was the limit not the engine. There's no limiter either so gotta be careful not to blow it up.

I go through a rear tyre every week or two on my CT anyway so wouldn't want to deal with that one for long.

The more impressive build was the 85hp KR-1S that blew it's head "every other oil change". Felt like you were going to die when it hit power band.

I'm hoping to get an RGV250 or RS250 for myself once the CBR250RR is done and gone. Giving it away soonish.

>but how many postie miles do you put on your CT every week?
150-200miles. It's about 25-30 hours of riding. I've been using my NBC110 more often lately though. It's a piece of shit but it can carry more.

weight doesn't matter very much for top speed. Most of the energy goes to fighting the wind. Plus you would have to have it geared VERY high to reach those speeds without running out of revs.

It'll be an R6 or a 250 two-stroke for me. Friend of mine just bought a VFR800, hoping to give it a spin in a week or two. Said he could have a go on my R1 in return haha.

>>14892574
We haven't had much trouble getting various 250s to 100mph with barely any work. The CT weighs literally half of what they weigh.

Keep in mind we had to swap a lot of the transmission and what not to run a manual clutch.

The road we use is also very long. This is a very big country.

Because they're basically nothing alike to ride. I wanted a CBR600RR (07) but the YCC-T on my R1 is so easy to tune (you can tune on the stock ECU too) and the R6 from 06 on wards has it too.

RSV4 sounds wicked but guy I know with one gets 18mpg. I know you don't buy supersports with fuel economy in mind but fuck, my car is better than that.

Not into MV Augusta at all. I'd probably buy a Ducati 848 or 899 if I wanted to go that route.

I know guy but the KLX only has a 2.6 gallon tank. I wasn't talking shit but a street bike with ~100 mile range isn't acceptable to me. That's just an opinion.

You're making similar mpg to my Tiger and I fill up at 200 miles typically on a 5.2 gal tank. It's efi but no reserve.

did i say they weren't? i bought it for 1800 and sold it for 1800. not very expensive, especially for California. obviously they are slow, but they are inherently a starter motorcycle. i dont see why this is a problem. i had it for 2 months and was ready to move on. i would recommend a 250 or 300 to nearly anyone as a start bike, along with the usual 650s. and i already have taken a safety course.
btw, what do you care what someone else rides?

Keep in mind that's around town and on my commute. If you're on the highway it's dramatically improved. It's also a 0-60 in 2.5 second bike, eating fuel is kind of expected.

You're still talking chump change for fuel though. I think I pay $3-4 more than a tank for my CBR and get to make four times the power.

Intel has a mix of folks, tending to be on the weird side of things. As far as flight school goes, do you mean for a pilot slot? If so, then you're looking at the officer side of the house. If you'd rather be a loadmaster (get big, son) or flight engineer, then the enlisted side it is. Send me your questions; I won't blow smoke up your ass like a recruiter will.

How's your GPA? If you want to have a chance at flying, then git gud at school, get in shape, and go to ROTC. The Air Force Academy (what I like to call the Colorado School for Wayward Rich Boys) does produce some good officers, but also a lot who're fucking full of themselves and think they know everything under the Sun; fuck that. I honestly have a hard time imagining you as an officer, but then I have known several lieutenants who were nuts.

Intel is Intelligence. There's quite a few interesting jobs under that heading; I'll find you a link to job descriptions in a second. There are also some intel-related flying/RPA jobs, too.

If you want to go officer (like for being a pilot as we discussed earlier), you need to fix that shit and fast.

Here's how it goes on the enlisted side regardless of job: talk to recruiter, sign shit, go swear in and sign more shit, wait, go to basic, regret life, go to technical school (where you learn your job... mostly), go to follow on training or to your unit, do on-the-job training, do job and other military shit, become Senior Airman (E-4), maybe be allowed to live off-base, REENLIST/RETRAIN? On the enlisted side, they don't really care about your GPA. It's how your ASVAB turns out and whether or not you can get a TS. The ASVAB score for my job (if you remember what I do) is kind of pitiful because they needed MORE, MORE, MORE, NOWNOWNOW and so we have an increasing number of idiots, unfortunately. Far as college goes, I doubt they give a fuck either. Far as intel from what I hear around the rest of the delayed entry guys back here, I don't think GPA plays a huge role. I highly doubt they'd want a fuck up dealing with classified/non classified information though.

You might consider being a boom operator on a KC135 or KC10.

I will definitely look into it. thanks m8

>There's also programs where if you get your shit straight and do well as an enlisted puke you can go to Officer Training School and cross over the realm of nice money
how does one do this, do you just have to not suck at basic and your first job and constantly apply or what?

>>14893360
I spent all my monies sending my clothes and personal items here from oregon the last few days.

Ahahaha the struggle is real

I got shunned out of intel because I couldn't get a TS. I think I could now since the criminal charge is ancient but finding someone willing to front the cash to get you one is difficult.

I think that's his high school GPA since he hasn't graduated high school yet, maybe I misunderstood.

Posting U2 because fuck it

Are you in a transitional period in your life or something?
>>
>>14893371
Last October man, I ship out in June. Going to Lackland, then down to Pensacola for tech school. Went for Aircraft structure for the hell of it. Enlisted for six years, going to be an A1C right out of tech school.

This. A thousand times this.

>>14893367
Basic doesn't really matter for that. Do well at school (put forth the effort to make Distinguished Graduate or otherwise high in your class), kick ass at your first job (don't be a cocky little shit; just have a good work ethic and learn everything you can. Admitting when you fuck up and telling your supervisor what you did and what you intend to do to fix it helps.), do well with PT (consistent scores over 90 are key), and generally being persistent and awesome. There's this thing called "BTZ" (Below The Zone), which means getting promoted to Senior Airman early. You get a little extra money, plus it looks fantastic on the OTS boards. Taking classes (and fixing your GPA) while working helps, too. No guarantees, but hey, I know a couple of ex-maintainers who've made pretty damn good RPA pilots.

Moved to Denver and dropped out of school and considering enlisting doesn't happen because of a steady gameplan esé

Shit. I didn't know my man.
Sorry.
:(
>>
>>14893384
Nice man, enjoy yourself. Take solace in knowing that there are grunts at Ft Benning having a 200% worse time than you are in basic kek.

Sounds like a good job to get into, but I'm an aspiring aerospace engineer so I'm biased.

Meh life happens. At least I get to help take care of my grandfather and love in a much better place than rural Oregon.

>Pensacola
You're going to be down there for the hottest and nastiest time of year. But the goddamn beaches are worth it. Good bit of hotties there, too, but parts of Pcola can be ghetto as fuck. Trust me. I wish I could remember the good restaurants but it's been years since I've really been out-and-about down there beyond visiting my mom for a few days.

>>14893390
At the worst, you enlist for whatever job you can qualify for, do four years, and fix your shit. You don't have to have a stick up your ass to do well in the Air Force in most jobs, and the resources are there to do damn near anything you want with your life.

How did you get into tech school? I wouldn't mind being a plane mechanic, and I'm pretty good with piston engines and the like.
>>
>>14893397
lol absolutely. Know people going into both the Army and Marines, they're going to go through the hell the same time I go through basic.

This'll be my first job, I think I'll change in the future. For the first three to six years, I'll do my best at the one I chose here.

>>14893403
I've heard it's a beautiful place despite the humidity. I've also heard San Antonio is nasty as hell in August as well, so I'm not sure which I prefer. Though, that's a dry heat. Basic will go by fast, that I know.

>>14893405
I go to tech school after basic for aircraft structure. Hell, I might get in on B52 modernization from the sounds of it.

As far as aircraft maintainers go, there are an assload that you can do regarding mechanics. I initially planned on being an aircraft mechanic, however I switched to structure at the last minute and still have time to switch back.

If you clean a carburetor with an ultrasonic cleaner, do you have to disassemble it?
