The l850 was incredibly influenced by the Saab 4, with a large amount of the engineering work being done by Saab. IT was a more a continuation of the Saab engine than anything else.

The only engine worth a shit that GM gave to Saab was a v8, the ls2 found in the saab 9-7 aero. Well maybe the 2.8 turbo is good to.. but v-6 in transverse is unpleasant from a work on it yourself perspective.

what is an LKA 2.0T? The LK9 appeared in saab 9-3s. the LK9 is part of the L850 family, which some argue was based on the Saab 'H' engine. The engineering of the l850 family was carried out by Opel, Saab, and gm in Michigan, Saab and Opel both being fully owned by GM. Some will claim Lotus had a part, but that was the earlier Ecotec, confusion caused by the fact that GM called two different engines Ecotec.

No, there isn't anything at all wrong with the L850, its probably the best 4 cylinder GM ever produced and ever will produce.

Avoid a Saab if you want carefree driving. Its plain and simple. The 9-3 has never had a good reputation for reliability, and the Consumer Guide rating of "recommend" was only on the '07 models. It has been downgraded again and is no longer a recommended car. The continued downward spiral of sales for the past 6 or 7 years is plain and simple a reflection of the reliability. After the 3 or 4 years of ownership (03+ models), people are not buying another Saab, nor would I. The v6s aren't NEARLY as good as Saab's 4 bangers. The b204/b234 has gone over 500hp on stock internals reliably. They tend to create more torque than horsepower too. Even vine stock, my 9-5 Aero came 230hp and 250ft/lbs of torque. Held that torque from 1000-3800rpm in the manual transmissions. The 2.8 was good, but not nearly as good.
