Front and rear suspension is 100% different. Track width isn't even the same. Wheels are unique just like the e85/e86. The engine technically is an S series with unique internals, for whatever that is worth. Body panels alone make the price difference worth it. If you are in the game for budget bang for the buck BMW isn't the place to look. I guarantee that M2 is going to sell for far more than a fully optioned M235i. Thats just how it works.
